Awesome
This looks like a really cool concept! Let me know if you find a way to get a web or linux build and I'll give it a try.
UPDATE: @jyumonji Good news: I got the Windows build working in Linux with Wine! Hopefully you aren't going too crazy trying to get other builds to work.
This lived up to the anticipation! What a neat little rhythm game! The game does a good job of communicating to the player through the UI elements directly. The only thing that I wish was clearer was the Listen! vs Your Turn! as perhaps a red recording light or other non-text element to more clearly indicate when it was my turn. Would love to see this expanded with procedural music eventually as you said was your plan. That would make for such a cool little coffee break game.
Very interesting concept! I liked the idea, but couldn't really figure out how it worked. Also I love the artwork, but the menu screen made me dizzy. Overall unique take on it and I liked that it was a music game!
I loved the lo-fi ambient. Had a hard time understanding "How to play". IMO, SFXs have too low volume.
It's a really interesting concept and you did a great job communicating things to the player just through the UI, I agree with others and think a "how to play" section might be good to clarify but I got everything through the visuals.
@bucketh3ad Thanks for your comment! I haven't solved yet... I have just spent several hours but the unity still doesn't work in packing... But I'll publish it once I solve!
@plixel Thanks for comment! I tried to explain it but maybe the gameplay is still difficult to understand lol, and the animation should be slower and lighter. Thks for playing!
@jibberwocky Thks a lot! I'm so glad to know that someone can understand my thought through UI. =)
@draconic-rabbit Thks for comment! I forgot to normalize the audio, I'll notice it next time. Thank you!
To be honest, it was a little difficult to figure out the controls. But when I figured it out, I can't stop until I've completely finished the game! The music is quite relaxing and the idea is very interesting! I'm not sure if the theme fits very well, but overall I really liked it! Screenshot_421.png
@zimennik Thank you sooooo much for your appreciation! I tried music game for the first time and there're so much to be improved. It's so happy to see someone playing my game! lol
@bucketh3ad Thanks a lot for your appreciation and advice! I've just succeeded in packing the WebGL version. And it's so happy to see your efforts in running my game!
Very interesting game and concept. Love the visuals and audio of the game! I also found that spamming space did the job :D
@madr Thanks for playing my game!
Hey! Finally had time to ditch into the tunes!
Pros:
- I like the simple pixel art, very clear animation and design - Love the casette detail and it's low-key purpose - Nice tonnage with colors - Since it's a music-related game, music sounds exactly like you would expect for simple pixel-like art
Const:
- Oh my god don't even get me started with controls. So unintuitive. Not to mention the A and B didn't work for me - Repetitive music - Hard to understand objective. Essentially you would need someone to show you how to play it before putting you on it.
Plus: I'm not exactly sure how it fits the theme, but it would fit perfectly the `Stuck in the loop` theme
Howver, it's a very nice attempt, especially for your first time. Good job and keep up the good work!
It's really a good idea and quite extendable gameplay! Art style is clean and looking good, gameplay is innovative, the only suggestion I can give is the audio balance is not so good and instrument sound is almost covered by the background music. Well done!
@yulotomorrow Thank you and thanks for playing my game! I'll pay more attention to the audio attributes next time. =)
@mikoziq Thanks a lot for your detailed comments on my game! Actually I didn't know that there's a previous topic 'Stuck in a loop'.=D I feel so regrettable that I missed that topic! Thank you again for your valuable adviceļ¼
This is was really original and I love the aesthetic. For an audio based game, I'd pay more attention to how the sound is balanced, but other than that... Good work :)
@dan-smith Thank you for playing my game and the valuable advice! =)
Great presentation. I loved the idea of a casette tape with A and B sides. I'm impressed with the idea of the game. The concept was really original, and quite interesting once I got the hang of it.
@vidarn Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it! =)
Impressed by the concept and execution, art style is great and sound is wonderful. The controls were fairly unintuitive and hard to get the hang of. Once I figured out that A and B weren't related to the gameplay and it was just space I could start to enjoy what you have made.
@cookiezz Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad to see you playing my game. =)
Congratulations to your first game! I have spent some time to figure how to play this game, it seems that there will always be a "listen" stage but this stage is not so useful to help you win the following game. Maybe it was caused by the button timing issue or something. Anyway it's very good to make this game!
@justuspan Thank you for your comment! I set a "listen" stage because I wanted to give the player some time to prepare for the next stage. So you can't beat in this stage and maybe you need to choose the ones to beat in your turn in your heart. It's still too slow now, maybe it'll help if the music go faster. =)
Nice game. Took me a while to realise it was playing the tracks, with the background music so loud. Also took a while to figure out the controls. But has fun playing. I did not complete the second track.
@harmadillo Thks for playing! =)
Nice game, I love the pixel art. It did take me a few minutes to understand the controls, but I've got a lot fun after I got started! And...I guess the triger may be a little bit smaller than icons (especially for the yellow ones), which brought some unnecessary obstacle in level B.
@waiwaixi Thanks a lot for your playing! =D
Nice little game!
More screenshots on the ldjam website would be better.
Well done!
Polishing and pretty game for one person. Gameplay was some hard to me, but in's doesn't matter, just my finger growing out of the wrong place =)
Nice work. The art, music, and concept work really well together.
@lighty-the-light Thank you for your advice! I'll try! =)
@kremlebot Thanks a lot! lol =D
@projectaroid Thanks for appreciation!
Cool game! :D
What a great game, I love the ideas so much ...... The music is very touching and the overall retro art style is amazing. It took me a little while to figure out how to played, but I'd be happy if I could play more levels, it's a great game!
This was a nice game to play. At the beginning, I struggled to fully understand how the mechanics worked, and to see that the instrument slide, instead of getting a new set of instruments on each spacebar stroke. I never felt the time was tight, but on the B level, the instrument bar made it challenging! I felt that sometimes I lost unfairly, when I still had instruments to put on the board, but all those were already placed, so I had to waste them. Otherwise, it felt just nice. Well done!
