My sole complain is that the story is way to short. I can really see how you can expand on the core of this game!

My sole complain is that the story is way to short. I can really see how you can expand on the core of this game!
I think you have something in your hand to make a "real" entire game like that! I like it, very interesting and fun to play. Thank you for your super entry!
@mircea123 We would have loved to have had the time to do more story! But unfortunately, the time constraints didn't allow for it :( although it was already an extra feature we hadn't initially planned to do so we're pretty happy we even got it in! Some more paths and decisions would definitely be cool though!
@flying-butter-studio Thanks so much! We're definitely happy with actually managing to get all the planned features in for the first time in a jam!
The game was nice, i took fun playing it ! Good job !
I wish that there was a level select. Everything else in this game is very good though!
nice! I really felt super tense trying to meet those quotas, and I really liked how out of control things felt - well balanced to make it feel like a good puzzle/simulation game :)
would have been nice to see a little more polish, but it's nothing critical - there were a few times I ran out of seeds though, and that was kind of annoying. particularly the succulents lol.
good job overall :)
WOW, the story here is awesome! the mood is fantastic, it all feels very melancholic and sad, the music adds to this and the story that is set in a warring nation is fascinating! My favorite entry in the jam currently, very well done! Graphics were coherent, the gameplay was innovative, and challenging, The choices you make in the story (although there arent many) are nice and overall, this game is nice. Well done to the team, I hope I'll see more games like this! X
Reaally liked the game it was suprisingly fun it didn't seem fun at first but it was really amazing and I liked the graphics as well
Its been some time since i commented but I keep thinking about this game because I love it so much, I would really love to get to know the people who made this game, so here's my discord tag if you'd like to add me and chat :D: geronimo8230
@traq-kay So happy you enjoyed it!
@equalenergy Thank you! I think we wanted it to be continuous with the weeks but maybe that would have been nice to be able to go back and try different choices. Hopefully, it's short enough that playing through again to try and hit quota isn't too much of a slog!
@greenpig Glad you got into the swing of it!
@aidanbacon Thanks so much for the feedback! I also found the succulents super annoying to grow a bunch haha! The key is to keep them away from flowers so the soil stays unfertile and they don't die! There's always enough seeds to exceed the quota though!
Would love to hear any tips for adding more polish too, or any specific bits you felt like could be improved. I love hearing anything no matter how small as it's often not something we necessarily notice or think of having stared at it for three days!
@geronimo It's so lovely for us to get a response like yours so thank you so so much! Great to hear you enjoyed it and will drop you an add on discord :)
Really cool game. Definitely enjoyed trying to meet those quotas!
Awesome little game! I really enjoyed playing. I failed to meet the criteria on all except the last mission haha I like how he remembered what happened last time and alluded to it. Felt like the game was reacting to my actions. I like the ending as well. The art is nice, and the gameplay is fun. Is it just me or does the blurry photo of the developer look like the Godot logo (very sus :D)
Nice relaxing game, a bit of paper please moral decision, making spiced it up nicely. Well done
@emilyy Happy you enjoyed it!
@maksimj Whaaaat?! It was definitely a totally original drawing of our team members... that happen to have blue skin...
@evilmurlock Thank you! Very glad we got to add the story to it otherwise it would have been much less interesting just meeting the quotas!
I was just about to stop playing, but reading the comments, i decided to continue. Definitely not regretting that decision, good job on your game!
I really liked the game's unique approach, combining a puzzle with a deep narrative in a limited space environment. The mechanics of decisions that affect the outcome and the pressure of quotas made the experience engaging. The graphic work is lovely and the subtle inclusion of the Godot logo was a creative touch. Congratulations on your excellent team collaboration!
@raassh23 Thank you for continuing! You're not the only person to comment that it starts a little slow so that's definitely something we'll think about for next time to try and make it engaging from the get go!
@pabloabraham We use the Godot logo for all our graphics as a placeholder before drawings are done so it felt about time we should leave one in for the final game! Glad you enjoyed the experience!
Super solid game in all aspects. Didn't expect that much variety in the ways the different plants grow.
Really good game, super chill and a great range of plants to grow with their own conditions and affects that all can both compliment or impede each other.
@nekusoul Thank you! We did try and add enough plants to make it interesting and keep them each unique!
This is an excellent project, the presentation is on point, lots of variety in the way the plants are played, quotas are tight, and the story is effective. No notes. Super impressive!
@shmi Thank you! We put a lot of thought into the plants and tried to make the interactions between them interesting!
@alfred-clark Thank you so much for the positive feedback!
Wow this game is great! The story makes it even better, I was surprised to find out I actually had dialog options. Great job!
I had a good time, but somehow failed everything in between except the first and last  The interaction with Jon was nice, kinda a feedback. His... Storyline is very fun, but it does not really fit with the sound and sooth images. Its fun tho!
@gobos12 Thank you! We would have loved to put more options in as well if we had the time!
@lizz Haha that just means you gotta do a second run through to get a nicer ending ;) but yes, we did try and give it the contrast for that dystopian vibe but we definitely could have put more bits in the visuals to tie it to the story a little more!
cool design! I enjoyed the music :)
I liked the idea of a constraint in the project. Not only the limitation of the territory, but also the limitation of terms.
@dan-burns Thank you! @naynay116 was so ill at the time so we're so grateful she still managed to do something that fit th vibe so well!
@fatemperor Thanks! We wanted to try and not push the theme or make it too forced so glad it worked out!
I liked the concept! The music, art and narrative all fit together. Good job!
@ricardobusta Thank you so much!
I love home music, sound and visual feedback tied together!
Really polished and fun game, amazing job!
