LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-06T00:48:38Z

Great entry. Had it been longer I wouldn't have believed it was done in 48 hours. Graphics are on point. Music is good. Gameplay is original and slick AND it made me laugh. You can be proud of yourself.

My girlfriend loved it so much !

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-06T00:28:40Z

@pincushion Yeah my mouse sensitivity is quite high and I didn't think about it while making the game. I'm glad you still enjoyed it ^^ Thanks for your comment!

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-06T20:04:32Z

@mikelovesrobots I mean... I wouldn't call it "cheating" haha! Thanks for playing and thanks for the comment! ^^

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-07T02:37:57Z

@sharks Hey man! Thank you for the comment! ^^ A particle effect was planned for when enemies explode, but I didn't quite get the time. For the "hard to figure out" part it was kinda intentional. Figuring out what you have to do IS the puzzle. Executing it is pretty straight forward once you get it. (That's how I see it at least, but I take the criticism ^^). Having you watching my stream was super fun! I'm glad you were there cause you were my only viewer for most of it XD. Thanks for playing my game and I'll make sure to play yours when I have time <3

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-10T22:24:49Z

@sharks @pincushion @nick-rafalski @mikelovesrobots I added a mouse sensitivity slider to the game, If your interested in trying the game again without having to yeet your mouse accross your desk. You don't have to. I just wanted to let you know. ^^

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-11T18:59:50Z

@tgiant I was aware of the bug actually, but didn't get time to fix it XD I had to cut the corners in a bunch of places (which is normal for a game jam). Reworking the controls was also part of the plan. Thanks for playing! ^^

Infinity testing room by TheGreenMan 2020-10-24T03:00:22Z

@luka0725 @coding4rtist Well in the description you can see that you use R to reload and that you can change the mouse sensitivity by pressing enter.

The enemies not shooting up was intentional. I wanted the combat to be fairly easy even for people who don't play many fps games. I wanted the focus to be on the puzzle since it is what links the game to the theme.

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you enjoyed it <3

Grinding Gears by Pincushion 2020-10-10T22:53:44Z

Good entry! I like the visuals and the sounds and the puzzles are very fun. Though the controls didn't feel great and the camera angle relative to the minimap's was kinda confusing so it made the levels a little hard to navigate. Overall I had fun and it is very good for a compo game! Great work!

Mouseherd by typeswitch 2020-10-06T01:08:09Z

Simple, but effective. Perfect for a game jam. You did a great job. ^^

Heart of the Cards by Neon 2018-04-25T13:00:32Z

The Graphics and gameplay are on point! It is really fun to play! Only thing, I would've liked to see more element from card games inside your game. It lacked any of the strategy involved in card games, since you had no way to choose what card to throw and their effects weren't different enough. Still a really good entry, I had fun playing it! ^^

The Sparrow Served Danger by incobalt 2018-04-24T21:04:24Z

I really like the idea, and the way you split the different tasks into stations is fun. Only problem, when you play, you have no feedback. It doesn't do anything when you press the keys, so there's no way to know if you're doing the right thing... A sound or a color change would've done the trick. Also, this is not a problem, I'm just wondering, is it normal that the keys at the stations appear so slowly ?

Match Racer by tomdeal 2018-04-25T02:31:38Z

Really good game and good interpretation of the theme! I wasn't sure about the turn based racing at first, but the way you handled speed and turning is just brilliant. I'm honestly impressed. The music is great, the graphics look good... It's one of the best entry I've played. ^^

Combo Maker by TheMadPangolin 2018-04-23T20:53:16Z

The mechanics are on point and it is super fun to play, great graphics, music and idea! Really good job! :D

bill ball by flome 2018-04-23T21:11:14Z

The concept is really cool! Like mentionned in the other comment, having someway to know wich screen you're on would be nice, so you don't die by going down on the wrong screen. I never would've considered mixing pinball with anything, so props to you dude! You pulled it off really well!

