Very solid gaming, and amazing sound design! I liked the pacing of the game.
@doctorturbo Thanks a lot! Was it the linux build? It should be an isolated bug (i.e. retrying should not crash again). If you speak of the first enemy in the game, there's a lot more of the game after that! We'll look into it a bit more and hopefully find the issue, thanks again for playing!
@ToC Thank you very much for playing!
@alxertion Okay so I was able to pinpoint the bug. If I mash WASD and SPACE during some textscrolls they just stop and I'm guessing the logic at the end of them doesn't get executed. I'll replay the game later, I'm working on some small fixes on my game as well.
EDIT: Windows build by the way
@doctorturbo the bug should be fixed now (spacebar was causing some weird issues, it's temporarily disabled -- dialogs can still be skipped using the mouse).
solid 7/7, would become a pixel again
i'll be back, good bye
@adi Thanks so much for playing! I see you found the "*secret*"
Yeah now everything worked just fine. Great simple game. Love how polished the end result is for a gamejam game. Was worth the wait for the fix.
Simple but fun...
@chaosround Thanks a lot for playing!
I love the minimalistic style. It is an art style that I really like to see implemented in games seen this style makes the player focus more on the gameplay. I found it really interesting I would like to see more games utilizing this style. The gameplay is simple and fun does play but for me, the best thing was the music. The soundtrack was very good and coherent with the overall style. The sound effects were amazing and very well done. Nice job :)
@pedro-rosa thanks a lot for your feedback! We strived to make it abstract & music focused indeed  Really glad you liked the music & SFX!
Really nice game, maybe you should make a way to skip the intro and start the game.
@koge Thanks! Indeed, maybe a story/arcade mode choice would be cool to implement
The game/music/story is really well put together and it feels very polished.
Cool game! Great job!
I like this game! Simple, but very interesting gameplay. Mechanics like in diep.io, story implementation and good connection with a theme. I didn't expect to fight with boss. I want to play arcade mode to challenge me in this game again. This game is one of my favorite at this jam. I don't know is it a bug or feature, but if you move in diagonal direction you are moving faster that if you move only in vertical or horizontal orientation).
@taddl @dodelov Thanks a lot, glad you liked it!
I think an object pooling script with player bullets is slowing things down, because I upgraded Split and things went down to a steady 20FPS. Otherwise the game was beautiful and smooth as butter. I had over 750 'red boxes' before the game ended ;) Fantastic work on the music by the way, it really gave the game a special charm ^^

@nikchernyakov Initially it was a bug indeed, we decided to leave it be however as it can lead to interesting plays  Thank you for playing! @phobos001 Thank you so much! 750 is a lot, I think we never even got close to that number . Some optimizations are in order, the code isn't the greatest indeed. Nice reference in the pic too xD
Just great! Wish there was an easier way to upgrade without having to stop shooting. The buttons were kinda small. Really liked the interaction with the music.
Really Cool Game.
@blotosaur Thanks! We'll most likely increase the size of the upgrade panel, along with some optimizations in the near future. @thulium-games Thanks a lot!
I loved everything on this game. The music was exeptional!
@sarizard Thank you so much!
Loved the mood. I made it to the end, because I was curious about it.
I got annoyed just before the boss, maybe this lasted a little too long, or maybe there was not enough "feedback", I mean rewarding visual effects. I think sound effects could have been added too, even if it's hard to put sound effects that are not aggressive.
The story was great. Made me think of Nier automata, maybe it was your inspiration ? :)
Great game.
WOW that was impressive, really nice game, the best i tried so far.
**Congratulations**
@chuchuw We were thinking of adding new sound effects as you get the split shot, for example (chords, or different instruments), but we ran out of time on that one  Thanks a lot for your feedback! Indeed the game is similar storywise to Nier :)
@sergio1811 Thanks you for playing!
Man, Rar files alwyas give me a hard time. Anyhow, could you just either recommend a good rar extractor coz the current one i got from windows store is shitty slow and it's getting hung while 'un-raring'. If not, can you just compress and upload or something? Im eager to play this game!
@karanveer 7zip and WinRAR are pretty good at handling archives; regardless, I've uploaded .zip archives on the download site instead of the previous RARs (for the 1.01 version), as I hope they should work. If you need any more help, please let me know!
oh okay ill check them out
this 7z opener is so annoying!
i got the zip...commencing game in 3 2 1
So i finally was able to play it! First of all, sorry for the trouble and thanks for that. Now to the game, The game is good. The beginning, your creator leaving you amidst and you surviving and making it to the Boss..well i died there. One thing that i did feel to be honest is the player/sentient was a bit slow, even though the game picked up slowly that was fine but the movement of the player was kinda started slowing the overall progress even slower :( . Wish to see more of new "Beings" in the future...I was just wonderin gwhole time i played the game from beginning that, when will i become Venom :P Overall good work! :)
@karanveer Glad to know all was well eventually, and thanks for your time! The game is kinda slow-paced at first, a typical playthrough taking between 15 to 30 minutes. A difficulty adjustment & an arcade mode (without the story) would really be good ideas, also new *Beings* as well  Thanks again!
Loved it! very nice atmosphere with a nice little story. One thing I did have a bit of an issue with is that upgrading is a bit of a bother doing while playing.
Great game, very minimalistic, but it has everything that should be in a good top-down shooter. Amazing sound design! One thing I don't like is rainbow bullets, which can be confusing. I think they should be of one color. But it's minor. Really great game, guys.
Really fantastic game. I loved the audio and the way it interacted with the gameplay. The game itself was fun as well, and I also liked the story. Definitely one of my favorite games this Ludum Dare.
A very fun little shooter, with a surprisingly profound storyline. Without giving anything away, I loved the little twist at the end. Progress gets a *little* grindy at times, but it's very satisfying to watch your pixel grow from a tiny black box to a giant square juggernaut spraying technicolour death all over the place, especially as the music grows in intensity to match.
In terms of suggestions, first of all, in the latter stages it becomes hard to keep track of the enemies and pickups with all the bullets on the screen, but at the same time, the health system is so forgiving that I never really felt in any danger (don't think I ever dropped below 35/40 health). Even the final boss was a bit boring, since it only had one attack. A bigger variety of enemies, and more challenging enemies, would be a welcome addition.
Some extra chatter from the narrator would also help break up the mid-game; he mentions that you're "overriding his protocols" about five minutes in, and then falls totally silent until the final boss about 10 minutes later.
Overall, though, very solid entry!
@tinysalad Duly noted, thanks for playing! @alexascher Thank you! Bullet color might be a good thing to add as an option in the next version. @cincerteri Thank you so much! Glad to know you liked it. @f1krazy Thanks! Regarding difficulty, we had feedback saying it was both too hard and too easy/forgiving; a difficulty scale would work wonders on that  As for the chatter, the narrator says something when you make your first upgrade, when you level up first (increase in size) and when you upgrade the resolution once; some extra chatter would increase immersion indeed. Thank you for your feedback!
A really fun game although a bit too easy, and a bit too grindy - the gold should spawn more frequently although still pretty fun to play, and you are one of the few devs who actually included the story/ending to their game. keep up the good work mate!
@wansou Thanks a lot for the feedback! Indeed the gold & health spawn rate isn't modified at all throughout the game, while it probably should have been
