| Strong AI | I quite like games of this style, but it was rather short and easy. The end made me smile, though. I don't see how it's particularly minimalist, apart from the simple graphics. The game became jerky when I used the most powerful weapons (yellow circles).

The Linux version gave me a GLX error.
| Still Pond | It's beautifully minimalist and reasonably fun. It's irritating to be returned to the start of the game every time you fail a level (especially when objects fall off the edge of the screen), and yet I still kept trying because I wanted to get further.

(When I read the journal before playing the game, I was expecting it to consist of just a title screen. I was mildly surprised to find that it was interactive!)
| Minimaze | I really enjoyed it. Shame it only lasted 5 minutes. | ||
| Tiny Hawk final release | I quite enjoyed this game. I've been toying with the idea of making a game with only a single control for a while, so it was interesting to see what someone else had done with that concept. I don't think a second button to turn around is needed. I liked the joke in the name. The music was fairly catchy too.

The levels presented a reasonable challenge, although as ever it might have been nice to see more of them and some sort of target (in terms of time or score) that you had to beat.

I noticed that the game had very high CPU usage on my 3 GHz Pentium 4.
| minimalist entry | It crashes on startup for me on both the Linux machines I tried with an OpenGL error 1281, it would seem while it's trying to draw text. | ||
| Exxon – The decontaminator | Even running the stand-alone Windows version, I can't start the levels. I just get free mode instead. Eventually I got it working on Linux in a browser, but it was slow. I like the idea and the game is pleasant enough, but it got boring after a while. | ||
| GBGames presents Minimalist – the | Level 179. Fits the theme very well. Perhaps a steeper difficulty curve would have been better. | ||
| The Butler Did It | I'm impressed with the idea and the different storylines being generated each time, but once you get past that it seems to be essentially a logic puzzle. I spent some time fighting with the camera before settling on a point-of-view where I could see everything clearly. The style of the graphics reminded me of an old game called Movie. | ||
| Castle Adventure | You need the Visual C++ 2005 SP1 redistributable and the .NET 2.0 redistributable to run the supplied exe. Really fun while it lasted, and very minimalist. It was a bit easy once I got the bow. I noticed that when you stand on a special square, the description of the area gets repeated many times, filling the message window. | ||
| win32.dll The Game | Five minutes of fun. Pretty polished. I've played a very similar game before, though. | ||
| Framed! v1.1 Released | I had to read the comments to work out what was going on. After I had worked out what was going on, it seemed kind of pointless. It's good to see a Ludumdare game with music in it. | ||
| “Desktop Rox” | It's an Asteroids clone and it's a reasonably good one, so it's fairly fun, but hardly original. | ||
| The Minimizing knight | After installing avbin on Linux, it starts, but crashes after I press space a couple of times with an error about a failed assertion at pcm_params.c:2259 . | ||
| MiniMall | Debian users: apt-get install libtaoframework-sdl1.2-cil libmono-system2.0-cil libgdiplus

It was an amusing idea and an entertaining toy for a few minutes, but it kept crashing: first it couldn't open FreeSans.ttf and then shop.png.
| Space Stuff Trader | I'm impressed that you managed to make so complete a game during the compo, even if it is very unbalanced.

I don't think it's a problem having realistic controls, but it is a problem if the computer-controlled ships don't behave similarly. They seem to be massively more manoeuverable, have a high rate of fire and are able to fire spread shots. What's more, they start firing when they're not even visible on-screen.

It would be helpful to have some sort of indicator telling you more precisely how far it is to a planet (the existing change of colour doesn't tell you accurately enough), and maybe a speedometer, so that you can judge more accurately when to start slowing down as you approach a planet, rather than reaching it, starting to slow down, and taking 10 seconds just to stop.

The first few times I played, I got shot up by pirates straight away. I'd like to be able to restart without having to quit the game. Eventually I managed to trade some goods at a profit. Then I saw that one commodity had a higher selling price than buying price and exploited the loop to make massive amounts of money and buy lots of upgrades. Then I took on some pirates, then some other traders. Realistically, I don't think you have a chance against them without massive upgrades.

I think there's a bug where you can't refuel your health if you're on full fuel.

I'd like to see higher-resolution graphics, although I suppose that's a matter of personal preference. It's sometimes tricky to tell which way your ship is facing.

I ended up spending a relatively long time playing this game.
| Micro Macro | It's entertaining for a couple of minutes, I suppose. Not bad for 2.5 hours, though. | ||
| final version of my game | The game is fun for five minutes, but gets boring against the computer fairly quickly. I imagine it's more interesting against another human.

I really liked the graphical style of this game. Having read your journal, it only took me a few seconds to work out what was going on, but I suppose instructions might be helpful. The controls seemed OK, although maybe tweaking the acceleration and turnspeed could emphasise the tactical aspect of the game more.
| There Is No Screwdriver | It's annoying for reasons described by the other posters, but I'm impressed that you managed to make this in a day with no previous programming experience, and I was interested in where the story was going. | ||
| Steroids | No Mac, but after some modifications I managed to get it to compile on Linux. However, it crashed after a few seconds with glibc detecting a double free. | ||
| Casey is ready to rock (kind of) | After installing rabbyt and pymunk, I get an error about being unable to import vec2d. I was reasonably amused by the readme, though. |
