I think there is a severe bug! When I start the game it just loops the intro forever.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD43 → Prayer for the Dead

Can't wait to play it on the browser since I can't open it on my mac!
Damn, the intro got me super interested. Just loops at the moment though. Wasn't able to play.
Yo, your link isn't HTML web. It's actually an exe download and I'm Mac.
Looks very interesting, but I'm unfortunately getting looped on the intro as well! Looking forward to trying it when fixed :)
Looks like a very promising game based on the intro, but that loops forever. Also, this is not a web build as advertised and only plays (the intro) on Windows.
Yikes! I should've checked before uploading that patch. Sorry guys, fix incoming shortly!
Are you aware that "HTML5 (web)" is meant to be for games that run in the internet browser? Because your link should be labeled "Windows" as it is a Windows binary.
Like how others mentioned being unable to play due to a looping intro, I too have the same problem, so I can't rate your game...
Looks neat. HMU with an @ when you patch it.
@burnedkirby you're completely right, so sorry about this! I labeled it HTML5 because I was going to publish that first, but then I realized I didn't have the proper Unity plugin to do it yet. I've got a fixed version for windows, and HTML5 that I'll have uploaded within the next 10-15 minutes max
It looks really good, I will give it that. That main menu, although lacking a quit button is flawless. The choice of music gives the game a sense of indentity but the gameplay much less so. There's no use in nitpicking over bugs but the problem lies in the some of the core ideas of the game. Why even make it a high score based game ? There are many quotes and texts but they are the only thing which gives any context to the player's actions. But hey this is still a lot better than my first Ludum Dare game, keep it up !
Heya, I think the game is on infinite loop, it can be annoying sometimes but quiet well progressed actually. I like the concept, the sounds, menu design and level design too *(can be improved)*. Game mechanics are quiet well too, adding a warning for soul bar could be good. Also falling of on map is could be annoying so be careful everyone.
@toast-toaster Patch is up.
@burnedkirby @taikuri @jasacken @boopsgames The HTML5 version is uploaded. Just give it some time to set itself up/download
Honestly, I think this has pretty much every box checked for bad platforming (luckily that doesn't really matter for this game). The button mappings are pretty strange, I would put strafing on A and D rather than Shift+A and Shift+D. The controls being linked to the camera that you have no control over eliminates a lot of precision that you could have over the character. The character itself being kind of incorporeal makes it so that judging jumps is nigh impossible. That being said, I don't think bad platforming is really an issue this game has. While I have issues with what I listed on a fundamental level, they never hindered my enjoyment of what you made.
Looks like the patch fixed things. I enjoyed this game! While there might not be too much going on gameplay-wise, the graphics are very nice and I liked the concept of sacrificing souls you had saved. One thing I'd say is that having to use the mouse to sacrifice a soul felt unintuitive, and took me a while to figure out. Some of the higher places also felt impossible to reach, and you can fall off the edge of the map which seems to break the game. But overall, great work for a jam! I'd love to see how this game could be expanded upon with some more time. :)
Thanks for fixing the game.
Controls are difficult as this game uses W/S for move forward/backward, and A/D for turn Left/Right. Usually you'd expect strafing Left/Right with A/D instead and turning with the mouse. The "tank controls" this game uses makes it difficult to jump on top of rocks and save souls. The music should loop but it only plays once, which is a shame since it seems to add to the feeling of saving souls via holy chanting. The theme is used in the fact that the player is sacrificed once the light fades I think. The description of the game on the itch.io page seems to indicate that the player could return to heaven to avoid dying, but I wasn't able to figure out how as it isn't apparent on how to do so (maybe you can't). Game has a neat feeling to it, and it looks nice.
I tried the HTML version and it does seem fairly buggy. Story text isn't fitting in the screen and couldn't exit menu options. The gameplay could obviously use more depth. The one thing it does have going for it is mood. The visual effects and music help create a somewhat eerie feeling.
