LD46 — Keep it alive

PixelPups by Chilleh 2020-04-21T06:47:51Z

Oh no, I overplayed and overfed. I am a terrible human being :(. Game is pretty fun, pretty cute doggo graphics and the objects as well. I liked the music too, minimalistic but chill. Mechanics of success are a bit cryptic and I am not sure about the monetary aspect of the game, but it still was pretty fun to play.

Keep The Beat Alive! by Willops 2020-04-23T16:58:57Z

This game rocks! I went through all 3 levels and I loved it. Pretty intense stuff. What I think could make it even better would be a small "hit/miss" text popping up to give more info to the player. It could also convey information on how accurate the hit was.

Keep it up, awesome stuff!

Nekotchi by Devastus 2020-04-21T10:38:01Z

Great graphics and sound quality, love it! I never liked Tamagotchi games but I enjoyed my 10 minutes with this one. Maybe some gentle background music to top it off? Either way, great work :)

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-25T08:00:36Z

Awesome work, feels very neat, getting some slight Portal vibes from the humour. I have just one note because a lot has been pointed out already - it was not intuitive to me that move for 1 AP can move further than one block and I played first 2 levels like that. Having an extra tooltip could help. This game is definitely worth expanding, great stuff!

NecroTyper by Tadej 2020-04-21T16:05:30Z

Very well done, performance suffered for me on WebGL but I still had fun. I think this has potential, I also enjoyed the graphics and music. I would combine the controls with mouse so I can type with one hand while doing useful stuff with mouse. Other than that just performance improvements.

Keep It Alive, Keep Enemies Dead by Maksim Chugunov 2020-04-23T09:09:13Z

I love the concept so much! I also enjoyed the simplistic graphics (I was a huge fan of Thomas Was Alone and this reminds me of it) and chill music. The gameplay is theoretically great but a bit clunky - I think the fight could just be placed above the three zones and the blocks would therefore fall in a straight line. Potentially they could just end up in default inventory if you do not catch them (overfill would disappear).

The key struggle is that the blocks are hard to catch with a mouse, hard to "grab" and it seems really hard to get all of them, sort of clunky difficulty factor that can be frustrating.

But this game can be absolutely amazing, I love it, if you have a chance, do finish it. Keep up the great work!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-25T07:39:35Z

Kept it alive for 5 minutes and I have to say this is a pretty solid demo game. Good choice of vibe with music and sound effects and I did enjoy the ramping up difficulty. Enemies had some pathfinding issues and the game would probably benefit from having a second offensive option but I like it! Good work :)

Shelter the Flame by Frozen Spirit 2020-04-21T06:54:25Z

First time, I could not get it to work - it ran in my browser as any other WebGL game, but the game did not capture my controls. But browser restart helped (so if you run into this, try again!).

I like the concept, the hand drawn graphics are pretty adorable and it is an actual challenge. It gets a bit frustrating and I would appreciate if controlling umbrella and blowing on flames would not share a hotkey.

CosmoDoggie by ItsHornUnicorn 2020-04-21T08:20:01Z

Wow, so much work went into the graphics, I love it. And the concept is adorable, reminds me of doggy themed FTL of sorts. Good vibe and great take on the theme. For criticism, I found it unintuitive that you could only repair things when they got broken enough, but I imagine the game would be too easy otherwise? Maybe a cooldown or channel on the repair. Fun concept, keep it up :)

Technical notes: The game is cut off in the WebGL version unless I fullscreen (screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/wQGRQNt.png) - probably something off in the WebGL build settings. Menu music is also brutally loud.

Save the Culture! by Fazy 2020-04-23T15:50:52Z

@tolmera Music is not mine although it is royalty free, so I would not boat with that. Music in the game should work however. Thanks for the thought, I am looking forward to a chance to play your game.

Rumble in the Bronchs by ballipilla 2020-04-22T14:15:35Z

Not too bad, as others have pointed out, music feels great and I love any game that has organism body on cellular level as a theme. Great graphics as well, I dig the simple style.

If I had to point something out, it would be that controls feel too clumsy. I believe that it is better to create difficulty by having more danger or other restraints, not by having "slow steering" movement.

Keep It Alive by Deadwave Games 2020-04-21T08:51:44Z

Wow! The writing and mood is excellent, also supported by a fantastic choice font and visual style. And the way player progresses through the game works so well, adding a lot of suspense and tension. As someone who occasionally enjoys the musical works of Myrkur, Chelsea Wolfe, VĂ li and similar, I have to say I loved the music, it fits so well.

And it is freaking terrifying. I hate it, in a good way. I was horrified by the inevitability, the choice to make it that way really works. To be clear, I found the game so terrifying that at some point I almost could not keep going. I do not read horror stories and I have to say that this felt a lot more scary than Amnesia. I did manage to finish it but oh gods.

Extremely well done horror text game, simple but so on point. Much better than the same story in static text, the game format helped so much.

Notes: I had to look away from the game and the music ran out. I think the music running out did hit the mood but writing was so good I still felt it strongly.

Prime Rush by hlo-world 2020-04-25T08:17:27Z

Interesting concept. Technical note: I had to zoom out on the itch.io page because the game would not fit otherwise - change build settings to fix this.

The mechanics were not always exactly clear, but I think this could be fun.

Goat Sacrifice by Frankie Hobbins 2020-04-21T07:43:44Z

Alright, very cool UI and graphis and the entire vibe. What a great model for the monster and the hungry fish, I love it! I think this has a bunch of potential, great demo.

For criticism, I did not love the "click to move" and I was not sure if the shining "eyes" of the "submarine" were a game mechanic or an animation. Also the standalone version 1.1 refused to run until I renamed the folder inside to Goat Sacrifice_Data, so maybe that could use a bug fix. See screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/vsZKhKf.png

Overall awesome stuff, rock on!
