Graphics were great and I really liked the concept but it got repetitive fairly quickly. Would have been nice to have like a shop or something to spend the money on, more variety of enemies, and more variety in what you get out of chests. I was a bit surprised with the boss bat at the end but that was really just the same as the other bats but more health from what I could tell. You probably already thought about most of that though. Still a great game especially for a game jam.

I did notice some sort of tearing issue with the tiles sporadically which made me think it was raining underground at first. I was playing the web version which may be the cause.

You should also make sure to add a cover image when you get a chance. That's what shows up in the game list. Right now it's just a couple of gray bars which is the default if you don't add one.

Pretty cool game that reminded me of Stardew Valley's mining portion. The bats felt a bit fast in the sense that it's a little difficult to run away from them so you can turn around and shoot without being hit. Also, it would've been nice to have some sort of indicator of how much progress has been made (I didn't know how many levels I would have to explore and that made it feel a little slow). The mining felt nice and since the rocks break in one hit, it wasn't overly tedious.

Great start for a top down adventure game! Love the art, the title screen pixel portrait is fantastic. Some weird stuff with enemies only attacking once if they scored a hit but its a game jam so yolo! Awesome work :)

Pretty cool. This could be a great start to a fun game!

I enjoyed the graphics and the sound based feedbacks, the gameplay is a bit rudimentary as it is, adding a way to spend your hard earned money on gameplay upgrades should probably be one of the next goals

there is a lot of bugs, some more annoying than others, you can shoot bats with your bow when they are behind you, the "end of level" trap door sometimes block the path even tho they don't look as big as they really are(made me lose a key), you can't pick up bombs, and ores that drop from rocks that spawn on you needs you to get away from them and then go back in to pick them up (it happened right at the start for me, so I didn't understand what they were for until I randomly went back sometimes after)

from a game design perspective, I would probably try to make the use of the pickaxe more dynamic, it doesn't feel super great to have to completely stop to hit in my opinion, and it's not very effective against bats either :)

but overall, I enjoyed the experience, I would like to see more of it in the future in case this project is going to be worked on :)

Oooh! I made it to the end and got $17003!! I really love all the pixel art in this game. The title screen's was so good--I almost though I was about to play a dragonborn Castlevania type deal! But the "cuter" stuff in the actual levels was fabulous, too. You might consider (if you're not going to use it yourself) making an art kit/asset pack out of it! Critique/possible bug(?) things: I wasn't sure what to do about picking things up at first. I finally figured out the rhythm to let it sit for a second before I could walk into it. The contact shadows also rising off the ground is very understandable in a game jam game but still a little off-putting. I also...this might have just been an issue on my computer but I could sometimes see little lines between tiles while I was moving? It was just a flicker, not really noticeable, just thought I might mention it. Also, some music would be nice.

Seriously though. Really fun! I loved the bats and finding the rhythm of the game. Well done!

Excellent idea, but the rng was a bit forgiving in my run that took a way a lot of the challenge. Consider adding rng bypasses which force certain things to happen at a frequency, like for example, if you've gone 3 levels without bats, you MUST spawn a bat next level. Stuff like that guarantees a certain level of challenge.

I recommend adding audio to your game if it's in Jam category. Consider using the [Newgrounds Audio Portal](https://www.newgrounds.com/audio) to find cool songs to fill in that sound.

Nice game! Cute graphics and overall polish. Not being able to open all the chests or going back up with a found key was a bit strange.

The graphics looked very good and the item pickup animation was very satisfying. However, I find the game play to be a tad boring after you kill all the bats as there is no reason not to mine every rock which I don't find the most entertaining.

Good work! I liked the graphics and the general experience, It's hard when working solo to do a jam game where you have to design lots of levels/puzzles for content,so naturally it feels like it's lacking in content, to be expected I think, great work all up!

Very great game, wish there was some kind of upgrades or shop for the gold though. Hopefully one or two more type of monsters could add some diversity and difficulty, perhaps a ranged bat or something like that. The boss monster was not that hard, once you get a hit in, you can just spam it and the boss can't move ever, making it as easy as all the other monsters.

Gameplay seems a little too simple, but the visual presentation is just awesome, especially the animation.

Great game. Highlights for me are the animations and the polish of the game overall, for sure :) I got around 19000 Points in the end. I dont know if thats a bug or not, but it seems like your attack speed increases when hitting the bats. I noticed some flickering with your tilemap rendering and we had the same problem with our game (also in Unity). Disabling anti aliasing fixed this problem for us, maybe this also does the trick for you <3

Nice game! I got to $25524 and level 20. I liked the art style, and the animations were fluid (I appreciated the motion blur on the pickaxe.) I noticed some rendering trouble with the borders of the tiles. I would personally recommend making the tile geometry *slightly* bigger than the tile, so that the gaps are always filled. A lot of other 2D Unity games seem to have that problem too.

Just even opening up this game, the music and sounds are just so welcoming. Pixel art is spot on and the tracks are charmingly blended well.

The sound effects need to be lowered just a smidgen in comparison to how everything else is at a lower less jarring volume

runuchok 2021-05-12 17:14

Graphics are awesome! Gameplay has potential and I had fun striking multiple bats at once!))
