Hey! really cool graphics and mechanic. It took me very little time to get familiar with the controls, and the detail of explicitly indicating that you need to eat due to critical energy level was really useful.

Congrats on the entry!

A great looking and sounding game as usual! I'm having a hard time attacking though, not sure if it's me or the controls.

frankhjwx 2019-10-07 18:14

I love the graphics and the music in this game. The controls feels good, good job!

jiri-hysek 2019-10-07 18:27

@frank-gevaerts yeah I found attacking by X hard as well so I left it as an option for experienced birdkillers and added attacking by claws - you need only to fall on the bird from the top, which is way easier (but make less damage). With that it's all about how you are good at flappy bird ;D

I really like the graphics and atmosphere you created. The flying was also a nice responsive mechanic. I ran into some collision issues, but other than that great work!

adamdude 2019-10-07 21:03

I think what I love the most about this game is the atmosphere. Good job!

Fantastic visuals, simple yet effective. The controls seemed awkward, but I'd wager a person could master it with enough practice.

Interesting bird simulator! While the gameplay was pretty straightforward, there were a few things that made it a strange thing to play... For one, the food spawns weirdly, with worms crawling in the air at times. The beak attack was also rather tricky to use, seeing as you had to be above your opponent and divebomb them, which was hard to aim properly... Not a bad thing, per se; made combat quite interesting. Also, the image showing what prey was in my talons doesn't render at times, making me confused as to whether I had already hunted or not.

Still, it was a new experience, for sure, swooping down on birds and stealing their nests. Good job.

Awesome game! I loved the graphics and the concept in general. I did feel like it was a bit buggy when it came to grabbing food, and the attack mechanic felt awkward, but overall it was great.

shigor 2019-10-08 11:32

Really nice one - but I had some weird problems catching prey after a while. Might be, as justinoocx said, that I didn't see I already have prey in talons.

Congratulation on making a flappy bird I actually enjoyed :D

jiri-hysek 2019-10-08 12:25

@shigor @justinooncx @Nisovin thanks for the feedback! I must admit I also run into this problem when I played it yesterday... well there are always some bugs left after the compo :) Anyway I glad you enjoyed it :)

Feels like a mix of Lufthausers and Flappy Bird. My 2 cents would be to focus on either the combat or the hunt due to the jam time constrains. Deepen the design mechanic, rather than widening it. Better visual constrast between the player actor and background (ie. coloured beak/feather, gangster bandanna).

Dik za hru :)

navrcl 2019-10-10 10:38

Really nice art! It's hard to control attacks sometimes but overall very well made and fun.

deathstorm 2019-10-10 19:48

An interesting Game with a cool ArtStyle. The Controlls are a bit weird and the feedback for hitting or getting hit could be a bit more precise. Some small bugs like flying worms and rats walking through walls are also something which could be fixed during a little bitmore polishing.

But in general a very nice idea, cool game concept and a very awesome artStyle.

Well Done keep working on it.

philstrahl 2019-10-13 23:19

A little glitchy at times but apart from that I like the mechanics and, as always, the art style! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSZQiTfcXF8

bazld 2019-10-14 17:26

Fab entry - interesting mechanics and progression. I like the clean art style and realistic birds - very atmospheric.

stamestratagem 2019-10-15 19:06

"They are the same hostile beasts like you" :D

mapedorr 2019-10-20 09:44

The idea of playing as a bird is engaging but the game is poor in excecution. It would be more interesting if you would have only one nest to take care of: by looking for food and protecting it against threats.

There's a bug that make the bird got trapped beneath her birdies.

We made our game in Godot too.

jiri-hysek 2019-10-20 13:23

@mapedorr Thanks for your feedback, but having one nest feels a little goal-less to me. It would be at least a different type of game than I wanted to make. But I agree that there are too many mechanics for 2 day compo game so yeah.. there are some bugs for sure :)

kaeveris 2019-10-26 10:04

Very cool atmosphere, well done graphics! A bit hard to control attacks

commanderstitch 2019-10-27 03:04

This game was really neat. I liked it because it was different. I've never played a side scrolling capture nests as a bird game. :D Really neat stuff. :bird: The sound effects were a bit jarring at times, maybe something with the audio variences, but I wasn't sure. The style and look evokes decent mood, and the enemies swooping on you gave me a bit of anxiety. Nice!
