LD46 — Keep it alive

Nightwatch by Neon 2020-04-24T17:50:41Z

@dodormeur Thanks a lot for the thorough review  :green_heart: The diaries spawn at random, which in retrospect is a little dumb. I did have a better solution for them earlier, but didn't exactly have time to implement anything more sophisticated, since I ended up implementing the story in general in the last 3 hours

Nightwatch by Neon 2020-04-24T18:17:33Z

@dodormeur Ah that's a good point. Somehow it didn't even cross our minds during the making of this, but maybe after the ratings done (And adding new features is allowed) we'll add that in, Thanks for the idea, it shouldn't be very hard to implement!

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-25T15:38:04Z

It's a pretty neat game, although I have many recommendations on how to maybe make it better, I can see what you tried and I like it  Sensitivity for mouse look is way too high, making looking and aiming very hard, FOV of the camera is also too small, which makes looking around pretty difficult also. Overall feel of the game could use some refining, but the concept is really neat :)

Eater of Worlds by Havok06 2020-04-24T17:33:06Z

A fun combination of RTS and tower-defency type of games! I'd like to see you being able to create other units than the one you control, or alternatively maybe it is possible but I did not know how. Which brings me to my critique: It was quite hard to figure out how to play and what to do in order to survive. Some kind of tutorial or text on the itch page explaining what you should do and what you can do would be really useful. Overall though the graphics were really nice on this one! It was quite fun to play also, and the audio complemented the graphics nicely.

I did find out that you can move the camera with arrow keys, but also with Z, X, S, and D, or something along those lines (I didn't really map the non-arrow keys very well)? Is that intentional or just some kind of leftover from godot input system?

Blob by KevTukk 2020-04-24T17:18:30Z

Your own blob is very cute! I did find it somewhat hard though to figure out what exactly was the goal of the game, and actually landing hits on the enemy blobs was also quite hard. The sound effects were certainly quite fun though!

Dart Attack by EternalXP 2020-04-24T18:15:50Z

Very fun game! The graphics are pretty great and the idea in general is pretty good. The movement of "you" is pretty clunky though, and the audio could use some fading effects and maybe some music in the background. The darts also go very fast and that kind-of scared me at the beginning  I also found out that you can just move the heart behind a wall, and basically just move "you" at the middle where darts would spawn, so you instantly destroy the darts as they spawn, I think that should not be allowed by maybe having colliders with the dart spawners. Overall quite an innovative idea, fun concept, nice graphics and quite a fun game to play!

Hive Mind by whycardboard 2020-04-25T15:43:33Z

Ahh thats was a really enjoyable experience  I loved the graphics and, while it took me a while to realize, I thought it was funny that the music in the background was "Flight of the Bumblebee" hehe :joy:

Not much to critisize, except an easier way to select bees and a more visible way to see which bees were doing something and which weren't would have been useful, the difficulty also ramps up pretty fast. Very very nice though!

Rekindle by Xenoxygene 2020-04-25T16:02:46Z

I really liked this one! The only real complaint is that I never really saw any sandwiches, I think the main issue was that the ram kept eating them before I saw any :joy: Otherwise the game was very enjoyable! The graphics were great and the audio nicely complemented that. Really good, cute game!

The Dragonsitter by JoeShanahan 2020-04-25T22:35:42Z

Amazing game! Played until day 7 and loved every second of it. Honestly if I had to think of something to critique, the dragon's models could maybe have used some refining and honestly the biggest problem with that was trying to find where was the balance of keeping the dragon safe and secure, and balancing with that was somewhat difficult, but overall a very fun experience! Great concept and very nice gamefeel. I especially liked how neat the UI looked! I did find a small bug with the river, sometimes when trying to walk in it it teleports you to a bit weird and stuck-y places.

Véia Defense: Aliens Attack by Arthur Silva 2020-04-24T17:45:04Z

What an excellent game! The graphics and audio were certainly very nice to look at and listen! However with the gameplay programming there were some issues, such as collision boxes with things being a little off from the graphics, movement speed just a little bit too slow, collision box for hitting aliens just a little bit too small (so that I felt like I was risking to get hit myself everytime I tried hitting the aliens), and in general controlling felt just a bit clunky, but with those changes I think it could make a great improvement already! Overall, very good, and I enjoyed my time playing it!

J'ai Froid by Delapaix 2020-04-25T15:27:40Z

What a nice game! I wasn't able to gather any wood, I'm not sure if you're supposed to find sticks around or if you're supposed to be able to gather the wood from the trees, but either way it was quite nice. One thing I noticed though, is that even though the fire went out quite quickly I was able to stay alive for quite a long time, actually I didn't even notice my healthbar going down ever, which, I'm not sure if it's intentional, isn't exactly what I'd expect  The graphics were very nice though! I loved the pixel-ey aesthetic and the fog was pretty amazing! Nice job!

I am Dog by Craig Cordeiro 2020-04-24T17:10:31Z

The humorous lines and execution of that humor was excellent! I loved seeing all the different lines the dog might reply with, though in some cases it felt like there were too little lines for some activities, or the random selection of them was not that great, it could use some "don't repeat lines" work. Graphics obviously could use some improvement, however they did fit the humorous theme so points for that!

One thing I'd like to see though, is that as an accessibility thing (since it was somewhat of a problem for me) the time should maybe not run while you're not doing anything, so that you can read the lines at your own pace, honestly it kept my dog dying a few times since I'm such a slow reader, but I think for most people that's quite a minor thing.

I did enjoy playing it, even though it was a bit difficult trying to keep the dog alive, since it was not very straight forward as to what things improved what and what things didn't. Overall quite good, excellent job!
