Bullet hell and crafting in one time? Why not! I would like craft more buildings)
this was a really fun experience, even though i felt a bit lost at first, the tutorial button was really helpful. Really liked the audio. Congrats on the game. I would maybe add the tutorial inside the game. Awesome game nonetheless
I played the web build and it seems like the tutorial text is REALLY small in comparison to the giant pixel art. The two buttons in the top-right corner are not very clear in terms of what they do. I clicked one out of curiosity and was booted back to the title screen. I thought I lose my progress but it turns out it was just a tutorial. I appreciate the tutorial, although I do feel like it just kind of threw a lot of information at me without a lot of sense of progression to the tutorial. I know there is some, a lot of the steps are just multiple textboxes scattered across the map.
I also had trouble understanding what to do after building the ship. After assembling it to the point where I couldn't place any more wood to build said ship, I wasn't able to progress. I like the concept of the game a lot though; it's fun to dodge the cannon balls while trying to gather the resources needed. I just had trouble understanding a lot of the UI and progress. The direction with the treasure wasn't very clear. Was I supposed to pick it up? I thought they were grenades at first. Is it possible to do combat with the ships while you're collecting resources and not on a ship?
The music is fitting and the chunky pixel art style is neat. I just found a lot of the text difficult to read - even on the Itch.io page, it seems like the logo and Game Over text become more of a background and are hard to discern as text. I like the idea a lot and the look of the ship on the game page is very nice.
Hey @proz, thanks for playing! We appreciate the idea about crafting more buildings, but it was the goal to build a ship and the planks on the ground. Maybe walls? :D
Hi @wiru, glad you had fun with the game! Thanks for the kind words on the audio. Means a lot!
Hello @random-storykeeper, really grateful for your detailed feedback. We're taking note of your thoughts on the tutorial text size and the UI. The insights on ship-building, treasure, and combat are spot on and we'll review those parts. Thanks for the love on the music and art style, @steiner2001 deserves all the praise for those. We could have definitely worked on text readability a bit more. Thanks for playing and giving us your thoughts!
Played on the web build. The text is quite small, but it was manageable.
Cons:
- the controls are a bit fiddly, placing planks in particular is...confusing because it seems to be placed on the cursor, but still at a max distance, but you can't see where it'll actually land. A preview would have been nice!
Pros:
- the artwork is lovely, and the music fits the idea really well! - once you get more acquainted with the controls and the bullets start flying left and right, it becomes a really fun a challenging game! (maybe increase the movement speed a little bit, some bullets feel like you can't avoid them at all) - the tutorial island helps immensely, thank you very much for this kind of attention.
All in all, a short and enjoyable experience, with very few issues (and none that couldn't be improved with a few more days of work)
Hope to have something to fight back the pirates!
@tmpxyz It's a secret but you can actually cut them down like trees. Shhh, don't tell anyone else. :D
Awesome game ♡. I had fun trying to assemble my ship while dodging the cannonballs. Graphics are on point. Music and audio overall is nice too, i accidentally left my volume on high, so the first cannonball explosion that hit me really boosted my alertness for the day, for which i am grateful. Nice work!
Well done guys, super fun game. Pixel art is on point here, personally I prefer when all the pixel art matches in size but it still looked good. You went through a lot of effort to put the crafting system in, so props to you. Good submission :)
I really enjoyed this game, the simple mechanics and tasks you have to complete along with the dodging of the cannon balls blend together really nicely into a game that is simple yet fun. While the art was simplistic, I did really like it. I think my main criticism of this game is the accomplishment you receive from finishing your goal, for me playing on the downloadable ZIP when you finish, the game just closes/crashes. I would have really liked to see some sort of score or time menu somewhere when you finished, but without things like that, you really don't have a goal to work toward (e.g. get more gems). This made it feel like it didn't matter whether I got every single gem or no gems at all. Apart from this issue I thoroughly enjoyed it and if there was more work put into it I'm sure it would be a great game. Thanks, and have a good day!
@multitone Hey! Thanks for playing the game! I'm sorry you had issues, we couldn’t really test the Windows version so I removed it from the download list for now. Could you please try the web version if you have the time? It has a working win screen and even a leaderboard where you can save and compare your score against others.
@remus Ah yes, having played through the web browser version the issues stated by myself were not there. Thanks for letting me know, I have updated your score appropriately. Thanks! :)
Good gameplay, but a bit heavy.
Fun game, but a bit too short! Wel done
Really fun game, I'll be coming back to set a higher score. It'd be cool to see more levels!
I didn't understand game from begining but then I enjoied it a little bit. Nice submission I think!
Great game. I dig the soundtrack and overall atmosphere of the game
I think the game would really use how to control, i got to pick up a thing but then i did not know what to do and where to go :D and what to click. Really cool pixelart!
@qaolin @anton4ik-dev Hey! We have a tutorial if you press the question mark button. Also try the game in fullscreen if you haven't already. Good luck and thank you for playing!
@winie @flashlight13 @mooobster @kapuetze @osh-studio @kotyasin @genroa Thank you for playing! I'm happy you enjoyed the game! :)
very good graphics, and cool concept but I felt it a little bit too slow
Dang, this was a really nicely executed concept! The tutorial seemed like it could have been built more organically, but once u know the rules/mechanics it's a nice game. The graphics and music are also pretty well done. I don't think I would play it for more than the 5-10 minutes I did play it for though; it seems that at least at its current level there isn't much depth, but I could totally see this as a proof of concept for something much grander!
I love the crafting and graphics! very nice game. The camera felt a bit jenky and the movement wasn't the smoothest but overall i liked the game!
Once I played tutorial island and realized I could only pick up one item at a time, the game became really fun! The chunky pixel art aesthetic gave the game a fun vibe. The music set the tone for some swashbuckin' adventures! It was a blast (pun intended) dodging cannonballs and grabbing treasure. I did have trouble getting on my boat at the end. Oh well, time to dig up the rum! Nice entry!
Great concept, perfectly in line with the theme, beautifully executed. It was really fun to play. The treasure mechanic could have been improved so that it wasn't just about scoring (to buy something, upgrade, move to another island... etc...) It's a concept with great potential! Very well done overall. Bravo!
Nice little game. I wonder if it would be possible to put more emphasis on the tide and less on the pirates to match the theme more strongly but now I say that I'm not sure it would be at all easy to make work in gameplay terms.
@alpacalypse The water is actually rising, just slowly. It was way harder when it was faster. :D
Good game! Great graphics and music, solid game mechanics.
