Nice touch putting the actual clock time on the phone there. ;)

I like the presentation of this game, with multiple "screens" to display all of the information. It's a little rough around the edges (I couldn't consistently "yoink" things by standing next to them and pressing E) but I like the idea of an art gallery heist a lot. And the different flavor text you can find from the things you steal is cool to discover.

SUPER impressive that you did all this by yourself! Awesome work!

Made it out with 51 monies! Fun game I love taking damage causes you to lose currency.

duke 2019-04-30 22:43

I played the web version and the game-screen was very small, but it was playable nontheless. Liked the background track a lot. The stealing mechanic was a little unreliable. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, even though i was standing directly on the item and the scan showed it. Being able to run diagonally would also help the gameplay flow a lot. Other than that, the game ok. I have no idea if I played it correctly or not but I got out of the level with some monies, so I guess it was alright :)

benmcnelly 2019-04-30 22:55

@duke Thanks for playing, @ano-the-ninja did an amazing job with the custom soundtrack. The finicky yoink/steal mechanic had to do with the way we used the ontriggerstay2d collider in unity, and while I wanted to fix it, I felt like it added a bit "work" to actually swipe stuff so we called it a feature ;-)

I agree, this would be way more fluid with a better 2D controller, in the post jam release we will do it up right. Congrats on making it out!

ghostgoatsgames 2019-04-30 22:59

This is very cool. I Loved that by the time I got to the safe, I already had the map memorized. So escaping from all the people made me feel like a legit smart robber, haha. Only complaint is that it was too dark to see some areas. Nice job!

greon 2019-04-30 23:00

It was fun running arround and yoinking everything. Sad that you guys couldn't do everything you wanted, but hey! you've made an game, with the concept it have now, i think that with some improvements it could become an cool game! Great work!

dexfrost89 2019-04-30 23:53

Thanks for this game! For me the web version was more stable. Made a laugh when heard the "Yoink"!

mironx 2019-04-30 23:55

There was a strange effect with passing through the wall near the upper left man. Or just getting "pings" between pressing buttons. And some times it does not react on stealing. It seems that effects appear both on web and windows versions. Also there was no sound on my machine. And the last point: it seems that web version runs on my machine much better than the windows version. The effects appeared less and overall it seemed more stable.

I just can't rate your game really objective. I had really bad feellings about it. So I'll try to rate it with avarage or a litle bit better. Sorry for these scores but I think you should to try to optimise it, if you want to develop this project further.

benmcnelly 2019-05-01 00:47

@dexfrost89 thanks! Makes me sad we didn't have time for our "Yeet!" mechanic, where you could dump your loot to run faster ;-)

taqoshaq 2019-05-01 03:37

Nice work! The tone and theme were pretty fun! I ran the WebGL version and it seemed to work okay.

A few points of feedback: 1. If you end up doing another 2D game in the future with similar player character movement, I would recommend going with a rigidbody/force-based movement system. It would smooth things out a bit and make collision detection cleaner. 2. Looks like something might have been glitching a bit with the lighting. As a tip, if you want lighting in a 2D game but the light doesn't project onto anything but the floor, try using a white gradient .png instead! Doesn't slow down your game, and you won't have to deal with Unity's funny issues when it comes to lighting.

douglima 2019-05-01 04:24

Yoink! The mood was very good. It is a bit confusing at first and I wish I could kill those baddies. Great game, Yoink!

kajetan-andrzejak 2019-05-01 10:48

Really cool concept! I found it a bit too dark though and the movement system could have been made a little better.

tamail 2019-05-01 13:58

Made it out with 94 monies! (I love it's called "monies :D) Great game, little bit too small but I liked the multiple windows.

benmcnelly 2019-05-02 00:11

@tamail @kajetan-andrzejak Thank you for playing it!

benmcnelly 2019-05-02 00:11

@douglima Yoink! Thanks for playing!

whycardboard 2019-05-02 00:45

got that 63 monies! i found the yoinking a little unresponsive sometimes, and i didn't know the stairs were stairs... other then that, the game was really fun, great work!

comatomatoes 2019-05-02 04:29

Good mood! What I found difficult to understand was the conditions under which the guards would react to your yoinks. Yoinking the upper left painting on first floor seemed to always trigger the guards but other paintings did not.

exevalon 2019-05-02 04:58

Yoinked about 130 monies! Love the little yoink audio! Game has some good humor with the sound and the comments on the phone UI. Good design decision to use the phone as part of the interface to show what the player is looking at in game. That certainly added to the game's personality. This was a cool little heist game and I thought was pretty innovative. I'd rate it between 3.5 to 4.0 overall.

benmcnelly 2019-05-02 05:18

@exevalon Thanks, and good job that's a lot of monies!

benmcnelly 2019-05-02 05:19

@comoatomatoes Thanks for playing, and yes some are alarmed and some are not, we only fleshed that out so far, but glad you gave it a try!

benmcnelly 2019-05-02 05:21

@matthew-hrehirchuk Haha, good job on all the monies, and yes we needed some signs to designate the stairs (or better 2d artwork lol) but we had a lot of fun making the logic for them so we could place them all over and tie them together easily.

kaisean-games 2019-05-02 07:34

Hm. Interesting concept. I really liked the bubble effect on camera.

The only thing that could be better done is to use separate collision box, mounted at characters legs. So that the collision between my head and other characters' feet is not considered a collision. In the current way is too hard to avoid characters...

Otherwise, nice job!

I gotta go yoink some monies! :)

carlsonandpeeters 2019-05-02 08:26

Yoinked over 300 monies! I love that its called yoinking...there was a great sense of humor to the game. The visual layout was a neat idea also. Short and to the point, but I had a good time with it. Great stuff, and thanks for tuning into the stream!

david-greene 2019-05-02 11:49

Nice game - I'm not sure I liked the bubble effect that some others did like... I don't see how it added to the ambiance at all. That said, the levels were well put together for a Jam. I had an issue with yoinking where E didn't work unless I hit it multiple times... maybe I went through the directions too fast, but can yoinking fail? Does it always require multiple yoinks? Sometimes it did it on the first try, other times more.

mrstari 2019-05-02 16:34

funny game. :hearts:

thecritterscove 2019-05-03 02:59

"You escaped with 93 monies!" A bit simplistic, but I do like the base health/money mechanic. Also the mood and audio for this game is very fitting. As other's mentioned, the game/graphics are on the small side. While the bubble effect is interesting, I'm not sure it was the most ideal use of it. Overall a fairly decent entry.

icxon 2019-05-03 04:44

Love the art titles and empty safes  AI is a bit weird, but gives a proper stealth feeling.

This is my playthrough:

Very funny game, loved the yoink! Not easy though, at least if you go in unprepared, which I did the first five times. In the last game, I prepared my heist into the slightest detail and managed to yoink 409 monies! Woohoo!
