LD54 — Limited Space

I found this game was artistically pleasing yet mechanically confusing. I really liked the art style of the game, however, there were a lot of issues with the gameplay itself. The first thing I noticed was the cropping of the screen, there were problems in the web browser and the downloadable game, but it wasn't game-breaking as all the rules were mentioned in the web browser. The second thing was the disorientation that I faced when playing. In my opinion, the camera rotates too fast and it messes up my coordination making me press s instead of d or something similar. Lastly, I had no idea what I was doing. I was practically guessing what I was going to do because I wasn't being told what I was doing right or wrong, this may be because I'm stupid (most likely cause) but I didn't understand what I was doing, and when I got the answers right, I didn't even have time to realise what I did because the items were moving so fast. I think that this could be a good game, but because of the flaws mentioned, it degrades its destiny. Nonetheless, creating a game is difficult, and I believe you could make this game great if you wanted. Thanks, and have a good day! :)

High Tide Heist by Remus 2023-10-03T09:02:47Z

I really enjoyed this game, the simple mechanics and tasks you have to complete along with the dodging of the cannon balls blend together really nicely into a game that is simple yet fun. While the art was simplistic, I did really like it. I think my main criticism of this game is the accomplishment you receive from finishing your goal, for me playing on the downloadable ZIP when you finish, the game just closes/crashes. I would have really liked to see some sort of score or time menu somewhere when you finished, but without things like that, you really don't have a goal to work toward (e.g. get more gems). This made it feel like it didn't matter whether I got every single gem or no gems at all. Apart from this issue I thoroughly enjoyed it and if there was more work put into it I'm sure it would be a great game. Thanks, and have a good day!

@remus Ah yes, having played through the web browser version the issues stated by myself were not there. Thanks for letting me know, I have updated your score appropriately. Thanks! :)

@kennyklizzle @noobgeek @leo-lin Sorry about that! I think the issue is fixed now, this is my first game jam, and a tiny bit clueless. Everything should be running fine now. Thanks for playing!

@nozomu57 Thanks for playing, sorry about the darkness, I didn't intend to make it impossible to see, on my screen it is fine but I neglected what other would see on different devices due to time. Sorry for that!

Hey there! Could you please add some sort of note on how to open the game, can't seem to figure it out by myself on the ZIP file, thanks! :)

Really liked the game! The core mechanic is very simple, however, adding multiple planets into this game really helps with the fun of multitasking. The multitasking done here is excellent as you only need to control one thing about each task, this makes it simple but when managing multiple planets makes it very exhilarating. I felt genuine accomplishment out of this 5 minute long game and that is a very difficult thing to do. This really is an amazing game and you all should be very proud of yourselves. Thanks and have a good day! :)

The art style of this game was very well done, however, I did find this game quite confusing at first. I think what you need to do is to communicate to the player more about what he can or can't do. I walked over one of the oval circle things (my guess is you didn't have enough time to make all the assets), and nothing showed up on the checklist. I thought it was bugged or something but I had unknowingly opened a door to one of the items you need. This game could really benefit from more communication with the player, even something like signs where you were going could've been a very big help. In one of my runs, I thought I was exploring new territory when really I had gone a full circle and ended up back at the start. Another problem I encountered was the lack of challenge, and therefore a lack of fun. Really all you have to do to defeat the aliens is to hold left click and they all vanish before you. The aliens were more of a disturbance than an actual challenge. I'm not too sure how to combat this, but a difficulty curve wouldn't be the worst solution ever. I'm sure that these problems were due to the limited time of the event, and I'm sure you can implement these things if you were given unlimited time. Thanks, and have a good day! :) P.S. where was the fire? :(
