LD45 — Start with nothing

I ain't got no body by WeaverDeveloper 2019-10-09T18:48:47Z

Beautiful visuals and well-themed with how mechanics came by finding different body parts. It took me a while to figure out the first area ( since I didn't know what I could interact with ), but I started to get the hang of it from there.

The camera was what really took me out of the experience, as sometimes I'd be facing the wrong direction as the bosses would attack me. Having some way to manually control it would have been helpful. Also the pumpkin boss was a bit confusing since I didn't know I could pick up / throw objects, so having an interaction like that earlier in the game could have helped me get ready for it.

I beat the game though and overall had fun though, so thanks for making it!

Pangolin in the Sky by ThePelranthean 2019-10-11T05:11:43Z

That was fun! Took me a little while to get the hang of the camera, but I really enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the game once I got going. I like how the different platform types spawn different foliage ( trees for the L shaped ones ), and more unique tiles for the directional ones could have been a cool addition.

Also pangolin.

No Body's Problem by MaggardJosh 2019-10-09T00:15:47Z

Such a great puzzle game. Really enjoyed the progression of levels and how the mechanics of each body part kept evolving through the experience. The music and sfx were spot on as well and that dust particle was beautiful. Loved it!

@room606 We got a web version up now if that will help you play!

In The Beginning by Blueman 2019-10-08T19:53:26Z

This game was really interesting and fit the theme well. The intro sequence to build the beginning of the world was well done and it was satisfying to watch the humans and environment interact together.

I think a timer / how many days + sin it took to win could be a good way to give the game replayability. I ended up just waiting until I had 4 humans early so that it would maximize my resource gathering, but I might have played differently if there was an extra goal to win as fast as possible or with gathering as little sin as possible.

Overall, one of my favorites of the jam so far, great job!

Paws of Gold by Swen 2019-10-08T19:31:12Z

This game was cute and fun! The intro sequence was well done, especially the waving cat paw. I like that you went with all the puns and humor with how the cat talks to you, it added a lot of charm.

One thing that would have helped my experience was that after a barter / purchase, the window would stay open and I'd have to press the X button to close it every time. If it went away on its own, that would have sped up the game a bit and helped it flow.

Other than that, it was a great experience!

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-08T04:35:57Z

This was a wonderful experience! It reminded me of magnet poetry where words and phrases can be rearranged to create new meaning. I really appreciate the deeper meaning through the game and the atmosphere and prose really came through.

This is my favorite jam game so far, thanks for making it!

Nothingland by dreml 2019-10-08T20:07:15Z

That was a fun little experience. The collection and aiming at the same time was challenging and the character slowly upgrading was a nice touch.

I initially thought that getting hit would reduce your level up meter ( and if it went below 0, then you would die ), but reading the comments shows me that nothing actually happens when you get hit, so I must have imagined all that. But that could be a good way to balance risk / reward of collecting versus fighting.

Overall, good job!

Spirit Path by marcell-balog 2019-10-08T23:58:57Z

This game is beautiful, atmospheric, and eerie in a way that adds to the experience without taking over. The music blends well with the emptiness and sense of exploration and every corner might be a new path or a dead end.

I wasn't quite sure what to do with the imprisoned flames, since I would die and they wouldn't be there anymore, but they were still fun to find and collect. I think if there was some ominous story text every so often, that could really add to the who this fire spirit is and their story through the underworld.

Super cool, I had a lot of fun playing!

Roll a Ball Genesis by jsloth 2019-10-08T07:11:15Z

Great job keeping with the theme! This is the most on-theme game I've played so far and I really enjoyed typing to create the world. It added a level of discovery and was fun to see what was coming next.

Music was really good once I found it and I think this concept has potential to be something greater if given more time and puzzles through the key word system.

Awesome for a first game jam!

Attack of the Killer Yarn Balls! by Zliebowitz 2019-10-08T06:57:23Z

The music and visual style was cool, but I got a little lost on what to do ( I only could find 2 levels to run through ). Also felt like the yarn balls would always hit me, even if I timed my claw attack, which made saving gold for the shop really difficult. With that, a bigger claw attack or the yarn balls dealing less damage would have made it feel more balanced to me!

A Nickel For A Kingdom by geist_191 2019-10-08T23:25:41Z

Cool game! The visual style was cute and inviting, which made the world fun to explore. I liked that the different endings gave meaning to your choices and by trading items around, there was a sense of helping out the villagers in need.

I had fun, thanks for making it!

Minno by --0 2019-10-08T06:50:02Z

It took my a little while to figure out how the game worked, but once I got going I was hooked! Really enjoyed the simplicity of the graphics and the complexity of building the inventory. It was really satisfying to find exactly the right spots for different shapes or using what the level showed to foreshadow what to do.

I think you should continue building this one, it has a lot of potential! Thanks for the fun experience =]

Seedling by Apandso 2019-10-08T07:21:18Z

Gorgeous graphics and the environmental theme of repopulating the Earth with life was refreshing. For a clicker game I enjoyed myself -- and at times, just watched the seeds do their thing =]

Return The Stars by BanJaxe 2019-10-08T20:19:11Z

So atmospheric and explorative, I really enjoyed the sense of discovering the world. The little triangle snakes were soothing to watch and it was really cool when more than one stacked together to look like a bigger one.

Definitely the most visually stunning / immersive jam game I've played so far, if the game was longer, I would have kept playing. Great job!

Build Up by Deadlykarrot 2019-10-08T23:41:15Z

Interesting concept, the controls were difficult to figure out, but I enjoyed creating platforms for myself once I got used to them. With some more polish on the control scheme and more guidance through the level, I think there's potential for something greater. Thanks for making this!