I can tell it's a Godot game because it crashes Chrome on my Mac. Other people in my game dev group were having that problem too. But it worked in Firefox. I've seen a lot of gardening games with this theme, and this was one that I could get into. Good job. I did have an issue with the very bottom tile. It grew some weeds and I wasn't able to destroy them because it seemed like the UI was covering the space.
@asfdfdfd @roka-josh Thank you both so much!
@johnsensei Thanks for the more detailed feedback! Interesting point on the crashing Chrome, we'll have to find someone with a Mac to play test for us next time so we can try and fix the issue! You are able to zoom in and out and pan around which should solve the tile issue since we didn't know how big the grid would be when we implemented it (and also how I justified to the programmers that a tiny plant should absolutely be 400x400 pixels) but the default grid positioning was almost perfect in the end so you don't really need to move camera so you don't notice that you can! Until you need to kill some weeds at the bottom haha. Maybe would have been good to have some kind of indication that camera movement was an option! I will add it to the controls bit in the description. Thanks again for the feedback, it's super helpful!
nice, pleasant, relaxing...
every time I thought I knew how to play the game, another mechanic came and I had to plan everything again :)
great entry
@skel3ton Thank you! Glad to hear we kept it interesting throughout!
This would deserve a post jam version with a bit longer story. The growing in the later stages becomes a bit chaotic, I felt like I couldn't just do it, and missed few quotas, but it's a nice concept.
Very relaxing, even though you are trying to rush to meet the quota. I think it's because of the music and aesthetics. I liked the graphics on the plants and the ground. Have one little nitpick here  - the graphics of the title does not go well with the graphics of the game. The title feels more fitting to something electronic, cyberpunky even.
The game played well, and I didn't notice any bugs or strange behavior. Feels quite polished. If I composed a wishlist of tiny improvements, including max yields in the tooltip for each plant would be the first on it. I guess it was a part of the learning process to have some plant die on you, so you could learn their maximum possible growth. But personally, I would prefer to know in advance, how much stuff I can get from a plant :smile_cat: A longer story with more side events would be a second.
I really liked the addition of mushrooms - felt awesome to get some use out of those dead plots that I felt bad for not clearing. All seemed to work out well for Daniel and his wife, as well as Jon in my playthrough  Screenshot_4.jpg
Interesting game, a weird juxtaposition of political story and comfortable garden simulator which kinda works, but it feels a little mismatched at times.
It was nice planting stuff and watching it grow, and learning from my mistakes to tend my garden better, but I did feel it's still a bit overwhelming. I played a bit of sandbox after clearing the game and wasn't really able to fill the space which was a shame, I was hoping as I got better at managing my time I could fill the garden entirely but it's pretty hard to do.
The interface and gameplay was pretty well explained and understandable, I think the objectives were very harsh but maybe that's intentional? Tooltips were pretty good but it would be nice to know if a plant is going to wilt next day, it's hard to keep track of them all.
Overall I liked it and it was a cute little game, great job :)
@fabula-rasa Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! Great to hear you got good outcomes for everyone! I agree more side stories would have been nice, but unfortunately jam time constraints wouldn't allow it :( although I did say to Ciaran that having Dan's story be in the second week would maybe even it out a bit more and make the rest of it feel less empty but he'd put it there with the intention of more side stories later and, unfortunately, the untidiness of jam code made it hard to move!
Yield for plants is a really good idea actually, we hadn't considered that but, of course, when you get your quota, you have no idea how many berries you get from a bush so I guess that does make it hard to plan. The mushrooms do actually harvest how many are on the tile but I guess that's the only one with an indicator.
Ooh I like the comment on the title! It's the first time in 5 jams where I haven't drawn the title from scratch (only added the little squares this time, tried to make them look like the buildings but not sure it quite worked out that way) due to time constraints, so will defo bear in mind for next time trying to make it more cohesive with the vibe of the rest of the game!
Thank you again for the feedback!
@3mpty Thank you for the feedback! I agree the story and visuals could have been more cohesive. Maybe I could have put some elements indicating discourse in the background or a slower ramp up in the story would have had the effect of easing you into the political story after feeling like it's a cosy game.
Lovely to hear you played around a bit after the story too! I agree some indication either visually or on tooltip would have been good to see whether you need to harvest imminently as it does get to be quite a lot to keep track of. Thanks so much again for playing and the feedback!
Nice game. Like the concept, graphics and sound. Well done!
Very interesting game! I really liked how the plants interacted with each other and played the game multiple times to find the some better strategies. In the end I ended up with something like this: Bildschirmfoto 2023-10-15 um 20.42.55.png
Sometimes I wished there would be some more information visible, like whether I can still harvest a plant next round or if it will die this round and maybe it could be a tad more forgiving, but this way it fits the story (the story also adds a nice nuance to the game, wished there were some more encounters with neighbors) Very fun game!
This is the longest I've spent playing a Ludum Dare game this time around so far, and it's amazing how much you did here! Not only is it a gardening game, it's also a puzzle game and has some cool other stuff going on with the meritocracy, other people, and even just generally gardening on top of a building 🤣
I also enjoyed that messing up once (I was short on flowers, whoops!) didn't immediately end the game.
This was really cool balancing everything! And I loved gardening as a puzzle game.
@oadt Ah nice! It's interesting seeing how different people approach it. I'm glad you enjoyed enough to play multiple times through! I agree thatit would have been nice to have more tooltip info and definitely would have been nice to have more fleshed out story!
@cataclysmicknight Aww, so happy to hear you played for so long! I personally get frustrated and rage quit if a game puts you back to the start constantly so I wouldn't want to put that in my own game (but that's probably because I'm not very good at certain types of game :P ). Thank you for playing and enjoying our game!
Very good job! Cool idea and realisation. Graphics is good too.
