Aug 27 04:22:00 Cellvolution Odd. It's not loading or playing for me in Firefox.
Aug 28 01:45:00 21h 23m Evolution Racer Now I can't vote (Jam member but not submitter) but I like the presentation and the quote at the start. I'm in the same basket as you, I was on a team, but not the lead for programming.

"Evolving" the random PC is quite cute! The mutate button is even funnier. They just get progressively more fucked up looking, haha.

Wow, I won't spoil it, but that is the BEST ending ever. This reminds me SO much of Increpare's RaRa Racer. http://www.increpare.com/2008/12/rara-racer/
Aug 28 02:08:00 23m 00s The Sky in the Room Fuck yeah, Twine! Go modern IF, go. Oh, crap, for a moment there, I totally thought it wasn't in English and the whole thing was going to make me relive Latin class. Whew.

I love this kind of trippy surreal stuff so I know I am gonna have a good time.
Aug 28 02:34:00 26m 00s Microbe Madness! Hi there! I can't vote, but this game beat me twice, then I beat it and I felt quite satisfied!

Like a bowl of pudding, it's not very filling but it's great while it lasts!
Aug 28 02:39:00 5m 00s Terra Tam: The World Warrior Well, THIS is different. I'm going to come back to comment on final impressions.

Impression is: You have a twisted sense of humor. :)
Aug 28 02:47:00 8m 00s Deep Sea Evolution Firefox did NOT like this Unity game in the browser... long pause, frozen, Task Manager unfroze and the game went by so fast I had no idea what just happened.

The Windows version also froze.
Aug 28 02:56:00 9m 00s evojump Maybe I'm slow... is there a goal to this?

The graphics are beautiful, by the way.
Aug 28 05:18:00 2h 22m You ARE the RAIN Um, very difficult game for me! It's not a bad game, it's just really hard for me to attack with the mouse alone.
Aug 28 05:23:00 5m 00s Temple of Evolution The many options are very much appreciated!

Aww, I couldn't catch the bunny. I'm trying the other rooms. There's a lot of narration at the beginning and text going on while I'm playing.
Aug 28 06:04:00 41m 00s The Highbred Pixel The jumping mechanic for the two platforms ... I have no skills, I can't seem to get past it.
Aug 28 06:08:00 4m 00s Little City Argh, just the BXFR noise is too much for a repetitive sound.
Aug 28 06:33:00 25m 00s Curse of Hardai As of right now, the web one is not loading for me.

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at schonstal.org.
Aug 28 07:07:00 34m 00s Modula That bomb-spewing enemy feels impossible... I like the game, the look, the playing of it. Good job!
Aug 28 07:41:00 34m 00s evolution of monsters "YOU ARE DEAD!!!" Haha, it's cute. Is it a homemade 3D renderer/engine?

Like the other two, I didn't get very far...
Aug 28 16:39:00 8h 58m Aqualution Holy crap, did the jellyfish get even HARDER? lol
Aug 28 19:09:00 2h 30m DashDashDASH Argh, the controls are really floaty. If I'm a little person, do I need inertia and slide?

I retried a few times, but the shooting mechanic (I can't see where/ what I'm shooting but guess by intuition where the cursor is) and those falling floor sections combined were too much for my casual skills.
Aug 28 19:15:00 6m 00s Lepton's Quest I think that idea behind a large group submitting a Jam entry like this is really fantastic!

Navigating the main map wasn't intuitive, but I think it has a lot of charm already. I didn't find the Librarian yet... is there a Library I'm missing the way to?
Aug 28 19:24:00 9m 00s Feesh. Whoa, movement is dizzyingly fast when the set pieces come into view!

I got it the 2nd time through and it's fun becoming the big fish in a small pond, very reminiscent of Osmos. I know we have the need to compare everything but think of them as game recommendations ;).

When they explode, I was a little unsure what was just a scatter pieces effect and what was a collectible.
Aug 28 19:30:00 6m 00s Mad Scientist Monster Maker Well, that was more fun that it had any right to be. I wish I had more spammable powers and an opponent with knockback would be really good.

Walking seems really slow, probably a deliberate thing, but it does feel very sluggish.
Aug 28 19:38:00 8m 00s Soul Jar This may be one of my favorite comp games so far. PLEASE extend it, the atmosphere, controls and idea behind an AI companion are beautiful.

