Nice endless runner, though attacking in the air stops your momentum which makes it really difficult to avoid enemies sometimes. Also the random platforms sometimes generates a series of platforms thats not actually possible to jump to, ending the run.

Cool concept but there were a few issues I ran into (final score was around 4100) Colliding with a platform at the side was a death sentence, provided it wasn't too far away to begin with. There were many leaps of faith which after getting used to the controls I didn't mind, but leaping into a platform was frustrating. attacking while getting hit would buffer the animation, and if you attack you cannot jump, additionally getting hurt interrupts the attacking animation, so if you get swarmed by a few arrows your run is over, even if you were already trying to deal with them (stabbing and overhead swings). This led to a few deaths as well sometimes right before the shop which was really annoying. Getting the movement power up twice didn't seem to have a noticeable effect after the second time. I didn't bother with attack upgrades or extra health since enemies died in 1 hit anyway and movement seemed top priority. Overall it was ok.

Pretty good atmosphere and animations. I died right away reading the controls the first time, lol, thought it was a menu screen. Difficult for sure, sometimes the attack inputs wouldn't respond when I was getting attacked. Also, esc to exit wasn't working for me. Other than that, smooth, good work!

Cool game! Some of the physics felt a bit off, most notably how easy it is to skid off of a platform. In addition, the shop comes along a little too late in the game, and it's not quite clear how to buy anything, or what anything is. But the art is gorgious! I'm so jealous of it. I expect you to be selling plushies at this time tomorrow, or else.

nomus 2019-05-01 02:26

Thanks for the reviews ! Unity collab blocked some progress so the dialogues in the shop were not working, and broke some of the scripts hence the platforms collision problems. We wanted to add some consistency for the attacks to be more relevant. Guess we focused too little time on the testing. We'll make up for that next time !

jayometric 2019-05-01 04:13

Nice concept! As others have said, losing momentum from attacks took some getting used to. The button to buy in the shop was E. I thought I had to click. Was there a trade off to buying things? The slow motion while the shop was up kept the tension high and kept you wanting to move forward. Good work!

Nice entry! The animations look great, and I liked the behavior of the arrow enemies. It definitely felt like running out of time was a much smaller concern than falling off platforms though - it might help to decrease the amount of time the player starts with and/or make the platforming easier. I also agree with ruddiculous that there isn't enough time to read the controls at the start; maybe you could only start moving the fire wall after the player starts moving around? Overall it was a fun experience though!

taqoshaq 2019-05-01 04:17

Nice work! Two pieces of feedback that I don't think were previously mentioned yet: 1. With platformers like this that are so dependent on jump precision, I would recommend a "mario-stlye" jump that isn't a perfect parabola! If I remember correctly, it's a matter of adding upward force while the player while the jump key is still pressed and then removing it when the player is dropping. This gives the player more control over the height jump and gives a "floaty feel" that allows for easier horizontal precision. 2. Since you used unity, try building for WebGL next time! Will make it easier for other players to rate your game since all they would need to do is open a webpage hosted on itch.io or something!

nomus 2019-05-01 04:23

Thanks again for playing our game ! We will make the dialogues visible in a fix tomorrow and make the wall start a bit later so the controls can be read. We will not change the interactions for the main character to keep it fair.

sherlock527 2019-05-01 04:33

It's a fun game that can be brutal at times. The art looked good and the mechanics fit the theme. The controls were a little to get use to and it can be difficult to anticipate your landing. Sometimes I would accidentally attack right before I jump which lead to my death. I did find a minor bug where you can continue to move right even after you fall off the edge. But overall, good job.

nerzal 2019-05-01 17:57

It was kinda annoying that you stop when attacking. Made me die several times :D But nice graphics and sounds keep up the work!

tero-pulkkinen 2019-05-01 18:12

Now that was hard. In 2 minutes reserved for the game testing, I managed to die at least 30 times. Slowly you'll learn to stay inside the screen without dropping to the abyss. But still it requires repeating the gameplay over and over to learn some trick to stay alive.

