This game was awesome! It took a few tries to really get my stride, but it was fun AF! I really liked the splicing and the randomized market + events. You can really tell that there is a lot going on under the hood so to speak.
It took me a second to get into the game, but after that I really got was to addicted to cultivate the perfect cabbage and well...

So yeah, obviously I liked it  But I think the newspaper should be a bit more relevant. TBH most of the time I didn't even notized the news (well maybe thats because I was the richest person ever in this game) It would be pretty cool if there are more attributes on the cabbage and there would be news like "vitamin K considered harmful, but vitamin L is cool". I just noticed you did something similar (saw the oktoberfest event) but I think this should be much more prominent and better communicated (like showing with attributes are currently popular in the UI). It would be super cool if you have to keep different lines of you cultures to react to a changing market situation.
But still, great entry!
Thanks for your great feedback everyone! Balance is definitely our top area for improvement.
Really great game, looks quite nice (especially those cute cabbages), and the overall gameplay idea is quite fun. You get fast into trying to get great cabbages. Great job !
Really addictive but perhaps a bit too easy (or maybe I'm just a natural born cabbage farmer) 😄
Yeah, that's really a fun little game! Well done!
Like everyone else, I got into it a lot! I farmed cabbage for longer than I'd like to admit. But still not as long as the guy with the 38,000lbs cabbage lol.
How do you splice cabbages? Sorry, i haven't been able to figure that part out yet on my own. I like the game so far though!
UPDATE: nevermind i just figured it out, sorry I'm a little slow haha
Very fun game but still need a bit polish with a little tutorial and some revision on hitboxes, why not add a little indicator to show you are hovering and clickable? But i still loved the mood,, keep up the good work!
What a great entry! A few minor issues like selection/hitboxes, but for a jam this game has a lot of depth. It gave me nostalgia vibes for flash games in their prime, I think with some polish this game could definitely fill that niche! I got everything unlocked in about 25-30 days and was getting $80 per cabbage at the end, not bad :joy:
Also cabbage game devs unite \o/
The game is very fun and addicting once you figure it out but the lack of instructions and poor interface made it very frustrating at first.
To anyone who can't figure out splicing, you have to click 2 cabbages at a time, and then a purple splice button appears between the red and blue info boxes that appear on the left.
The main issue with the game is the total lack of difficulty which, while relaxing does kind of break the theme of the inevitable bankruptcy. Experimenting with different cabbages was very fun and the occasional headlines really added to the experience and immersion. I felt like there was this whole world beyond my little farm and that I was competing for world cabbage domination.
The technical issues are kind of hard to ignore, after a few cycles I did not look forward to having to click on the cabbage patches with pixel perfect accuracy and then running the risk of accidentally selling the wrong cabbage because I forgot what order I clicked them in.
Add a highlight that shows which cabbages are selected, fix the click detection issues, polish up the graphics, and tweak the difficult curve and you've got a solid game on your hands
I was worried that :spy: Big Cabbage :spy: was going to hide our game from the Ludum Game Search - but glad you all found it and were able to try out our game :D
Thanks for all the good/constructive feedback so far! Appreciate it!
Very addictive game, really enjoyed trying to get the best cabbage ever (spent way more time playing than I thought I would lol). I found the graphics very charming too ! Great job
Despite inspecting my cabbages being a bit cumbersome with no feedback on which ones you're inspecting, I spent waay to much time on it getting all the plots and cultivating a nice and colorfull cabbage patch! :D
Really fun, wasn't sure what to do right in the beginning, lost thrice  but found out after that and was quite hooked  Great job!
This was very addicting in a good way, played more than I care to admit! Unfortunately my cabbages all eventually crashed to $0 I believe because of the "legislation regulating cabbage markets" event, but overall I really enjoyed this one, awesome work!
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. It makes us really happy to see people enjoying it! We just pushed a minor update to v1.1 that will hopefully once and for all keep cabbages from going to $0 (or at least make it super rare).
It's hard to start playing, but it's worth it. Something wrong with web version:sfsdag.png
@weewsa sorry about that. Sometimes the way that the game gets embedded on itch.io looks funky. I'll try to look into that tonight - but a temporary fix is to play in fullscreen mode. That should make things scale correctly.
Really creative concept, its a bit hard to get into at the start, but once you get it going its quite entertaining.
nice idea and concept.. it took some time to figure out the UI and what is clickable.. upkeep is crazy
A great game overall, you really nailed the atmosphere (graphics and audio) and it was quite addictive once you get into it ... But damn was it hard to get into it ! The game would benifit A LOT from simples tooltips and instructions explaining how the UI works as it's far form ergonomic in its current state :/ .
Anyway, congratz on the submission !
Looking good! Clever concept.
Nice audio (except for the sell sound, that annoyed me :P), and I really liked the cabbage models! It was fun to try to cultivate larger cabbages. The UI needs some work, it took me way to long to find the sell and splice buttons, and when reading through the comments above I don't seem to be alone in this. Good job!
A small tutorial would be a great addition, otherwise it's a neat little game.
Nice entry, as a few others have said a tutorial would go a long way. Overall though pretty good concept
Interesting game about cabbages ^^ I did not understand how to fructify my business, but I grew some cabbages and sold them. The little cabbage animations was cute.
WeChat Image_20220412183614.png Grow a really big one cabbage lol (Not as huge as the one above in the comment though) Really fun game! Good job!
Clicking on the cabbages is a bit finnicky at times but I love the concept! I like the splicing aspect, but I do think it ramps up very fast.
