Amazing game!

davidsheadgames 2024-10-08 01:40

Very neat! I'm impressed you made a whole battle with cards in the jam.

I seem to occasionally hit a bug where after ending a turn, the boss doesn't do anything, leading to an unfortunate soft-lock.

Very neat, though!

rodgems 2024-10-08 01:42

This goes so hard. Didn't quite understand what 'playing a brigade' did without using it, instructions leave it a bit vague, but once you get your head around it, it's sick

zeq 2024-10-08 01:46

I liked this one a lot. At first I didn't understand that you had to do the action in the row in order to activate the creature effects so I died. But once I understood what was happening it was fine. Good game, enjoyed beating the slime. :)

ejunegao 2024-10-08 01:52

I really love the art, the big slime is soooooo cute. I spent the first run understanding the mechanics, which was understandable because it's a card game and the concept of brigade is a little hard to grasp at first. Overall I think the gameplay is really fun and engaging. Great job!

coke 2024-10-08 01:59

Very cute graphics and audio! Not so clear on the first run, but I quickly figure it out and beat the game on the second run. I like how you build your deck and heal or attack or defense at a proper time. That's good you can see enemy's action next time. By the way I think this game was fit the theme "Summon" on the last LDJam too.

Definitely my favorite game of the jam, I'm a sucker for roguelike deckbuilders and Wingspan alike and this hits all the joys of the genre.

First victory, I went and played a few more rounds after with a mana-generation build and some HP stuff. Really really fun!

Great job! Nice atrstyle and concept. More detailed tutorial will be appreciated.

vhalenn 2024-10-08 12:49

The first 3 turns were really hard to understand but once the cycle is understood it is quite fun and that Slime has no chance! Feel maybe a bit too powerful to be able to spam the same lines of abilities every turn. Special mention to the incredible music piece here !

Really cool! Died a few times at first but then it clicked for me and I had a lot of fun. My winning strategy consisted of gathering enough "Block" so that Not-So-Tiny-Slime would never be able to hurt me anymore. The downside was not having a lot of attacking power ^^°

Of course, I also had to try 1000HP mode. At I think it was the halfway point I thought that it sure would be nice if there was a way to speed things up a bit. At least in that mode.

Cool entry!

thanks for the wonderful feedback everyone! am new to this jam stuff, so didn't even realize i could reply to folk.

@davidsheadgames thank you! game is pretty imbalanced from throwing it all together quickly haha a lot more fun mechanics we can do now that we like the foundation. also looked into soft-lock issue, i think also people get hung up on being asked to discard at end of turn which we'll need to tweak

@rodgems @zeq thanks! lotta similar feedback around brigade confusion, so we may switch to making it a card that is always in your hand (maybe flips over upon use)

@ejunegao it's a little crazy but @nataku92 did the coding, music, and art. so yea they pretty much did everything, i just did some of the game design and... uh some words. very glad to hear the art is to your liking!

@coke thanks!! haha i just learned about this jam last week... you're right it could work for summon too!

@poboy we laughed a lot at this feedback. slay the wingspan was our starting point. so... boy do we have a game for you!

@hangovergames most definitely will work on a tutorial/first play next time!

@vhalenn thank you! yes game is definitely imbalanced but thank you for calling out the music!! @nataku92 did an amazing job with it

@sockenpuppe thank you! we're so glad you enjoyed it. and yea the 1000 hp challenge we just threw in last minute so that it didn't end too quickly. maybe adding an auto-button so it just spams all the brigades and ends turn would be a nice little feature!

thanks again everyone!! was a ton of fun

The graphics in this game are adorable! I ran into the same issue as some others where it wasn't clear what I needed to do to attack, but once you get what's going on, it's really clear which elements go with what. One thing I think could help a new user be acquainted to the game would be to start with a single type of character and then work up to the others. Learning what all of the characters all at once could be a bit overwhelming!

Regardless, great job!

firuti 2024-10-10 04:09

@miku yes exactly what we should do for a tutorial! definitely ran out of time, thank you for playing and enjoying the game!

alem26 2024-10-10 08:38

Took a few tries but managed to beat it after a while.

The graphics are really cute, so is the soundtrack. I was a bit confused what exactly to do at the beginning and the overall layout of the game elements is a bit convoluted.

But a nice game overall, I enjoyed it!

regmont 2024-10-10 19:06

Wow! This game actually has balance! I died on the first attempt but won on the second. It was actually fun

kseniya 2024-10-10 22:18

a very beautiful visual! The game is quite enjoyable! You guys are great

andriana-mantidfly 2024-10-10 22:21

Very enjoyable game

f1krazy 2024-10-13 10:08

Very nice! It's impressive that you were able to throw such an impressive variety of cards and mechanics into the game in just 72 hours. As others have said, it takes a few turns to get the hang of what you're doing, but once you do it's very engaging and strategic. Some turns you need to focus on healing from Not-So-Tiny Slime's last attack, other turns you need to focus on generating Blocks to guard against its next attack, and other times you need to take advantage of an opening to hit it as hard as you can. And of course you need to build up your brigades at the same time, so you can do all those things more effectively. It all adds up to a much deeper and more engaging experience than I was expecting. I'd definitely play a whole game of this!

firuti 2024-10-13 14:44

@alem26 thank you for sticking with it! we will definitely work on the tutorial and UX!

@regmont haha thank you! adding the word "actually" before fun meant a lot here! hahaha

@kseniya @andriana-mantidfly thank you!!

@f1krazy thank you for taking the time to write us this thoughtful comment! i think what excites us most about our game is that it's just the beginning; once we have a basic foundation that we like, we can add a lot more interesting card mechanics for new strategies and synergies not only b/w the cards but b/w the heroes. hopefully we'll have more to share with you in the future!

lllarso 2024-10-18 10:03

Very cool game concept! If I read correctly, your team will work on this project in the future, won't it?

The balance is in my opinion totally fine considering that you only had the three days of working on this game. I think if you will work further on this game, it is really important that you get a lot of playtesters, who will try different strategies, so you can see what is OP and what is more on the weak side.

The visuals look good and I like the different colours for the different lanes with "grey cards" fitting in every lane. So I always saw what my next move could be.

The boss was also a nice concept with an "attacking" and a more "defensive" round. This part of the game could also get advanced in the future, to get more variety into the game. Different bosses with different abilities would add depth to a post-release.

I talked a lot about future-stuff, but it should show you that I really like this game you released, because I did not see any major flaws which reduce the fun of the gameplay. Good job for finishing this very polished game! :)

arqcenick 2024-10-23 21:19

The game is so cool! I really like card game entries as they're challenging to make both mechanically and content wise. Really loved the simple art as it all fits together.

Improving the minions with additonal is such a nice concept, also it was relatively easy to get going after the first few turns.

Thank you for this game and thank you for spending your time to write instructions in the game ^^ Great jam entry