nomus 2019-05-01 19:23

We are looking into a bug that cancels the death animation (only hapening outside unity testing)

jofersgames 2019-05-01 19:26

Really fun game, having to click restart gets a little tiring after a while since it requires both hands on keyboard though

Pressing r to reset or something would keep me playing a lot longer, great job though :)

nomus 2019-05-01 19:45

Thanks a lot for all your reviews ! You will be able to reset the level by pressing the 'R' key even on the game over screen in the next fix for another bug so it don't break your limbs !

johnyf 2019-05-01 23:07

Liked the game, especially the art, but the programming part struggles a bit. In a platformer the player must be able to jump and attack from any state, any time. The attack is a bit clumsy. You could try calling the Attack void with an animation trigger to time it better with the attack animation. Overall pretty nice.

minemes 2019-05-01 23:09

Cool artstyle ;D

masterkrepta 2019-05-01 23:09

I love the artstyle .

The controls felt a little off to me. I felt like was moving on ice the entire time, which makes hitting the landings while dodging attacks pretty difficult.

kmazzio 2019-05-01 23:13

Cool game, though challenging to say the least. I think there is too much sliding after you land on a platform, which makes the game extremely frustrating (especially when trying to attack multiple arrows whilst doing so). But nice animations, fitting music, and overall a very solid game

allan-urique 2019-05-01 23:16

Nice game, the controls fells a bit weird some times, because when you attack you can't jump right after, you need to wait for the animation to stop, but other than that, it's very good

nomus 2019-05-02 12:18

I spent a lot of time polishing the animations, but didn't really know for sure if it would look good or not since I wasn't using a vector software, glad you like it ! We will add a "post entry" to adjust the movement so the controls are less infuriating.

spirits 2019-05-02 13:01

Great game! My final score was 3,400

Note: I really suggest to prioritize your jump over the attack animation, because EVERY death I had was trying to jump while in the attack animation.

Overall, the game was fun - Good Job!

hpmnk 2019-05-04 03:08

Pretty nice graphics, i like the animations. I think the game is a bit too hard for me i guess x) i can go far by taking all the clocks i can see, but i'm taking like 3 hits per seconds x) For a runner like that, i guess player should have something really fast (and a big axe seems quite heavy for that pacing ^^), but it's a nice try to mix runner and combat mechanics : )

kivelocity 2019-05-05 01:30

Nice idea, I like the random generation and the style of play with this. The high resolution art fits well with the style of the sound effects. Maybe next time colours could be chosen more strategically for the art, but that is all I have to suggest. Good Job!

zoltancoccyx 2019-05-13 21:38

The art is on point, I really like it, but the physics + me having basically no coordination didn't really make it for me : I barely made it to a thousand on my best run. I also died reading the first screen the first few times while acquiring the controls, I guess starting the game at the first input would be a little more forgiving for a beginner. Also, there's a little bug : sometimes, when I die and wait a bit on the death screen the damage sound play repetitively. Anyway, it's a good one :)

dining-philosopher 2019-05-13 22:14

Phew, cool and indeed really hard! My #1 cause of death was always falling into the abyss, got a little under 3000 points in the end and did not use attack at all.

samgus 2019-05-14 00:54

Really hard but cool game with nice graphics, only a bit too difficult control.

mgsx 2019-05-16 16:21

sorry but it was clearly too difficult with keyboard and it's a little too fast, i'm falling after 20 or 30 seconds :grimacing:

graphics and music are very cool though.

korteh 2019-05-21 17:04

Cool gameplay and presentation, but controll layout are very uncomfortable for 2d game, why not just use classic arrows + Z,X,Esc control scheme?

nomus 2019-05-21 22:18

Strange decision I concede, maybe because we focused on moving with WASD so we excluded the arrows. Thanks for the info we will put more thought for the control in the next :)
