Great mood!

I can confirm that death can put you in a falling loop in which you can't actually keep playing, too bad because I was really enjoying the atmosphere until I could not play anymore.

I restarted a couple of times but it became annoying in the end.

Overall great effort here!

I love the lighting in the game, looks super cool

bungalow 2019-10-07 13:31

Woahhh, this game was really good. The tight intuitive controls, cute but daunting art style and ambient sound really sells the mood. Loved it!

ebbdrop 2019-10-07 13:34

Cool game. really enjoyed the mood. The controles feel a litel stif tho.

thiago-nascimento 2019-10-07 13:35

Very cool mood and environment. I fail to see how it fits the theme (one block isn't nothing), but it is super cool none the less

jedineeson 2019-10-07 16:43

Very cool ambiance, nice music and art. The game is realy. My only concern is about your post date update. I dont think this is allowed in Compo. Still, GG well done!

marcell-balog 2019-10-07 16:53

@jedineeson Thank you for the feedback! I read through the rules, and saw that bug fixes are allowed, so as these were gamebreaking bugs, I felt like I need to fix them. Haven't add any features or such.

king-kujito 2019-10-07 17:24

Cool game. The look and feel are great!

donut-daria 2019-10-07 20:47

such a cool entry! the atmosphere, the feel of searching for the right way in the dark - and it all fits the theme so well!

great game, congrats on the work well done!

erebus 2019-10-07 22:51

Really cool entry. I liked the art a lot. Thanks for bringing it by the stream!

generalbeans 2019-10-08 01:15

Fun game! I lost almost all my spirits before I got to the end, but it was a clever concept and an interesting play. It would be fun to mess around with more puzzles in the game setting, instead of just wandering around and hoping a path shows up! But none the less, was a great concept! Keep working on it!

This is lovely. Really impressed with this. Solid mood, great idea and fun to play. I want to complete this so will come back to it! Great work!

arkinrev 2019-10-08 18:28

I really liked it. The lighting and pixel animation reminded me of the first Diablo in a good way. This is an interesting take on the theme, and I fully support your "No Instructions" stance. Great job!

furano 2019-10-08 18:47

I love your art style, I think it's fitting the mood really well too !

The only downside I could find is that the character is maybe a little bit too slow. A little bit more speed would have make the game more challenging I think :)

adliberum 2019-10-08 20:03

Very clever, progression seems staged really well. Congrats

ulisses 2019-10-08 23:26

Fantastic! I love!

I like the minimal aesthetic. Glad you got checkpoints in there (I definitely needed them a couple times). I didn't realize initially that you needed to press space multiple times to free the flames so I had to backtrack a bit, but not too bad. I would suggest that you put some indication that you need to press space as well (and probably just make it so you need to press only once). Additionally, perhaps make the blocks fall when you're a bit less close to the edge. Really makes the cracked blocks nerve-wracking when you're trying to guess which side will have a platform before it falls. Regardless, I'd say it was an enjoyable experience.

gamedesignguy 2019-10-08 23:58

This game is beautiful, atmospheric, and eerie in a way that adds to the experience without taking over. The music blends well with the emptiness and sense of exploration and every corner might be a new path or a dead end.

I wasn't quite sure what to do with the imprisoned flames, since I would die and they wouldn't be there anymore, but they were still fun to find and collect. I think if there was some ominous story text every so often, that could really add to the who this fire spirit is and their story through the underworld.

Super cool, I had a lot of fun playing!

pedro-rosa 2019-10-09 00:01

The game is simple and fun to play. It is not complicated and that's a thing I like about games, it doesn't make you lose time with explanations. The art style is cool and the mood is so good. One thing that would make the game better would be to have some type of randomness on the path. Because your path is always the same.

shabbyrtist 2019-10-09 20:17

Incredibly! Moving platforms, breakable platforms add to the excitement. Very nice little game! High quality and interesting gameplay.

t-bo 2019-10-09 20:31

catiliangames 2019-10-09 21:07

Really cool idea here! I like the artstyle a lot and had a lot of fun with the game! Great work!

iamberf 2019-10-11 14:47

Cool game! The feeling of exploration makes people feel very nervous! I hope that I can make such a game one day! Learn from you!

freyje 2019-10-12 16:55

Peaceful atmosphere, the graphics and the play of light are nice, just a little hard to find your way around in this labyrinth Well done to you.
