That... was really fun. a couple things could have been more clear... some of the cards said... CHOOSE... but didnt tell me what I was choosing... pretty sure I threw away good cards cause of that. and when you hit the enemy... you lose everything on the field... that woulda been nice to know before I summoned stuff that wouldnt have made it to him...
What a cute little game! I liked the way you translated the monster summoning onto a more physical field, with the marching order type thing. I did have some trouble figuring out the exact way the automatic actions were determined. I'm not much a card game player - even a little cheat sheet of the numbers would be super nice!

A card game with super cute visualizations about what is going on, I love it! I loved the visual style of the hand drawn graphics and especially the face emotions of the characters <3
overall a decent little game. I definitely enjoyed it. Some more different kinds of cards I think would be great, and adding some more sound/music would take it to the next step. Solid base however and definitely enjoyable
Fun style, thanks for the enjoyable gaming experience!

Thank you all! @olavdeng2, out of curiosity, are there any cards in particular you'd think to add? I wanted to add combo cards, (didn't get around to it, lol) like creatures who's health or attack were based on how many cards were in your exhaust pile, or maybe how many creatures were on the field, or a creature who's attack was very high but went lower as it walked away from you. Idk, what were you thinking of?
@exister Combo cards would be good, but maybe also something that effects individual unit on the field. maybe something that pushes back the first enemy in the field for example
I enjoy the game! It is a cute game!

Not big on card games but I found myself finishing it and actually having fun. I didn't know your summons will disappear after hitting it so a rule set before playing would be appreciated. Having said that good idea on it, makes you want to think a bit before summoning in order to be as economic as possible. Good job!
it would have been nice with some kind of tutorial on some instructions, but I did actually find the gameplay mechanics fairly intuitive. The hand drawn style is iconic.. programmer art.. but legible :D
Some audio would have been great, too, but overall, well done on this entry and keep it up!

cute game, cards are hard to read.
Really cute! I like the iconic programmer-art hand drawn cards and overall style and that you game every card a cute name and picture - adds a lot of character!
One bummer was that on my Macbook Air everything is super small and I couldn't really see well (also zooming in didn't work)

I'm not much for card battlers and came into this game without much prior knowledge so the lack of instructions was extra noticeable. Took a while to understand how the game worked and what all the numbers meant.
Once getting past that though, the game seemed to play fairly well and I didn't notice any bugs. Well done!
Something to focus on for future projects would be to get some sound effects and visual feedback into the game. This is something I often neglect too but can really make a huge difference in making the game feel like a proper game rather than a little demo/prototype.
Good luck on any future projects!

That programmer art is cute lol. Some tooltips on hover would have really helped to make mechanics clearer.

Thanks for the feedback! Added into the description more information to help explain the game's mechanics, especially things people said were unclear

What this game needs is voiced sound effects. BWOOSH PATOOO BOOOOOM

Also: Fun, I had a go with the default deck and then tried building my own. Getting some oafs in there and then backing them up with a thief archer combo seemed to work pretty well!
I think numbers were a little hard to see even when zooming in. Maybe if there were slower animations during attacks it would be easier to follow.
Overall I had a lot of fun though. Good job!

Yer a wizard
I like card games and paint drawings are also great
That was pretty fun! I liked the mechanic of creatures proceeding towards the enemy mage, taking up space for summoning. Support spells like sludge and thunderclap rock
The game would definitely benefit from more visual feedback and some sfx. But I do understand that we are all racing against the clock during the jam. On some enemies, the numbers are very poorly visible - could use some background under them or just brighter colors. I also wasn't sure what the big number in the "energy portal" was representing, but mine got up to 5.
Overall, it was a nice experience and I totally won

The visuals are what makes me the most happy about this game and I don't know why, they are so simple yet they have so much soul it's hard to describe! The gameplay is neat, very straight forward most of the time and you quickly understand what each number on a card means after only a single round. My only real complaint (aside from the fact that any noises would make the game a ton more enjoyable) is that I can't infer what my enemies card does, so for the whole of a round or two I was being sniped by a silly ghost at the edge of the screen without knowing why! Still, very neat entry and keep making games!
It took me a while to win and I wasn't sure how much progress I was making. But regardless, it was fun — I liked choosing different card combinations and seeing the results of my choices. I love the hand-drawn graphics. The handwriting on the cards was difficult to read in some cases, but I prefer that over fonts in any case. Overall, a very imaginative game.
That's a cool idea. Really like the combat phases and in theory it could be really cool if during the game you had to choose allies based on your opponents choices. But it didn't work in my case.
I just spammed cards and won. It was fun to watch, but there was no challenge.
The art is really cool! The simplicity is very appealing and everything reads well.
