LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

That Dangerous Bridge by Shackhal 2014-12-12T23:55:00

Very solid pixel art style. Punchy music. Simple and clear UI. Pause button is greatly appreciated. Nice sound effects. Good variety of traps. Item bob while jumping is a nice touch.

Music was a bit loud. Pausing removes the bridge and player. X for jump is an odd choice, spacebar may have been better suited. Picking up items could have used a sound effect so it's clear when you can turn around.

I'd recommend expanding this if you have the chance, it's definitely something I'd play on my phone.

PixelFighterZ by Rothens 2014-12-12T23:29:00

Interesting concept with a good start to an art style.

Movement is sticky and shakes the camera. Player, enemies, and bullets are hard to differentiate. Contrails and gradient tiles are too visually loud and make the game hard to understand.

As you noted it could have benefited from sound and a menu ;)

Tree and Fairy by twelveplusplus 2014-12-12T23:46:00

The background music was chippy and punchy, quite enjoyable.

Entities could have used a few frames of animation. The controls were unclear. I could only figure to attack by ramming myself into the enemies, which was not engaging since your avatar moves so slowly and is hurt by ramming.

There is a lack of sense of progression since there are no clear waves or goals for the player.

Legendary Legionnaire Winter Massacre by banana4life 2014-12-12T23:23:00

Arrows sticking into walls and camera shaking were nice effects. Combat had good feedback. Crossbow and sword are smart combination of distinct weapons.

Game could have used a pause button (especially for a reviewer tabbing out to take notes!). Stats don't shake with HUD during camera shake. Enemies could have used a simple intro animation so they don't simply fade in. In my play-through I never got to use magic.

Just a Little Screen Time by ppupae 2014-12-12T23:38:00

Voice acting and 3D were well executed and set the game apart. Channel changing effect is cool.

At times it was unclear why you could not progress past an invisible wall. Personally I could not understand the puzzle and did not get far.

Being able to switch to the channel you're currently on combined with no HUD made it unclear which channel I was currently on.

Road to Heaven by frenzyasii 2014-12-09T01:46:00

Good core mechanics and models. Interesting premise. A few more turret or enemy types are needed to flesh out the game-play.

I don't think the isometric camera angle lends itself well to having a fixed camera. I felt restricted and unable to follow the action.

I found it unclear how much money I had to buy turrets with.

The Screening by Suppagumma 2014-12-09T02:10:00

Solid art and sound make for a great atmosphere. The game's sense of humor adds a lot to the experience. The concept and goal are clear and well presented.

It is a bit arbitrary at first what tests will produce what attribute in your subjects. It's also unclear what chance you have of succeeding with your selected team. These made me feel dis-empowered, as my decisions did not seem to be informed.

LD37 — One room

One Roomba by 1y1e 2016-12-15T00:01:00

Interesting idea. It was a bit annoying to type out each command with a fairly limited set, perhaps it could have benefited from visual scripting like placing blocks or linking nodes. Sounds were also slightly grating, something softer would have been easier to listen to repeatedly.

Liberty Room by davisan 2016-12-15T00:06:00

Great pixel graphics with a cool aesthetic, great use of the theme. Platforming was fairly standard but I couldn't get very far before dying. Well polished.

Turn My Room by mikesean45 2016-12-12T20:00:00

Great use of the theme! Movement was a bit unwieldy, especially around corners. Fun game though, I like how the rotation is constantly changing and bringing in new obstacles.

BomBallRoom by Bomballroomstudio 2016-12-14T23:56:00

Solid puzzle game. I liked the controls and the foley sound effects. The physics was surprisingly predictable, I was a bit intimidated at first by the concept of consistently controlling a ball with explosions.

hoplitelite by Attrition 2016-12-12T05:34:00

Very solid puzzle game. From the first level I was engaged by the enemy diversity.

Alchemist Slave by Unentokku 2016-12-12T05:12:00

Interesting objective and simple setup. Fewer ingredients and aspects for the potions would make the game more approachable.

AirportSecurity by Luminar_ 2016-12-12T20:04:00

Well presented with a cohesive style. Reminds me of 90s educational games. Unfortunately the mouse position was inaccurate in the web version so I couldn't get far.

Duelist's Chamber by Piscythe 2016-12-12T20:25:00

Awesome game, one of the most fun I've played so far. The first enemy takes a bit long to fight but the later ones are very engaging. This would a great game to expand on past the jam IMO.

Moonlight Maximum by slimabob 2016-12-12T05:39:00

The movement and gunplay felt a bit slow for a twin stick shooter. Rewards were also slow and I couldn't experience as much as I would have liked to. The progression I experienced though was engaging.

The Room in The Ocean by zoopei 2016-12-12T05:30:00

Decent presentation and interesting theming. I didn't find the puzzles unique or interesting after playing a few levels past the tutorial.

LiftBoy by stepp 2016-12-14T23:51:00

Vertical movement was floaty and awkward to line up with the floors. I could not get the door to open for a while. Interesting concept and decent UI.
