The atmosphere mixed with the sound design and music gives off the perfect ambiance, It has a very slender man and maze runner feel. I was freaked out the entire time. Good Job.

The monster design is interesting but I felt the level looked very empty and I honestly didnt know what to do. Im running around and I just get caught and go back to the start.
F*** it's very scary you made my day)
Best jump scare I have had in a long time and I kept coming back for more. Two little tweaks on the movement, I don't know if it's my mouse sensitivity, but it was really hard to control. My mouse is set pretty average, and I could only move it a tiny bit to glance without a jarring flip. Since we plan on repeating, maybe put a control bar right in one part of the text sequence. As you realize it happens over and over, you get your wits about you a little bit, and can at least control your vision. Also the floor, although beautiful, blurred too fast for walking footsteps. I found one sheet of paper stuck to the wall, but always the same one. I'll be showing this to the horror fans in my family, and keeping it was from the others. Great job on the monster. Even though you display it right away, its movement is successfully sinister to make it terrifying each and every time. I wondered if there were a way to escape an attack, or if that's something you learn through gameplay? I had a few instances where I was moving away from the noise, heard it approaching, ran away, never saw it, but still died. (Second time loading it up, and I got to heavy breathing and just realized there is a RUN control. GOING BACK IN!!!) Maybe add increasingly resigned text that also help in the solve, but only after a long time. Eventually, I just hit SPACE SPACE SPACE to get through it, not expecting anything different. Excellent project. Very well done.
At first I felt the mouse sensitivity was too high, until the creature started chasing me. It really added to the feeling of panic. While I'm not a fan of horror games just finding the first note makes me want to try again. Probably tomorrow... in the middle of the day... in a well lit room... with a blanket to hide under.
Very nicely done. I like the feel of the game. I am not usually one for this type of game, but this one was enjoyable to me. I was taken out several times. I wanted to explore further and further into the maze, but of course kept starting at the beginning again. I did at least find a clue in one of the rounds.
@fallingflatstudios Glad you enjoyed it, and yes we did designed it based off maze runner.
@jag We apologized for the initial confusion since we forget to add in the tip section when submitting. If you have time, perhaps you can give it another tries and see if you can find all the notes.
@locopelli1 @jammygunns We really appreciate the in depth feedback you provided, and it is great that you enjoyed it. We agree that movement could be smoothen out. We're happy with the way the monster move around, but there's definitely room for improvement. Nevertheless, we are really happy that you enjoyed this.
@steffy @cax We hope that it gave you a good scare, it certainly did for us when we were testing.
Good game, title mate!
*I hate this. I hate this. I hate this.*
Just take your points and leave.
*I hate this. I hate this. I hate this.*
Nice graphics and ambiance.
*I hate this. I hate this. I hate this.*
Maybe we could keep the notes when we die ?
*I hate this. I hate this. I hate this.*
Very fun and fast paced. LOVE IT
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Everything is great, loved it but couldn't find the end of the maze :D
Played this a few times. It's a nice little moody game. One thing, maybe don't put the monster in the main game page, because the fact that I already saw, what I was supposed to be afraid of kinda ruined the game for me. This monster games are usually only scary because you don't really know what the monster is. I liked the overall look of the labyrinth, I just wish it was a bit less bright, or the monster a bit more dark, because it's a bit goofy that he is so bright next to the darker walls. Unfortunately, the map was not really good for gameplay like this. There are far too many dead ends which just get you killed, and you can't do anything about that. The monster seems to find me every time, so the game always turns into a chase, so it would be nice not to have dead ends. I couldn't find the exit, even though I tried a few times to check all the side walls. Overall, well done for the time available.
Nicely done!
I would've liked to see more feedback on what (if anything) the clues actually do. Like when I see one it could say "clue 1/4" or, if you don't want to break immersion, my character could say "You ..." then "You have...." or something like that. It wasn't clear to me if I needed to get them all in the same run, if they activated any in-game sequence, or just giving me, the player, information.
A problem with this theme (and this isn't your fault at all) is I never know if there's an end condition or if I'm just supposed to get some kind of meta-message that I'm stuck in a loop and quit. I think some feedback on the clues would have clarified this for me. So, if there was an end-condition, I'm sorry but I missed it.
Man oh man did you nail the scary theme! I literally jumped a few times, even after I had seen the monster before and knew full-well what that music meant. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
The music played perfectly into the mood, as did the foggy atmosphere. Great job!
Really creepy game and atmosphere. I never really understood the enemy monster or its movements - it kinda seemed like it just appeared at random. You did a good job of engineering a scary mood.
@cakii23 Glad you enjoyed it. There's a small twist to the maze, hope you find out.
@szabe We agree that the map could use some more improvement and the game can be tested better. We will surely spend more time testing our game before submission next time. We really appreciate the insights you provided, and we hope you have a good time playing our game.
@codertrevor If you find all the clues it would trigger the endgame sequence, which is sort of the end of the game. We did realized that it's somewhat difficult to get to the endgame sequence but didn't have the time to make the appropriate changes. Nevertheless, thank you for your feedbacks and we're glad you got a few good scare from the game.
@empty-set Thanks for playing our game, and the monster does roam around the maze searching for the player so you have to actively avoid it while searching for the clues. We hope you had fun.
Your game is very scary, I think I took some scares hahaha. The experience in general is good, and generates some moments of tension and adrenaline. Good job.
Nice game!
I downloaded this game like "Oh, another horror game. Whoopee. Time for some slightly edgy music and a weird-looking monster or whatever."

After my first monster attack I was like "I want to climb the walls! I don't want to die!" Darn, that was the scariest thing I have ever played. It would be nice to be able to save the clues you've already found, because I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK IN!! and yet I want to beat the game!
Oh My God...
I almost screamed.
Good work with sound. And this... abomination. Overall - very nice and kind game. I will advise it everyone.
Today I was going through my large and crowded folder of LD47 games I downloaded, and I saw The Nightmare. 10 days after playing it for the first time I'm still too scared to go back in.
That's how you know you nailed the scariness!
