shouting "INVASION INVASION INVASION" at the top of my lungs does not get the local authorities involved, quite unfortunate.
i love the concept- it's silly and unstable which pairs with the adorable art style. i also really appreciate the easy mode added in, it's a blessing for those who want to seek out the additional content.
as for some critical feedback, i'd love if the word hitboxes were a bit more... coherent, and I feel like most of the interactions boil down to whether I get the intended phrase exactly correct or not. I feel like "Need Water" and "I Need Water" should communicate the same context... right? I would also really like to see extra interactions for actually using some of the no-no words like "I Eat Humans". That's all probably extra content work that might have been too much for the jam.
Well done on the concept, the story and the arts / sound ... It's maybe a bit repetitive but the main mechanic is a good idea ! :)
Love the graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/IO7T3gBWVBc
It's a very cute game c: The art and music are very quaint, and it's a fantastic concept! However, a few times, a word would show up that I didn't drag in, which was confusing and a little frustrating to me.
@huckleberryjen Glad you tried it out! I'll have to see if the tutorial can be more clear about that mechanic - If the timer bar runs down to zero before you make a choice, a random word gets added. I know it says it, but its not really something the tutorial actively shows off, since it has an extended timer on it.
Very cute arts and innovational concept. I appreciate that you made a easy mode. I think font size can be a little bigger, The current font size is sometimes too small to read.
cute art styles and a cool concept. Great job!
This is a really good entry. Not something I was expecting, but it was super fun! I loved the concept and how the gameplay was like, along with it fitting with the theme of unstable as well. The music was fitting for it too and even messing up made it fun still. Good idea! And very nice art :)
So cute! haha was nice looking at all the art
This one is a cute one.
What a cute game! And polished as well. It was a bit hard for me to play, but perhaps I'm bad. Sometimes the word you needed would only come by once. Other times it went by too fast and was too small to be really clickable.
Fun game) Catching words is really fun!) Very cute art)
Great idea, great music, great jokes, great drawings) It was very funny, i had a lot of laugh trying to catch right words:3
Very well done. Great mash of theme, art and backing gameplay. Characters are cute and have a character. Was pleasantly surprised by word dragging mechanics. Both how challenging it is and how well it fits into the theme. :D
This is a great game of prcedural humour. I was laughing at every phrase that I mangled. The artwork was on point as well. Would love to see more of this! Great job!
I have to agree though that the words were way too small to hit them cosistently. Maybe putting some boxes around the words would make it easier to hit them? Could also have been a resolution issue with Unity.
Edit: The phrase "I loathe SPYING" has now been accepted in our friend group's joke canon.
This is a really cute concept that I wasn't prepared for :) The art and gameplay work well for this jam, and I like how you subverted the "mental instability" theme lots of people are using by making it about a robot instead. One thing I'd change is to restrict only certain keypresses from advancing the text, as I accidentally skipped some lines :P
I'd like to begin by saying that the art style and the premise give this game a lot of charm from the outset. not only that, but this is a pretty unique take on dialogue for games in general! Something well worth patting yourself on the back for, I think. Naturally borking your phrases gets a few good laughs out of me.
