LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Altar of Abaddon by Issac 2018-12-04T05:50:02Z

Wow! This was such an enjoyable game, and definitely not what I expected when that tiny window opened up. All of the text and Abbadon dialogue was great as well, and I absolutely loved when the screen changed sizes! The only thing that was a bit confusing was the heroes, as I'd sometimes see none on the screen but it still showed it as subtracting from my score. Other than that, wonderful job on this unique little clicker game!

PURITY by jantunes 2018-12-05T04:00:08Z

Very cool game! I love the concept, and a logic puzzle like this is a very unique take on the theme. The art, animations and music all created a wonderfully eerie atmosphere. Unfortunately we were unable to figure out how to solve the puzzle haha. That's partially on us, but it would have been helpful to have a bit more guidance, such as whether or not the list of people was in order. Regardless, great job!

Wenk! 🐧 by ColinBellino 2018-12-10T06:05:36Z

This is such a cute game, I love the art and SFX! Some of your sacrifices, such as knowledge, are pretty unique ones that I haven't seen before in similar games. This was a fun little challenge - and it definitely took me a few tries to beat haha. Great work!

Sacrificial Forest Friends by TheCrittersCove 2018-12-05T03:12:09Z

Nice game! I appreciated the well explained and easy to use controls. Learning the timing of the different spells and picking which ones to use at what time was a fun challenge, and they felt pretty satisfying to use. Great work!

Prayer for the Dead by Reid Willis 2018-12-04T04:55:10Z

Looks very interesting, but I'm unfortunately getting looped on the intro as well! Looking forward to trying it when fixed :)

Prayer for the Dead by Reid Willis 2018-12-04T06:53:55Z

Looks like the patch fixed things. I enjoyed this game! While there might not be too much going on gameplay-wise, the graphics are very nice and I liked the concept of sacrificing souls you had saved. One thing I'd say is that having to use the mouse to sacrifice a soul felt unintuitive, and took me a while to figure out. Some of the higher places also felt impossible to reach, and you can fall off the edge of the map which seems to break the game. But overall, great work for a jam! I'd love to see how this game could be expanded upon with some more time. :)

Moloch's Priest by Colestia 2018-12-04T07:29:49Z

Wow! I really enjoyed this game. Right off the bat it gave an incredibly eerie vibe, and the wonderfully creepy voices only added to that. Interpreting messages from a deity is a unique take on the theme, and yet it tied into it so well. And the ending was the perfect way to top it all off. A wonderful game with some wonderful commentary, this is probably my favorite game I've seen so far from this jam. Great job!!

Minotaur Mania by Trifectuh 2018-12-05T03:22:23Z

Nice game! It's clear a lot of work went into it even with just this one level, and I'd love to see what you guys can do with it outside of the jam's time constraints. Great work :)

Glow It Alone by egawag 2018-12-04T05:19:15Z

I really enjoyed this! I love the concept, and the lighting and music created a really nice atmosphere. Great job!

SacriMage by Worido 2018-12-10T06:19:02Z

I really like this concept! I'm always a fan of games with magic, and I love the idea of having lots of spells and having to sacrifice some to cast others. Unfortunately I ran into some frustrating issues. My spells often seemed to do nothing - such as damaging spells playing the animation on top of enemies but doing nothing, and healing spells never giving me any health back. It was also hard to tell when I took damage, as there was no indicator other than health decreasing. Other than that, great work, and I'd love to see where this could go with some issues resolved!

Cursed Relics by altega 2018-12-04T07:06:29Z

Nice work! I found the concept of gaining powerful new abilities at a steep price to be quite interesting, especially with the teleport boots. However, the gloves making you get 1HKO and the introduction of the fast moving enemy at the same time made the game suddenly become very frustrating. Maybe consider making the price a bit less steep, or allowing the user to choose which items are active? Regardless, its clear you put a lot of work into this. Great job!

Independence by DoubleBlackStudios 2018-12-04T05:11:12Z

I really enjoyed this! It made me so sad when I started losing people haha, but its a great use of the theme and the little story really made me think. Great work!

Cook by Koala Squad 2018-12-11T02:28:45Z

I love this! I'll try to say a few things without any spoilers. The only things I'd say are that the text moving so slowly got a bit annoying after a while, and that at the end, it felt a bit disconnected. I know "you are not in control" was a whole thing haha, but being literally not in control at the end kind of broke the immersion for me. Maybe give the player something to do there, similar to how we typed earlier and controlled the character? Rather than just having all the blue text spoken for us. Other than those, this is a super cool and well done concept, incredible work!

Blob !!! by funnbot 2018-12-05T03:07:03Z

Cute game! I loved the graphics and music. The controls were a bit messy and sometimes my character would glitch out and become very slow and uncontrollable for a bit. I also wasn't quite sure how it tied into the sacrifice theme. Regardless, a very cute concept! Would love to see where you could take this in the future :)

Udder Chaos by mtanton 2018-12-04T05:35:35Z

Nice game! I like the premise of this, and definitely didn't expect to be playing a stealth game as a cow haha. However trying to keep track of the farmers in first person got a bit confusing, especially when they caught me through the wall. I feel like it could've possibly worked better in third person, or even top down. Regardless, great job! And I absolutely love the demon cow :D

Hungry Hungry Dragon by Kelly Maguire 2018-12-04T04:43:57Z

Nice game! Sacrificing part of your tail and multiplier to continue your run is a neat twist on the typical snake game, and leads to some interesting decision making. The pixel art is also well done and cute! The one suggestion I would make is possibly switching to a fixed camera that shows the whole level, as the camera moving with the player felt a bit jarring. Great work!

The Astonishing Airscapade of Sir Bittergloom by Yuri Yakovlev 2018-12-10T06:35:33Z

This is a really fun take on the theme! The art and sound is so well done, and I love the details, such as seeing the items thrown out from the actual balloon. The only things I found myself frustrated with were that you couldn't gauge very well how much of a boost you'd get from an item, and it was very punishing to not get items back on reaching the next level. Also, while I love the drag and drop, I feel like gameplay wise it would've been better if you could just click on the item you want to get rid of - that way you could get rid of items in the bottom first for more decision making, and it would save some time when you need that boost right away. Regardless, this is so well done, and incredible work for a jam!

Goat 6 by joaosdev 2018-12-04T04:22:19Z

Great game! Controls could freak out at times, but no issues really other than that. Very cute art and I love the SFX. Super impressive for a jam!

Pick Your Poison by Vimlark 2018-12-04T06:29:31Z

Very nice game! Its a simple but interesting concept, that led to some tough decisions and quickly ramping difficulty. The only thing I'd say is that it was frustrating to have to start all over on death, but that's partially due to me being bad haha. Overall a very polished game for a game jam, great job!

Throwing Shade by Casey Macneil 2018-12-04T06:05:26Z

This was a fun challenge! A bit glitchy as you mentioned, but definitely playable. I love the art and music! The only thing I'd say is it didn't seem to tie into the sacrifice theme too much. But overall, great job and congrats!
