Nice game, but seemed alot like simple tetris, but the co=op made it awersome
Interesting concept. Technical note: I had to zoom out on the itch.io page because the game would not fit otherwise - change build settings to fix this.
The mechanics were not always exactly clear, but I think this could be fun.
Thanks @devesh-sharma and @fazy for the feedback!
Also thank you @fazy for the technical note, I have rebuilt the game in 2 different resolutions:
https://hlo-world.itch.io/primerush1080p https://hlo-world.itch.io/primerush720p
Also I made adjustments to the game such that when the game starts, there will already be blocks on the board. Hopefully this way, it will let the party get accustomed to shifting the blocks around!
The co-op is nice but sadly i didn't have anyone to play with... I would change the camera angle for a better reading of the game.
PS: If you don't rate other games, your game won't pop-up on the "Games" page! Go rate other games!
@zebraatomica thanks for the insight!
Really cool idea, but I couldn't get the full experience playing it solo. I like the idea of only being able to shift certain rows from each side, as it means each player would have something to do.
Perhaps a "solo mode" where each row can be shifted from either side would be a cool option.
@rjhelms thanks! Indeed, I want to port a version of this game to mobile, so a way to play this game solo is needed for sure!!
I didn't really understand what was going on, probably because of the nature of it being a co-op, I really appreciate the idea of mixing overcooked and tetris somehow but unfortunately I couldn't really experience it :(
@guilherme-oliveira Hey no worries, thanks for dropping by! The game is played with 4 players, each one controlled with keys on the keyboard. The characters can move around (up down left right with corresponding keys).
When moved near a button, the button will light up. That character can then control the corresponding row of Boxes by shifting the Boxes left or right, in order to construct a field shaped to fit the incoming new Boxes. You and others do raise an important recurring theme for me though -- that local co-op is not best suited for LD because others rating me are playing solo. And that is very valuable insight indeed!
This is a very interesting idea!
I felt bit confused while playing it. I didn't felt the need to press red button, just playing it like a normal tetris game was enough to me. Maybe it is because, it was done for 4 players in mind, or maybe the game rules should better explained to the player, but that thing is always tricky to be done in a way that will not bore the player.
@yy404 Thanks for trying it out!
@limbo Yes definitely! Finding an "adjustment for fun" in pace and gameplay is something that I still have to work on. Regarding playing like normal tetris : it is because I did not remove the "normal tetris" controls from the current build, which I used for debugging. Later builds will not have the controls used to play it like normal tetris.
It look like you have a problem with the defeat, the webgl build crashed at the moment when i loose. It's mainly a tetris, not realy innovative, but it works well, good job!
I mean. It's tetris with an odd angle. I really enjoied the purple dancing dude though :D
Played this game solo, I understood the button mechanics only at third playthrough. Played it like regular tetris game, and the tetris part is okay. I think that button part here doesn't do anything for gameplay.
I ran the 1080p web version, but nothing would happen. I just moved my character around trying to figure out how to start the game.
@larnin @rik-thunder @bredian Thanks for giving it a try! The normal tetris controls will be removed in the future, they are only there for debugging.
@whiteseraph Click the Start button on the bottom left!
@hlo-world I understand it better now! Yeah, co-op for gamejams are not the best way to go if you ask me - But it's an interesting idea, I encourage you to take the concept further, I don't think there's enough party games like these out there!
Nice game! I love those little animations during the start screen.