Beet Running by BlackAtlas 2018-04-23T05:05:07Z

Good game dude! I really like the graphics, especially the animations when the plants grow. The idea is original and you really made something fun out of it. Biggest downside for me is the fact that music is out of sync with the beat you have to play on, but other than that, great job! ^^

Jean-Micheng VS Goblins by lo-x 2018-04-24T21:12:18Z

The gameplay is pretty good. So are the graphics! ^^ I know it's meant to be unfair, but it is to a point where it's not really fun anymore... One Goblin picks up the ball while the others are punching you and when he has it you have no way to catch up to him on his way to the goal. Also a little ball physics would've been nice. Good job tho ! There really is some potential here!

ROGUEMATCH by Tom Panton 2018-04-24T21:47:55Z

Honestly this game deserves some attention. The mechanics are very original and fun and they lead to some very interesting puzzle situations that make you feel very smart. This is the best take on the theme I've seen so far, as it properly matches mechanics from two very imcompatible genres to make something truly unique. I had a lot of fun playing it!

On a more negative note, the game crashed on me when I beat the 4 mage-like enemies, when they turned into skeletons, the game just crashed during the skeletons' first turn.

Still a GREAT LD entry tho!

If Potato Meets Flag Then by joqlepecheur 2018-04-23T14:31:32Z

This is the best game I've tried so far. The levels and mechanics are clever, the music is great and really sets the mood and the graphics have a nice look to them. I played through all of it and I want more! XD

The King of The Hill by Alex13 2018-04-25T01:50:13Z

At the first the game threw me off a bit, but when you get used to the controls it's actually pretty fun! Some kind of tutorial and/or clearer explanations in game would be nice tho.. Anyway really good entry, you should be proud! ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T14:42:52Z

@ROBOWARRIOR1982 Thanks man! I'm glad you like it! I didn't even try to play it with other people because I didn't have time.. XD But yeah a lot more obstacles stack up if you play with 4 persons.

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T14:47:34Z

@StarzzDrak :( I really wanted to make and AI for it, but I'm not really good at AI and I didn't have time... If you find a friend to play it, come back and try it with him so you can tell me if you had fun! ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T14:59:07Z

@vilix64 I'm glad you liked them! I was running out of time so I made something simple ^^ I'm happy of how they look.

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T19:36:00Z

@Colin-Misbach Wow thank you! I really wanted to keep the luck aspect from classic board games and I'm glad you felt that. ^^ I wanted to add more with special tiles, like the "chance" ones from monopoly, but time played against me.

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T21:22:29Z

@fashionbatman Thank you! I also think the jump is too floaty. I just didn't get much time to change it at the end..

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T21:25:13Z

@incobalt Actually if you land on someone's else obstacle you can upgrade it too (and it becomes yours), so it's alot more likely if you play with 4 players. Thanks for the comment!

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T21:26:52Z

@Memedev0 I didn't get much time at the end to balance the obstacles... Did you upgrade some to level 3? Anyway thank you!

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-23T21:41:03Z

@incobalt upgrading from level 1 to 2 costs 2 coins, and from 2 to 3 it costs 3. (Now that I think about it, it might be too much.. ) and yeah it just skips your turn if you don't have enough coins.

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-25T01:38:17Z

@tomdeal Thank you! If you do play with some friends, tell me how it went! I couldn't test it with a friend myself, so I'd really like some feedback on the multiplayer aspect. ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-25T12:21:06Z

@Zinkler Oh no! :O I'll have to look into that. Thanks for reporting the crash! As for the tokens, yeah I do think you should collect more to make games more dynamic. I was planning to have more difficulty levels for each tiles but 3 for each color is all I had time for. Thanks for the comment! ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-25T13:43:49Z

@lautregars Yeah I did run out of time... Mostly because I had other things planned during the weekend so I couldn't focus 100% on the jam.. The game certaintly requires a lot a tweeking and balancing. The random part is mostly there for it to feel like a real board game. It also makes it more casual as the better player won't always crush the others since there is luck involved. Thanks for your comment! It's really appreciated! ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-25T18:14:37Z

@Zinkler I fixed it just now! Thank you for helping ^^

monoPlatform by TheGreenMan 2018-04-28T21:18:42Z

@zeu31 Thank you ! Yeah I didn't get much time to polish the controls...

Combine 2 Incompatible Genres by edomin 2018-04-23T14:55:00Z

Good idea and interpretation of the theme!
