Very fun idea but very hard to play. The jumpscare comes pretty early and does not feel deserved. I don't know, this could need some rework to make it an actual enjoyable experience. But your idea is great and the graphics are really well done.

V spooky, but the graphics worked really well with the consistent style.

Thank you for the feedback! We tried our best to balance it in the time that we had! If we decide to carry on we will rework the difficulty curve!

An interesting take on the restuarant management genre (idk what else to call it, think games like Papa's Pizzeria or Penguin Diner) and it had a good idea. It was a bit rough in execution however.
I found that the mouse moved way too much which made controlling the game a bit too difficult for my tastes.
It's also extremely difficult to tell what exactly a customer is asking for. I can't tell if this was done on purpose or not however it's a severe design flaw in my opinion that makes the game unenjoyable.
The graphics and audio are on point however and set up the mood well. Work a bit on the execution of the idea and you'd have gold.

Spooktastic! Talk about nightmare customers, literally! Really fun game. I was a dope the first round and got wrecked by my first customer, so every other round I was frantically trying to keep them happy lest I get face-jacked.
Love the recipe/cooking mechanics, took me a minute to figure out the eggs, but that handy blackboard had me covered.
Love the concept, execution, ambiance and spooks, great entry!
spooky.. This was a great combination of atmosphere and a fun restaurant mechanic! Definitely needs some more polish but I love the idea. Cheers.

I don't think the customers appreciated how much pressure I was under with the spooks and all but I gave it my best. 4 stars.
Loved it!

art style was great. also liked how the guests start shaking nervously.. and you really spooked me :D (which is easy though because I get scared easily). good job!
I never thought I would play a scary cooking game but that little jump scare after I failed to make an order really surprised me! Really interesting combination of influences here and it works well!
Couldn't figure out how to actually give the food to the customer, maybe I was preparing it wrong? But I had it all assembled on the right side and there was no option to give it to them.
Nice game, always good to see terror games on Ludum Dare, some jump scares got me pretty bad hahaha
Loved the concept and style, with some polish this game would be totally enjoyable, good luck mate.

Thank you all for the feedback! Really enjoying our first Ludum Dare! And to give customers food, you press the bell next to the plate!
what the actuall... :D i was scared as hell! :D that was unexpected entry :D
Omg I almost shat myself xD. That waiting for the patties to finish up combined with the anticipation of getting killed at any moment is the best combo. Geez well done guys xD

Interesting game, cool concept. I got stuck on the second level when the customers started asking for meat pattys served on the frypan? Couldn't figure out how to serve it to them. Anyway a nicely polished game, and quite challenging too for such a simple concept. Great execution, good job!

Thanks again for the feedback!Apologies on our part, we need to make the pancake more clear! As it just looks like a meat patty! You use the eggs for that one, and it makes a pancake!

@doswosh ahhh I see, and I see you have it in the description at the top. My mistake! But yeah it might be a good idea to make it a bit more obvious. The game is still great though :)

Great game. And graphic and sound is great too. I'm really under pressure when cooking P:. I didn't figure out how to judge when a inspector comes, they are too fast. Suggest add ingredient list in how to play since I tried several times to figure out what for what.

I streamed this last night and OH MAN! I don't play jump scare games but this game gave me chills every time I got jumped. It was really a great mechanic. I wasn't super successful at keeping the minions happy so I got scared a lot! Fantastic work!
Wow. YThe atmosphere is hopeless! Liked it. :D
NOTE: It is even more hopeless if you don't read the tutorial after starts playing. Cuz you don't know what u've to do. HAHA.
Good job! :D

Shit, didn't expect this to be scary. I never play horror games, so the jump scare got me good! Really loved the atmosphere, felt like a Mac Donald's employee's nightmare. Found it a bit hard to actually perform well, and some of the customers' requests felt hard to understand.
It took a few tries to understand exactly what i was doing, but once I got the hang of it, was fun trying to keep up with everything. The jump scares definitely caught me by surprise a few times. A couple of points of feedback 1. Using the mouse seemed a bit difficult at first. I had to turn the sensitivity setting all the way down, or else the camera movement seemed to be to much to click what I wanted 2. A few times, i would click the coffee mug to select it, and would see the check mark, but when i stood up to put it in the coffee maker, it had deselected it. Could of been from me trying to go to fast, but something to consider would be having the item you selected show at the bottom of the screen maybe, like your character was holding it 3. I kept getting the top and bottom bun confused for the burgers. It was difficult to tell at first which was the one to use.
Regardless, great game you have here. Look forward to seeing if you continue developing it and doing more with it.

Thank you all for the feedback!@manbeardgames Thanks you for the idea, i will definitely implement them to the new version! I have a new method in mind for the camera with the mouse as i'm not proud of the current one! So that should improve the overall feeling of that! - Thank you for the feedback!

Looks good, and one I might come back to later!
I got a little frustrated trying to get the orders right as it wasn't always clear what the customer wanted. It made it quite hard to progress in the game, which was a shame because it looks like a great idea. My other niggle is that I don't see how it really covers the theme of the jam, but maybe I didn't progress far enough!
Good graphics, nice atmosphere. Dare I say it, good jumpscare! Solid job.
Unfortunately, I could not play due to the .rar, it would be nice to have a .zip as well.

Okay, I didn't totally make it through this game, but I'm gonna leave the Overtime Shift for later so I have something to look forward to! This game was purely awesome: unique idea, fit the theme in an outside-the-box way, and the game overall felt complete.
Edit: I don't want to say much about the artistic stuff (graphics/audio) because, for an LD Jam game, you nailed this stuff and hit it out of the park in regards to overall mood and execution of your concept. 5/5
That being said, I think this game could go on to be monetarily successful with a few tweaks to gameplay:
- The girl who comes in at shift 3 is tough enough to deal with timing her leaving while also listening for the inspector, without her also stealing your currently plated food, so with this clearing your plate mechanic, the game becomes too RNG-based. While this does add difficulty, it feels unfair and will leave most players with a bad taste in their mouth, feeling cheated.
- What the phone actually does, besides adding an extra task to take care of, isn't communicated very effectively, and I'm led to believe that one could completely ignore it with not much difference made to the player's experience
- A minor issue I had was with the audio of the coffee maker. It would've been nice to hear that awesome brewing sound you hear (when you hold it and look away), while you're looking at it, rather than this awful buzzing loop you hear; it often clashes with the phone audio.
- The menu instructions have a lot of spelling/grammatical errors, which, along with these other areas of improvement, are understandable due to the time constraints and pressure of Ludum Dare.
I can understand how these things can come about when you're working hard against the clock, and last-minute playtesting was pretty evident here.
I truly hope you continue to work at this because the game has an incredible mood and a great amount of tension that even left me with chills down my spine when I first picked it up! The idea is absolutely genius that one could be scared/startled while ***COOKING*** & I love that haha <3 I adore the concept 110% and think it's one of the more freshly innovative games I've come across, not just during LD40, but over this course of this entire year in the indie scene. Fantastic job! 9.5/10
