Fun and educational. I think most kids nowadays don't have the slightest idea where that Grammy SugarⓇ on their table comes from, which is quite sad. This game could start to change that.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD52 → My New Job as a Grammy Bouncer at the Local GramCo Sugar Factory?!

@justinmullin :rofl: Thanks! I'm not gonna lie, for a moment I thought this was a bot comment scraping my game for key words to use, lol!
Hah! Well I'm not a bot, but that's just what a bot would say. Here's some actual game feedback:
- I found myself wanting additional grammys to drop to up the challenge, but at least as far as I could progress, that never happened. - The sound effects are great. - Sometimes the bounces would be _way_ faster or slower than I expected. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing, but it made it difficult to feel I was in charge. I figured out that moving the bouncer does impart some velocity to the grammy, but I'm not sure that's the entire picture. In the end I resorted to trying to shoot the grammy at as high a speed as I could at the right angle, which seemed a decent strategy. - I very much enjoyed the writing and the theme.
@justinmullin I appreciate it!
- Were you able to progress through the multiple levels? There's a bonus round at the end where they can drop closer together. I haven't managed to get more than 50% yield on that one. - Thanks! - It's true, I played around with different values for the Grammy gravity but found I enjoyed the value that lets the bouncer impart velocity. I felt like that gave me more control than a brick breaker clone. - I'm glad you liked the writing and theme! :smile_cat:
@papabirb, no unfortunately I was not able to progress past the level where there are ~8 grammys and you need 75% yield, so I never saw the bonus round. Maybe I'll take another spin through and see if I can get that far.
Can listen to the granny sound effect all day, haha! Well done!
@knatterton Haha, thanks! I felt like such a goober recording the lines in Audacity, but post processing saves lives!
BUG REPORT.png 1 like :thumbsup: 1 prayer :pray: for the grammy :older_woman: stuck in belt and softlocking :lock: the game :video_game:
@shreemp Fixed! :eye: :lips: :eye: :wine_glass:
Seriously awesome game!
The end was hilarious even though Bob cost me my job. (The machines are coming to replace us honest human workers!)
Will leave a 5-star review on Glassdoor either way.
Soundtrack is great and I listened to the song again once I saw you linked it here :)
@ofiro Thanks so much! :smile_cat:
Bob was just looking out for the company's bottom line, he knows we're all busy as hell :slight_smile:
I'm glad GramCo will be getting a good review on Glassdoor & that you liked the soundtrack!! I had a lot of fun with the soundtrack and the story, lol! :smiley_cat:
Great music! Also the granny voice lines are hilarious. Fun game! :)
@yubs Thanks so much! :smile_cat:
Loved it! The art was consistent and added to the mood nicely.
Also the whole concept of bouncing the grammies into the harvester was fun. I found it really satisfying when I managed to get them in. Wish I could figure out a consistent strategy for getting a high bounce!
lol XD, the graphics and sound efffects are great, the music is a bit monotonous. It's a really funny setting too btw.
@procrasteroid Haha, I'm still working on a consistent strategy myself! Glad you liked it :smile_cat:
@nullval I'm surprised by the comment that the music is a bit monotonous. [Have you listened to the full song?](https://tinyurl.com/2lahz794) You might just be too good at the game lol, my song's a little long so it really only shines if you're struggling lol! If you do think the full song's too monotonous I'd be curious to hear why :)
This game is just another example of games as an artform. It's a highly relevant critique to the society we live in. How an old struggling grandma who should be taking life easy is forced back into the working machine :older_woman:.
Great voice acting :laughing:
@ekoxe lol, it's the truth! Those poor old grannies not getting to retire :crying_cat_face:
Glad you like the voice acting! I felt silly doing it till I pitched it up afterwards. Can't cringe about my own voice if I can't recognize my own voice!
Love the voices for Grammies! Cool game :)
@zimny11 Thanks! :smile_cat:
Hih what a fun game!
- I love the sound effects, I think one of them at one point said "oohh my hip" :'-) - The bounces were a bit unrelieable sometimes I think. There were points where the bounce was very low and I could not get it higher - I like how there is a bit of a story line in this one. The tutorial level is very well woven into the game - Not a fan of the gaphics though, I'm sorry. The background is very cool though! Looking at your previous entries, this is clearly a stylistic choice, which makes it somehow better for me :-)
@wouter52 Thanks for playing, I'm glad it was fun!
- It's true, that's exactly the voice line is! Other lines inclue "Oh my" and "Oh dear", the rest of the vocalizations are language nonspecific lol :) - You gotta give them a good smack. The paddle impacts impart velocity into them, and it's even possible to hit them so hard they bypass collisions and escape the map lol. (Which I thought was funny so I kept it in for the jam version, but is absolutely a bug that must be squashed if I develop it further lol) - Thanks! It's my first time actually managing to get a story into a game instead of only being able to explain it in the description. I'm glad you think the tutorial is well woven in, it's my first time even having levels too lol, I usually make endless highscore games! - I'm glad you like the background, it's my least favorite asset lol. Just couldn't get the "factory" vibes right. As for stylistic choice, that depends on if you're comparing it to my entries prior to LD51 or not lol, I only did code and like 1 or 2 assets for LD51, I was on a team with a friend :smiley_cat: I mostly made placeholder MS paint art in this jam then rolled with it because art is hard and I wanted to be done before deadline lol.
Hilarious. Had fun playing on stream. Made plenty of sugar for Grammie crackers!
I was dying to bounce multiple grammies at once so the ending was a nice treat hehe. Loved the writing, super charmed by this disturbing little game.
@kevin-barrios Haha, I started out with multiple bouncing but it was super hard to have any score accuracy! So I saved it for a bonus level. Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing! :smile_cat:
Brilliant game! Grandma's voice is the best! The very idea of a bouncing grandmother I just loved :laughing:
@iskra Haha, thanks so much! I loved recording her voice. Bouncing grandma was so strong an idea I had to make it no matter the theme, lol! :smile_cat:
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the start of your game if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts youtu.be/qbBq_nBKk5k?t=2830
Loved the Granny bouncing sfx, took me a little while to understand how to make the Grannies bounce higher. Congrats on the fun entry!

Nice and funny game! Like the mechanics sooo much, and it is just fun to bounce some grammy, if you know what I mean ;)
I had no idea what I was getting into when starting up this game. To be fair, I don't think anyone could lol. Super fun and creative entry! ^-^
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Oh, and I almost forgot : HA HA HA! (good job, it was really fun to play :smile: even if I only got 2100$ to the end because I'm so bad at this kind of game)
@lereveur Lol, glad you had a good time!! It's okay, I think the best I've gotten and/or seen anyway is $2800 or $3000, the bonus level's pretty hard! Thanks for playing! :smile_cat:
This was a lot of fun to play and a very well made concept. I liked the sound effects!
@eldogg I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing! I loved making the sound effects! :smiley_cat:
Since rating is still not over, I decided to try some more gems :D and this game was definitely one of them! Lots of fun playing this one, visuals are nice and sounds are so funny and cool! Good job! If you would like to shred some zome zombies in slowmo while rating is still going on, be sure to check out my entry, I would love to hear your feedbacks!
@hayricakir Thanks so much for that last minute rating!! I didn't see this comment in time to give you a last minute one, but I'll still give your game a try later and leave a comment! :smile_cat:
