I love the art and storytelling! The design also was very nice, it's a simple premise that works well. In execution I had a lot of trouble very early on and kind of felt like my ship moved too slowly and my fire rate was too low to feel like I was doing anything impactful. I may have been doing something wrong though in how I was playing, because the game felt very polished. Thanks for sharing and good luck!

@nathan-wiles Yeah it is a bit slow at the start but it speeds up once you destroy a few large asteroids to get upgrades. I tried to balance it out so at the start you couldn't stop all the asteroids but by the end you felt like you were delaying the super asteroid. May need more tweaking to find the sweet spot however. Thanks for your feedback.

Art was solid, and the narrative was laid out really clearly! I even managed to eventually save enough of humanity after pilin' up the powerups.
I had trouble restarting 'cause the "Return to Home" button didn't seem to work properly.
All in all, a really great compo submission!

Appreciate how the pace picks up over time, really makes you decide between trying to keep up with the smaller asteroids or going for the bigger ones to get powerups and potentially save more people later, fits the theme really nicely. Fun and simple, as compo games should be. Good job

@byazzle Yeah, that was a last minute hack because I'd forgotten that Application.Quit() doesn't work on WebGL builds. I need to fix that when I can bare to look at Unity again. Thanks for the feedback.
@scrawny Thanks for that, you're points are all things I conciously worked on this jam so it is good to hear.

Hey, nice spin on a classic genre. I was a bit surprised that only my ship's HP is important and not the earth's? Also the firing action seemed to be a bit clunky have you considered adding some sfx to it?

Fun game! Early on I struggled before getting my first upgrades, but once I had them I could properly bounce off the asteroids.

definite mouse breaker! like the simple but effective game loop

@kleszcz Thanks, the Earth's HP is the status bar at the bottom and tracked by how many people are safe. I did have sfx for the firing but it got annoying really quickly.
@gustavo Thanks for playing, that early struggle is definitely a thing that could do with being tweaked.
@boc-dev Thanks for the feedback. You can hold the mouse down, don't need to keep clicking.
Staying on the introduction still counts people in shelters which means you can win by staying on the intro I think. As soon as the game starts there is a overwhelming amount of astroids based on the player speed and damage output. Other than that it's a neat little game. Good work.
It's really fun once you start getting many upgrades :D

Classic gameplay implemented in a nice way. Like ithers have said I missed sound when shooting my powerful blasters :) Controls felt good in my opinion. Solid entry.

I immediately found myself having fun, and the combat is really satisfying once you get a few upgrades. It's just a shame that this theme means that the game is so short! Good job!
The music shows the urgency of the game. The graphics and the explanation were very well done, I think the power ups could only be permanent because the game gets more and more difficult. The shots could also be bigger, and more detailed.
But it's an incredible game, even more done in 48 hours. Congratulations!

Nice game. As people pointed out the start is slow, but the powerups help out. I couldn't understand if I let the smaller asteroids hit earth it would end quicker or not. But overall really cool.

It gets VERY satisfying when you finally start getting those upgrades. Great submission and the theme is spot on! :)
Good storytelling and I loved the breaking-news type UI. The more you advance in the game, the better the gameplay feels, I found it a bit slow at the start ! And I was very sad I couldn't replay the game from the game over menu... or did I not find it ? Great submission anyways, thanks
The big asteroid seems to be fake news, i couldnt destroy it when i flew all the way over to it. Was fun, well done!

Nice story. To not die you can just hide on planet and shoot asteroids and there should be replay button or something i think.

Great storytelling!
It was quite simple to understand and easy to get into, kudos on that!
I really liked that you designed the game around the fact that you initially can't destroy all the asteroids, really made the powerups feel better and fit the theme well.
The breaking news thingy at the bottom was also a great addition to the game, really showing off the theme.
I was not the biggest fan of the graphics as it was all over the place and clashed a bit. Also would have liked to see the jet propulsion only activate when moving forward or move with you moving, would have given really good feedback to the player about the movement.
Overall, good job!
Ello ello! Great job on your game! Good play on the theme.
I think the game could have been a bit more fast paced -> making the player faster, faster shooting rate, faster bullets, faster asteroids etc.. Just felt slow at times, even when there were way too many asteroids for me to keep up xD
2nd thing is specifically that, it happened a few times where an asteroid hit the earth and I felt like there wasn't anything I could have done to stop it. Most of the time you want anything that punishes the player to be in their control. I might just be bad at the game though xD
But in general, good job on the game! Impressive assets considering they were all made within 48 hours :)
Neat little game!
The game feels great, it's a little slow at the beginning but the pace is very good after picking up a couple of upgrades. Great job! :v:

I really liked the art for this, I also like the Breaking News thing at the bottom, that was a nice touch. Was a bit slow and tedious to start with but once I got some perks it was much better

It's a funny coincidence but the game I made basically has the same premise but with dinosaurs. I really enjoyed playing your game and liked the counters at the bottom, Great job!
Nice game (poor Earth). At first shooting feels a little slow but after getting enough power ups it becomes satisfying, I hope the background music is longer though. Noice job.

Cool game, nice sounds, music serves as a background, I agree with the others about the slow start.

A bit messy and unpolished. The audio effects getting louder when happening at the same time is a bit annoying, and the music is very repetitive. The story and premise was actually very good though! Loved the population counters at the bottom.