I'm still in the process of playing it, actually, and I'm having a lot of fun. My little guy fell down a pit and I needed to rescue him but I didn't feel annoyed but sympathetic.
Aug 28 19:40:00 2m 00s Living Tales I like the idea behind it! Of course it's a bit like Scribblenauts where too many options is overwhelming.

I would show the verb and noun list by default with a button to close it later.
Aug 28 19:49:00 9m 00s Evolution Darn those octopuses! Thank you for making this, I enjoyed playing what I could get through.

The colors in the pixelart are bright and vibrant and have rock solid design. It's a minor thing, but I really like the fading trailing bubbles on the fish.

Without the ability of a continue or some other method to deal with the purple guys, I didn't really get very far... I had the idea to trap the octopuses on the bottom area of the first screen, but couldn't seem to pull it off with the back-and-forth fish enemies too.
Aug 28 19:54:00 5m 00s Lucas's Quest Backwards Haha, I love the hook and story. Talk about loaded questions with those options, though!

The platforming is solid for prototyping but I got used to seeing "PRESS ENTER TO RESTART THE LEVEL" ...
Aug 28 20:00:00 6m 00s TreeVolve Well, I'm having a lot of fun with it and Tower Defense is one of my favorite genres, owing to Elona Shooter.

Please continue to develop for this and release a full game! <3 It already plays nicely and it's genuinely fun.
Aug 28 20:06:00 6m 00s Lucid The signs and little text comments and flagposts are really helpful.
Aug 28 20:17:00 11m 00s Sheep Breeder Do you want to buy this sheep? Y/N pop-up prompt is a little unnecessary.

Um, I'm not sure why this didn't work for me. Maybe if I had a little farm and got to see the sheep increasing it would feel a bit more real. Right now, it kind of feels like a realtime spreadsheet more than a game... a bit too much like work...
Aug 28 20:36:00 19m 00s Ameeba's I can tell most of the game concept and I got past the door and mushrooms and such. I wish you could fire directly underneath yourself to grow the mushroom underneath you.

It's hard to review it at the moment because the bugs are so numerous, with the amoebas falling off the stage or walking left and falling off into infinity and then canceling out/restarting again.

I enjoy firing the gun, I just have no idea what is really happening in practice with the evolution mechanic of the other creatures.
Aug 28 20:46:00 10m 00s Acts of August: Introspective Well, that comic was disturbing but interesting... Next time, if it's possible, include the video and the comic in the game itself from the main menu. The short film chopped up could make interesting cutscenes or unlockable memories.

The shaders made the game play very slowly on my PC, even in windowed mode, and I have around 16 GB of RAM...
Aug 28 20:58:00 12m 00s LD24 X0ut Holy crap, this sucks me right in. The difficulty level is over my head (as usual) but what I did see and replay, I'd like to compliment you for making such tight controls.

Eventually what happens is I get cornered or overwhelmed by enemies and wishing I had a bombing or explosion option. If one is gained by evolving, I haven't found it just yet.
Aug 28 21:05:00 7m 00s Adventurers Evolution Really interesting mechanics, I like the idea of getting stronger like that and the concept. A harem selection screen does feel a bit sexist though. >.> "She could bear you this child!" Of course on a strictly game mechanic type, it's fine and thinking too deeply about games is for editorial writers.

I wish I could see the stats on a zombie before fighting it.
Aug 28 21:10:00 5m 00s Chrysalis Choice I feel sad to say this, but I don't think I get this game at all.

I collected squares, but I'm not seeing a consequence from my actions. I like the upward branching motion at the start... maybe this needs some text to give everything some ramification.
Aug 28 21:18:00 8m 00s The Balance For the 42 hours competition, you need to work alone. Only Jam allows teams. Of course, it's all about fun and the rules are not seriously enforced so it's not a big deal.

The graphics are beautiful, and I love the song. If you expand this, think about combos and also enemies or obstacles making it harder to collect. It feels a lot like Music Catch and I like it.
Aug 28 21:26:00 8m 00s Observer I was not able to figure out how to control the Evopad and my goal.

Using Right click as a control mechanic also brings up the menu in Web version.
Aug 28 21:32:00 6m 00s Geometry Once I figured out that Space was Upgrade, things went a lot smoother. A reminder of that on the game screen would help.

