... I just realised I played this for 3 hours straight... I think it was a complete success! The only gripe I have is minor, and it involves the slow movement on the world map. But everything else is fantastic! Suprisingly well thought out and balanced. However once you realise what element decks are more common for what town, its easy to modify your deck and abuse the poor NPCs who dont know any better.
Also, I seem to also win a card even if I lose a match.
@Arkazon: Yeah, I didn't get to spend as much time on combat as I would have liked. My first few attempts at proper collision detection resulted in very weird bugs. So I kludged it a bit. But you dont notice the difference really. But you're right, it could have done with more love. :D
@Kassoon: Yeah, initially you had to double jump to perform a hop, but for some reason i could get my input manage to register it properly, and time was trickling by and I still had alot of other things to implement.
I think I'm going to spend a little time this week finishing it off, and ill post the full version in the description. I'll either wait till the judging is finished before posting, or I will stipulate that that version is not the submitted entry and should not be taken into consideration when judging.
@Dax So you're the reason I couldnt sign up as that name! :P Yeah, I was under heavy pressure with the AI right at the end, I was on a roll, nearly finished it first time without any bugs which I was overjoyed with as they used recursion and a fair amount of looping, until there was one, and with 15 minutes left, all I could do was box off singleplayer... Oh well, so close. I will definitely manage my time better with LD24. I used XNA3.1 because I still run VS2008. However I'll not be using XNA for any further LDs, even though C# is my strongest language, as I really dont like the inaccessibility of it, which I had forgotten about in the couple of years since I last worked with it. Having to install a redistributable really isnt something I want my players to have to do. So between now and LD24, I'll be learning JavaScript for use with HTML5! Get games to work on ALL the OS's!
Oh, and as a primer for Javascript, I will be porting this game over. In doing so, I think I'm going to add ranged combat (or even just replace the melee combat with it). I think the strong point of the game id its movement, which I think will be used alot more if combat is entirely ranged. Also I want to make the planet hopping function with a doublejump instead of a seperate key, as originally intended! And then yes, I'll probably submit it to kongregrate or somesuch.
@icefallgames: press I to hop planets! :)
@xBlinkedx: Read my last comment! Explains why I had to box-off the singleplayer mode :(
@Spiridios: The AI was the last minute panic this time around too! lol I only had about 45 minutes in total to do it!
I'm working on making sure that my LD24 entry will be a Web version!
You could rebond the player 2 controls to whatever keys you wish within the options menu, but that doesnt help if you don't have someone to play with. I have to admit, I've never been able to play it with someone either! Forever alone... :(
Best I got was 2 jumps! On the 3rd level, there were only 2 black holes, and I was still crunching up a planet and couldnt grab them! :o But a solid game, with solid play nonetheless! well done!
Quirky! I found that flying backwards was more controlable than flying forwards. Pretty fun! Well done!
Very original! It's apity you didnt have enough time to get more than the mechanics done, but it was good nonetheless! Good work!
Possibly a bit too fast paced for my liking. You never really got enough time to even look at your vitals, and I often found that I'd died without realising it.Also the space to restart at the end didnt work. Good concept though.
I tried both web and windows versions - it displayed the title screen, and played the music, and prompted me to press space. Which wouldn't work. On either version. As you can see from this comment, my spacebar is working well enough. Bit disappointed, this looked to be an interesting entry too. (Didn't rate)
This is a really good entry! My only complaint being that it never lasted long enough for me to really play with the upgrades, or even use more than the first module of the second floor! :P
The option to pause, or go back to the main menu would ahve been nice, but makes no real difference.
Overall, this is a really good game, well done!

I want to add that I didn't feel it was terribly difficult. I lost the very first try, but i was just figuring out the mechanics. Since then I've won without really having to go into mass production.
I found that an easy win can be achieved by first getting an extra income module, then a factory. send a buggy down all 6 paths, make a quick check to see if any thing is coming (if it is, send a tank down that one too), build another income mod, get the 2nd floor, checking for incoming every 15 seconds or so. By the time Ive unlocked the second floor, i've usually won!
A fun, if easy puzzler. Background music would have been good, but thats far from a deal-breaker. The console messages were amusing, but didn't really fit with the puzzles. Again, not a deal-breaker. Overall a decent game, saving was a nice touch, allowing a player to repeat levels they had already completed. Well done!
Web version didnt work for me. Got the splash screen, pressed space, white-screen that wouldnt do anything. Windows version sent me to the same page. So downloaded the jar, which wouldnt run, so created a basic html page for it to run in (as I figure it is an applet afterall) same issue as above web version. Unable to rate! :(
A randomly generated island, and some background music would have done wonders! However, the difficulty of them always being on your trail was interesting. Made turning corners and navigating the trees dangerous activities! Im not sure the chests should have been collidable though. a few times they boxed me in around the chest and began the slaugherfest!
A fantastic game! It made me feel so nostalgic! I know 72 hours isn't long enough to make a full-length game, but I could have played this for WEEKS! I didn't want to turn the music off, because it wasnt too repetitive, it was just loud enough that you noticed more tan you should. Once I turned it down (I had to use windows volume as there was no game setting for it) it was perfectly fine! You lot did a fine job!
