Nice Game! The slo-mo + muffle effect felt awesome. However, A faster fire rate would make this game feel a bit better. Overall, awesome work!

I liked the game and it would be a good mobile game but I didn't get how it related to the theme. The gameplay is fun but it doesn't relate to the theme.
* So, an asteroids game? * Why is it like that? * Wait, wtf? * Oh, now i get it!
Pretty humorous (and sadly true) story given under a disguise of a simple game with nice minimalistic graphics. Extra kudos for ads, although it could have more memes there.
One downside - sometimes it feels that gameplay itself takes a bit more time than it actually deserves, for jam entry it would be nice to get the full story a bit quicker (and a way to know that the story is finished)
Great effects!Especially after static feeling well!
@gao-ming uh, thanks! Static focus tested really well with our publisher.
Really liked the music! would love to have feedback on our music in case you guys are interested :)

The windows version doesn't work for me. It just gets stuck in task manager and nothing happens. The android version worked tho. I'll admit you bamboozled me. I looked at the screenshots and almost thought you were using LD to get a quick buck.
Really funny and cool!
@toast-toaster Windows version has no problems on my end. Are you running Windows 10? It could be an antivirus problem. You could also try checking for files in `C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\LocalLow\While False Studios\Shooty Shapes`, there might be a output_log.txt or crash dump file there if you don't have a """proper""" antivirus.
However the only bamboozling here was the look on our publisher's face when he saw your comment. He reckons that *one* quick buck would be a terrible return on investment.
It takes a while to get going as the firing feels bad without the first fire rate upgrade. After that it is pretty smooth. I'd like to be able to move with the mouse instead of WSAD.
@andrew-castillo log.png It goes on with those 2 lines until the heat death of the universe.
@toast-toaster that's definitely unusual. It seems to be a bug with Unity from what I can tell, so there's not too much I can do help unfortunately. If only we had access to the engine source code like most game engines these days, we might be able to learn what's happening...
@andrew-castillo Are you tellin me your publisher can't pull a few strings to make that happen?
@toast-toaster not even DA Games can afford a Unity source access license
The new take on asteroids didn't really hold my attention, but I seriously dug the music and the smooth gameplay. It felt like something was missing, but I'm not sure what it was — maybe a force-field, a warp key that would maybe transport everything to different locations, or maybe like a secret weapon called a neuclidian cannon that creates an area where non-Euclidean geometry is in effect? Maybe a Z-Ray gun that forces things to jump through the third dimension? That'd be really sweet!
Totally funny. Really portrays mobile games for me.
This was super clever. When I first started playing I was like, "ads in a game like this? Psh" and it felt really cool when I figured out what you were going for. Great work!
Music and effects were great. Good work - loved the developer commentary
This is fantastic! I love the more subtle way you've used the theme, and the actual gameplay is really quite solid. I legitimately enjoyed playing this a lot. Very well done. (also, you totally should have had a real "pay $5 for no ads" version, just to complete the meta.
the controls didnt work for me :[ but the music and graphics were nice
@shieldgenerator7 were you playing on desktop or Android?
@andrew-castillo I was playing on Windows. It didn't respond to mouse or keyboard at all, except for menu controls. Luckily, my laptop is touch screen so I could use that, but the controls didn't make any sense to me. I was holding down both fingers and the ship seemed to move and shoot in a random direction.
@shieldgenerator7 the touch controls were designed for android specifically and I'd have no way of testing them on Windows. I wasn't even aware the Windows version of Unity supported touch actually. Sorry the game didn't work for you, this seems to be a Unity problem most likely.
Great music and entertaining game play. The upgrades feel good every time you get them and makes you want the next. Here's my credit card, I'll take them all.
Cool game but I didn't understant the Theme
awesome - but theme-relation is confusing
very fun and funny!
Very nice game, the ads are actually very funny. The gameplay is super smooth and it's pretty adictive, it's hard to stop playing ! Great game guys, congratulations. :)
I love how you took the theme and made it about developers having to sacrifice their integrity to meet demands. For me the funniest ad was "Gamers! Rise up against your developer oppressors!" - which is really not that far-fetched of an idea. Considering how easily people come to think they're entitled to free content updates forever, without any consideration for the ones putting the work in. Maybe I'm reading too much into it though.
It took me a couple runs to get used to the aiming, but that firerate upgrade helped a lot. I found it satisfying to grind for a bit in order to then spend the money on something that made a noticable difference, and the irony of the developer commentary on that is not lost on me. Overall a rather well-realized idea.
@potku Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Making the ads were probably our favourite part of the game, most of the were just ridiculous ideas that was meant to cause a chuckle, but some of them have inspiration from real life and a bit more meaning to them.
Well executed shooter. The slow-mo effect made my jaw drop the first time I saw it.
