Very challenging game, loved the fire/water mechanic, makes the player plan every step

Very nice art style, I especially love the effect when a room appears. I would 100% play this again if you decided to expand on it.

The shops are great, the fighting works well, an impressive enemy selection and sprites for a jam game. Controls are good too.

One thing I would change is to Lerp/Tween the position instead of teleporting for movement.

willoxs 2022-04-05 13:21

That was really good. It scales well with the upgrades from the shops and such. I aways like turn based games. One thing i found strange however is how the suringe gives you more health but negates that immeditely with faster burning - but maybe that was intended as a balance mechanic.

heho 2022-04-05 13:21

quite a creative spin on the theme. I quite enjoyed this game

nocuous-pinch 2022-04-05 13:21

i really love how you put the shop there, really cool :D . the mechanic are awesome really fit with the music and the art :D

danonino 2022-04-05 13:21

Draws some heavy inspiration from baba is you's artstyle, but i liked the machanic of turnbased movement with the burning. That being said maybe the player could only burn if there are still enemies alive in the room as then you could actually backtrack and see all the stuff. Great little game nontheless.

lussiousli 2022-04-05 13:23

It's sooo fun! I love the machanism!

althasor 2022-04-05 13:23

Actually love the game. Something about the the fire mechanic is weirdly satisfying and I can't pin down why. The art doesn't get in the way of the gameplay at all.

Great game, it kept me playing for a long time! What I particularly liked was how strategic it was; every room was like a little puzzle I had to plan my way through, and a lot of thought went into it. I also liked how powerful a lot of the powerups felt, like full heals or increased attack range, it made collecting them feel more meaningful - it would've been nice if the water bottles scaled with storage, but I can see why that might be a little overpowered! The artstyle was brilliant as well, I loved how simple it was yet how well it worked, and the little line boil effect was a nice addition to that. Really well made game, and it was great fun playing it, well done!

lonelyliongames 2022-04-05 13:44

I really liked it, an original and challenging idea :)

The art is also very simplistic but fits together well

paperaeroplane555 2022-04-05 13:44

love this entry! its super engaging to keep the balance between water and health, and theres a lot of depth in the two modes of attacking since there is a lot of variety of enemies for a game jam game :>. i also really liked the shop music lol. i just wished it was easier to predict the enemy's movement, since it appears that the enemies move before you attack :/. also its kind of difficult to see whether you are in range to get hit by an enemy?? other than that i think this 'being on fire' mechanic works super well with the theme and the gameplay :>

jzucc12 2022-04-05 13:51

Really neat idea for a dungeon running game. I liked how every action drained hp and how that value increased as you progressed. The use of water as an attack as well as healing was smart too!

wetburritosupreme 2022-04-05 15:35

Great game! Nice and challenging, with a good variety of enemies and abilities. Thanks!

daniel-foutz 2022-04-05 16:06

This is great! You packed a lot of content for a jam game I'm really impressed. For me the number of buttons was a little hard to juggle on a keyboard but I bet on a controller that wouldn't be an issue. It's genuinely fun. Great work!

janku 2022-04-05 16:12

Isaac-like map and concept, but with fun tactical twist. I like it very much, great work!

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 22:24

I am getting a bit of a BABA is you in the art style! I love that you turned moving into a strategic decision, which makes if feel like crypt of the necrodancer. Really good entry

ideaspersecond 2022-04-06 02:24

The concept is very enjoyable and balancing all the different levels is quite challenging, but fun! Also, as others have mentioned, the BABA is You art style is on point! Great work!

wlqwos 2022-04-06 18:32

The programmer's art that we deserve, lovin' it

jakubbala 2022-04-07 09:53

Actually amazing game. I love the concept of two resources that balance each other out, and I loved how it was turned based so you could strategise about what you were going to do instead of frantically panicking. The art was super good, and the music and effect were very effective. A very polished game overall that was very enjoyable while staying challenging. One thing I wanna mention though, I was developing RSI from having to spam the spacebar to regen health using water lmao

mosman 2022-04-07 09:58

Very cool! Love the simple art style, it's very pleasing. Maybe there are, but I never played a game with this kind of gameplay, its very fun! And already so well balanced for a gamejam?? Amazing :)

zappablamma 2022-04-07 10:10

@jakubbala Thanks! Sorry about the RSI - just a heads up that you can hold space to heal rather than just tapping it!

jakubbala 2022-04-07 10:11

@zappablamma ooooooooooooh I did not notice that, I am dumb XD

magus77 2022-04-07 12:40

at first i was like, wtf these controls how do i remember that? but it took like 3 seconds to work it out once started :) nicely done this!

bastilo 2022-04-07 14:24

Nice little game! I like the feel and the asthetics.

benskca 2022-04-07 23:50

I absolutely love this! The art style is super fun and the wiggling on every sprite reminds me of baba is you (in a really great way). It's super impressive to have made such a functioning roguelike in 72 hours and it's really satisfying exploring. I'm not sure how it would work balance-wise if this wasn't the case but it felt a little strange to me that you could heal completely off of the games clock, it gave me quite a few outs from messing up combat encounters because if I had enough water I didn't have to worry about how I'd approached the encounter. I had a blast playing and would be really excited to see what you guys made if you decided to continue with this! Great job!

jandourek 2022-04-11 15:44

Very fun game and a pretty unique idea too! I like how bad it gets when you start taking a lot of walking damage. It gives it a nice difficulty curve! The art is quite funny as well! I think it has lots of potential! :)