I still died to hordes of enemies after a certain point. I like bullet shooters because the progression always feels fun.
Aug 28 21:40:00 8m 00s Urban Sprawl The music was quite soothing. I didn't find a winning strategy yet but it was still fun to play.
Aug 28 21:44:00 4m 00s Darwin's Survival of the Fittest Extravaganza 2: Survive Harder Hammering the squares is pretty fun. After the platformer narrows twice, there's not much else to do. I got to score 4400 before being pushed off finally.
Aug 28 21:48:00 4m 00s Darewin's Missing Link What are the controls, only mouse?
Aug 28 21:50:00 2m 00s Ancestry Haters The alpha fading effects make my eyes hurt a bit.
Aug 28 21:53:00 3m 00s Ballvolution Seconding the "it needs to be faster."

I got to mass 3 and appeared to run out of things to absorb. Are more AI balls randomly generated?
Aug 28 21:55:00 2m 00s Evolve Arena It does make it harder to test it out... I'll try it later tonight.
Aug 28 22:00:00 5m 00s DNADream It's one of those simple but brilliant ideas. Good game, I really liked it, especially once I figured it out!

With certain goals or enemies and adding complexity, I think that the core mechanic to this is fun. It might need a little tutorial stage though. I had no trouble figuring out that clicking on the DNA balls reveals a left, middle and right option and it regrows each time, but it's not immediately obvious.

The graphics are bright and easily understood. The whole package comes off very nice. Just wish it had some audio of some kind.
Aug 28 22:03:00 3m 00s Life is Pietzsche Evolving Fire Dash got me up to Level 3, but I get pinned very fast and then die...

My strategy of Fire, Heart then Water is working out so far, and it's not a very deep puzzle but I like the trial and error method here. Not bad. With some polished controls and different AI swarming tactics, it has some potential.
Aug 28 22:10:00 7m 00s Battle Evolved Haha, crap, I'm bad at this game. It's still a lot of fun though, and I got up to the acid-spitting bat dinosaur boss. It's fun to move and listen to.

The film grain is a bit distracting, but the effects and audio are top-notch here for a Dare entry. It really feels like you're hitting them.
Aug 28 22:13:00 3m 00s Fish In the Mud I... don't think I quite get this game.

Is it possible to jump?
Aug 28 22:19:00 6m 00s Slime World Looks great and has actual gameplay, nice job!
Aug 28 22:34:00 15m 00s Mina It was an embarrassing 3 minutes where I realized I was trying to attack my own guys, and that's why it wasn't working.

After that, it was a bit of a clusterfuck when I discovered the other tribes. Absorbing ink didn't seem to have a really noticeable effect, but I understand there's a deeper gameplay here.

The blurring out for loss of health is a nice touch. Once I survived a little longer, it's fun to see the chaos. For later times, a minimap to oversee the entire battlefield would be more than welcome.

When arrow or arrow (pope-looking guy) is acquired, I waded in like a captain. The game really goes so fast that it's hard to react to the swarms sometimes.
Aug 28 22:38:00 4m 00s Tree Fraps + Audacity will record you a gameplay video. You can also use Windows Movie Maker to stitch things together a bit and VirtualDub to export segmented AVIs.

There are a lot of developers here that don't believe that interactive art or visual novels are games, please don't listen to them. As far as the interactivity goes, a little outside influence might be nice for future versions: Wind and sunlight affecting things and such.

Stuff like The POWDER game is still definitely a game.
Aug 28 22:46:00 8m 00s evolution game This game is (possibly) unintentionally hilarious, but I love the start.

When the green square came after me, it felt like an I Wanna Be The Guy moment with the apple, though. Did not recognize that as an enemy.
Aug 28 22:48:00 2m 00s GeomeTree This is really relaxing, a great Zen game!
Aug 28 22:52:00 4m 00s Slowly Ehh... the objects pop up too slowly.
Aug 28 22:54:00 2m 00s Squid-wyn Happily Cleans Up Creationist Propaganda Is there a separate camera control too?
Aug 28 23:03:00 9m 00s Uberlution Ahahaha, the combat is literally button-mashing! I love that.

I'm had trouble finding something small enough to eat, though... Once I did, the game got a lot more fun! This is what Spore should have been. :/

Also, great tribute to Monty Python!
Aug 28 23:12:00 9m 00s The World Tree This is really nice, I like how I had to approach the bell at first. The strobing gives me a bit of a headache after a few minutes though.

The sound ambiance is really delicious here, though. If you come across the top of the maze the next time, you get stuck on the red box, though.

The PC also has a chance to glitch out near the boxes after the fifth bell.
Aug 28 23:16:00 4m 00s Sidescroller Evolution The background music is really wonderful, I liked the Zen autoscrolling first level.

The second part was a little harder with dodgy collision detection for enemies, but good show all around!
Aug 28 23:20:00 4m 00s Abbadon Trippy... I move really slowly and I don't get the controls. Are WASD the primary ones?
Aug 28 23:25:00 5m 00s Grow Mitkus, it's 2012. 50 MB is not a huge download by any stretch of the imagination...

I repeatedly got this error http://i.imgur.com/p5XUy.png when initializing the program in Windows. Not sure why. But if you click Cancel enough, it eventually stops...

Some explanation on the controls would be nice.
Aug 28 23:28:00 3m 00s Shape the World! This really is quite fun, and I'm surprised it hasn't had more plays or feedback! The evolution mechanic of changing the shape is subtly brilliant.
Aug 28 23:39:00 11m 00s Darbot Saves Science Haha, this game is kind of funny. Love the enemy concepts and "Science has failed our world!"
Aug 28 23:42:00 3m 00s Battle Arena Evolution! OH GOD THE SOUNDS. Hahaha!

Love the "Will it blend" style evolution too. If this doesn't get a high humor score, people are out of their minds.
Aug 29 00:02:00 20m 00s Watercolor Wheel Evolution Awwww! This is really sweet...
Aug 29 01:14:00 1h 12m My Time I can jump up THROUGH the platforms? Oh, I love how lovingly badly coded this is.

Charles Darwin up in this motherfucker! Haha.
Aug 29 01:17:00 3m 00s 'The Neon Pink Philosophy' Turned out fantastic, it's amazing how well that all came together. No one element is mindblowing, BUT everything works really well! There's no weak points.
Aug 29 04:45:00 3h 28m Virion It's kind of amazing the simple feeling of inertia that the rolling gives, a really fine touch!

That said, I couldn't make it past the third screen. Skills? What skills?
Aug 29 05:53:00 1h 08m Evolization I had the same problem, I couldn't find enough creatures to survive. But the graphics are pretty nice.

What happens when you evolve?
Aug 29 06:05:00 12m 00s Blobosphere Evolution Zero I love the idea and putting them to use! Very nice! I wish this could be refined and the shots were a little more effective at the start...

Even though it's not perfect, I came back and played it again, I liked the concept so much.
Aug 29 06:59:00 54m 00s Mytosys Haha, I won! Oh, that was over fast. It was fun while it lasted.

Even at the end screen, I can still get turned briefly by a red virus.
Aug 29 10:04:00 3h 05m Cellception I can't seem to get far and I just die in seconds...
Aug 29 10:14:00 10m 00s Death Cell A shooter mashup with the game of life is just brilliant.
Sep 4 01:57:00 135h 43m GiRL2501 It's very pretty, great UI, satisfying when enemies explode. Succeeds where some games aren't even in the running as "good" It's hard to figure out where to go.

Those tight corridors really work against this game's worst feature: how hard it is to turn and how slidy forward motion is.
Sep 4 02:31:00 34m 00s Legacy Bird I wish there was a way to hit enemies underneath or above the sprite and I walked just a little bit faster. It felts like a weird RTS holdover not to be able to face an enemy and hit it.
Sep 4 02:49:00 18m 00s Praepoch I got to the cave system, but I can't advance due to the enemies. Ah, well. It was fun while it lasted, but would have been more fun with a visible health indicator and more incentive.
Sep 4 02:56:00 7m 00s Selectra Looks very nice, but not much incentive for fighting the monster instead of dodging them. Is it possible for the weapon to charge faster at some point?
Sep 21 19:21:00 424h 25m The Voynich Experiment Well, that was really fun to play. I love the art style of the paper textures, the combination idea and the music is just wonderful.
