Great Work! Loved the consistent art style in the game and it was fun to play!

nardandas 2023-10-03 07:47

I liked the concept of having to help the plants grow! I felt there could have been a bit more feedback on whether something was good or not, and maybe a bit of help not picking unripe plants! I also wanted a reason to buy and manage more plants each day, rather than just planing what I have space for and growing them to completion. Really cute art!

metsker 2023-10-03 07:51

Wow. Plant 4 radish was a mistake ahah

kingtuning 2023-10-03 07:51

Cool game, very cool looking and smooth, cool musics and mood; Cheers

poboy 2023-10-03 07:51

Really great use of theme and honestly the mechanic overall is not something I had seen before. Surprising amount of depth and the optimizer in me wants to sit down and figure out how to min-max this game. I wish the walk speed was faster. Overall really great game!

vidu 2023-10-03 07:52

This game art is awesome, the idea is VERY good and right in the theme. To be honest it could be my favorite game played so far but there was too many moment where I got stuck with no way to save my game and it became quite frustrating... But btw, great code, great game, congrats !

okshirl 2023-10-03 07:55

this is so cute! the resource distribution idea is really cool. It's like stardew but more thinking. I just didn't catch that there wasn't an inventory so buying a second seed would get rid of the first seed you purchased D: I had to restart for that. other than that I loved the animation and the music! well done!

jukepoks1 2023-10-03 08:16

first playthrough I picked up the plants way too early and made the roots maybe too long at start. Got kinda softlocked and there is no option to restart. But you can restart the webpage at least.

instruction text keeps reappearing every day and on the store too. maybe move it halfway hidden down out of the way when clicked to close and if hovered over or clicked it would come back to view fully.

music is really fitting, relaxed and up beat.

I like the artstyle. Reminds me of those NES games.

There is a minor bug: you can pick up the plant and not sell it and go to the store buy new seeds and it will replace the plant. Maybe disable shop while you have the plant over the player.

Game fits with the theme very well. you kinda need to play tetris.

You could improve the game to not use mouse at all. Selecting seeds to grow them at night could have the first to the left selected at start and then you need to choose where to grow it. If you wanna plan routes carefully for rest you have to plan ahead, which in turn would be a game mechanic to challenge the player. Growing plants further than their needs are maybe should move to selecting next plant to grow its roots. When all plants have needs met, night would turn to day.

Maybe add indicator when plant is fully grown and ready to be harvested. Then again knowing when to do that is one part of the gameplay also.

second bug: I had a seed on me and was planting it to the second from left slots. I had a plant in the first one growing and I picked it at the same time as I planted the other one. Maybe limit the action to planting when carrying seeds.

not sure what happens if you don't have space for seeds to go to. Maybe option to drop them somewhere?

I'm loving this game, the music is great, I love the idea of planning root paths, but I cannot figure out how to sell plants? I have the carrot in the ground for two nights until it gets big, then I've tried clicking it, clicking E, clicking E again when it's above my head, I have no idea. It means I never get past the first few days so I'm not sure if I can really give this a rating... if someone can help me that would be excellent!

soot-potato 2023-10-03 11:56

This game is very good but cruely needs more feedbacks, the sell box miss maybe a sign, we don't know when the plant has finish to grow, etc. But very cute, music is so good, and realy cool gameplay !

slimefriend 2023-10-03 12:35

@miraculousmelon Sorry about that! You have to bring the veggie to the sell box on the far left. We were really rushed on this so we couldn't provide the proper tutorialization unfortunately :(

Love the graphics and the overall mood. Growing the root is a whole new aspect of farming game <3

lorddaniel 2023-10-03 17:48

I like it, it is simple but very polish, has good graphics, sound, and concept. One recommendation is maybe show what a 'Ready to pick up' plant looks like. I assumed that when it first pop up, it is ready but it is when it get big. Even an small animation to point out that the plant is ready to pick up would work.

doommustard 2023-10-03 18:35

I like the idea, but I do feel like there isn't much to do in the day, if you could buy fertilizer or a watering can to make the night slightly easier then maybe my farmer friend might actually have a reason to get out of bed.

smiley405 2023-10-04 20:30

first of all i love the music in this game "top notch". good use of the day n night cycle and one thing that stood out was the ability to connect the root to water for nutrition during night.

miraculousmelon 2023-10-05 07:01

@slimefriend thanks for the tip! I've played it now and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The art, the animations, the music, all spot on! And the idea of piloting the roots is so good, it's kinda like snake. I think the biggest drawback is the lack of progression. I feel like you pretty quickly get to the radish as it's fairly cheap, and I ended up jamming everything because it isn't really possible to grow 4 at the same time. Maybe there should be a way to buy more space? The fact that you can only use money for plants feels like it limits player choice a bit. Also, it's a little tricky to tell where to sell things and also when plants are fully grown. Maybe a little more playtesting could help iron out all the kinks before release. But overall, very well done!

slimefriend 2023-10-05 13:06

@miraculousmelon yeah we definitely bit off a little more than we could chew with the design, and didn't have time to add much else. we are planning to do a post jam version with more tutorialization, polish, and tweaks, and looking into adding more for the player to do. thanks for the feedback!

nilan 2023-10-06 18:37

Very cute graphics, I really like them. The game seems to lack some guidance, but considering it's a Jam version, it's understandable. Looking forward to future updates with more plants and challenges (how about pests chewing on your roots). Overall, well done!

redoxeide 2023-10-07 01:41

Nice job! I really like the idea of the puzzle with the roots and the seed placement. The graphics and the music are great too!

One very minor opinion: I think allowing the player to undo changes to the root before committing them would add a lot to the feel of the game. It was a little frustrating to miss-press a direction and not be able to undo it.

Other than that, it's a very interesting concept that has a lot of potential to be expanded on. Well done!

designernap 2023-10-08 19:04

I had to restart about 3 or 4 times as I kept pulling the veg out before it was ready! I did manage to get Carrots right though. Wonderful submission here with top graphics and sounds. Great work.

skosnowich 2023-10-13 07:33

It was hard for me to notice if a plant is fully grown or not. I also think that it would've cool if you could undo some actions. Another nice addition would've been to change the water and nutrients in the ground each day or after some days, because if you found a perfect spot for a plant, you simply repeated your actions until the season ends.

Nice game & good job nonetheless!

drumgadget-433 2023-10-13 15:26

@skosnowich

Thanks for playing! These are all improvements that we have discussed for the post-jam version, so this is very reassuring feedback. Much appreciated :)
