Very impressive game, great job.
Impressive what you managed to do in a weekend! The cutscene was really cute. The game was fun once we got the hang of it, it took a little while to figure out all the mechanics. I will say that the UI was really small and hard to see, which made it harder to figure out what was going on without straining your eyes. It would be easier to play if fonts and icons were overall much bigger. Great job!
This is amazing for the time limit, well done. I really liked click on planets to see the artwork of the surface. Even the planets rotating themselves were awesome. Maybe a few extra sound effects when navigating or something could be good. Something futuristic or that reflects a space ship. I agree with others, the UI had too small of a font size, so upping that would improve things. Good job otherwise!
Nicely done resource management game. Loved the writing and the art. I would agree that the icons could have been a little bit bigger, but that's just a minor complaint.
feels like cartoon Mass Effect, like it very much! But I think these cat characters are a little scary... their eyes and face expressions make them look like dead specimen
I had a lot of fun with this one! I had fun managing the resources I get from planets and trading them in for fuel/provisions. I wish I found more opportunity to spend lives to feel more in line with the theme. I think I just didn't run into enough inhabited planets? I also agree that the icons were hard to see. Also really enjoyed the art.
Once I put the game in full screen, I could read the font, but it would've been nice to have larger font and icons for sure. I loved all the little details, like the rotating planets, and there was even a complete animated cutscene that explained everything.
Once I got a hang of the mechanics, the game was pretty easy and repetitive, but fortunately there was an ending to strive for. This reminded me of FTL, though easier and cuter.
What is the difference between fuel and gas anyway?
@carraka Hi! Sorry for a possible confusion, gas is just a type of "raw" resource, along with minerals that you can find and mine at some planets to later trade for "refined" resources such as fuel and provision (used for actions). We could've thought of a better naming scheme/way to differentiate those.
Great work on all the backgrounds for the planets!
SOOO CUTE!
This is truly awesome game! First it's about cats :) (we had a similar idea with ours) I love that you took time to add the cut scene, I'm a big fan of them and I know well that during a jam this is very time consuming. The graphics are very consistent and the character design just beautiful. The main thing I loved is that this game made me go back to my childhood and a very old game of space exploration called Frontier. I felt eager to travel around. So well crafted! And the music: perfect!
I really like that you had an opening cutscene, really helped pull me in to your game, and not something many people have time for for a game made in a weekend. The story seemed interesting and you certainly put a lot of thought into your world building.
I had a bit of trouble with the gameplay as I wasn't too sure at first whether I should have been focusing on mining for resources or constantly trying to jump to new systems, and finding the right balance was a little tricky when I kept ending up in systems with none/low resource planets.
I enjoyed the music, reminded me of the soundtrack to one of my favourite games that not many people have heard of called 'American McGee's Scrapland' so that's a huge plus, and the overall presentation of the game (art, user interface, effects) were all well put together and worked well.
Great jam entry, I hope you continue to make games and refine your skills, you have the potential to become a really great developer in time.
Reminded of the Mass Effect planet exploration, quite fun, i think the experience would improve with some sound feed back when warping and at the conclusion of fight events.
@historymaker118 Thanks for such an elaborated review and all the kind words! I really wish I had more time (don't we all haha) to polish certain aspects of the game, especially balancing, maybe introducing a proper tutorial or visual cues to guide player's attention to resources they are about to run out off and some hints on what to do next. You are entirely correct, the game takes a bit too much figuring out in the current state, especially for people who are not so familiar with the genre. Cheers!
So much love in one game :o i love the introduction, the bass-heavy music in the beginning is super awesome and the gameplay brought back memories. I'm not the best in these kind of games but i will try again, that's for sure. Super impressive!
I really liked the intro cinematic, and the art and sound is superb! Really sets the mood. The gameplay is fun, and I had a really good time playing it, until i ran out of provision and drifted into space to die lol. All in all, great game! thanks :)
Great work on art and neat concept ! Amazing job ! Congratulations !
Whhooo. Excellent work and mood. really interresting game. It reminds me of the old "Elite 2" (for which i spend half my life). Thank you very much !
Cute and fun. Congrats!
I like the art and animation in the start, cute ^^ but was not able to figure out how to win or get where the arrow was pointing after a few tries. But overall awesome game!
cute!
The intro music and scene were awesome! I thought the music was perfect for that intro. I loved the artwork, its not exactly my type of game but for what it is it looks really well made. Good job and keep up the great work!
A job of titan! Nice effort for kinematics ;)
