LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Save the Hats by Gruhh 2017-12-13T14:01:17Z

Fantastic. Probably one of the games that fits the theme in the most original way. It took me a while to work out why I was losing all my hats, but it made sense eventually. Super fun, great soundtrack, nice pixel art and most importantly - fun!

The only problem I had was I couldn't work out what the end of wave hats did (if anything) maybe they were just for show.

Either way, fantastic job!

P.S. Thanks for leaving feedback on our game!

EPIC Racing by MrChippy 2017-12-13T15:23:48Z

You are the devil. What an obnoxious soundtrack... wait the more you have... worse it is...!!!

I kept playing to see how bad it was going to get. The car controlled nicely and the game was challenging enough for me to see it though to the end. I do wish everything was a bit bigger, but then again it might not have been as stressful experience.

This game was horrendous, but in a good way. Great job! >:D

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-13T19:15:10Z

Superb presentation! The artwork was just fantastic and the jazzy soundtrack was really on point. I played the web version, but didn't seem to have any technical difficulties you'll be happy to hear!

My lone complaint is one that a few people have made already that the only legitimate strategy seems to be waiting for the area attack to come of cool down and then dive into the crowd.

Still, the game lasted just long enough that it didn't become tedious and idea and theme (which I thought was super cool - duelling musicians!) certainly has legs! Great submission and best of luck in the future!

P.S. Cheers for rating our game! ;)

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-05T22:47:23Z

Fantastic job. Looks amazing, nice soundtrack and addictive game play. Surprisingly zen until someone ploughs into you! ;)

I like that you have to use the mechanic to start the game - it's little deign features like that that make me really happy!

The real question is: can I get this on my phone!?

HUDdled by Pox 2017-12-13T15:08:49Z

Looks nice but pretty boring... Oh, I didn't notice I had to reload before, I mustn't have been paying attention... Oh, what's this I've unlocked, some kind of ability... (2 minutes later) AAAAAAAH TOO MUCH!

Haha, in all seriousness this is the most fun I've have playing games for the jam (and there is some stiff competition). The whole thing just feels like one big practical joke at the players expense and I love it. Managed to complete the game on the first go, but short and sweet and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

Seriously, fantastic effort 5/5!

Chuckles, the Word Juggler by SecretPocketCat 2017-12-13T14:55:51Z

Solid game!

Terrifying clown. It was fun though, a very well implemented typing game. Great job.

I do agree with some of the other comments that the difficulty could speed up a little quicker. I would have played many more times if I didn't have to go back to the start and play a couple of minutes of the easy levels to get to the challenge!

That said, it seems like you are really listening to feedback, so if you do make a post-jam version please let me know - I'm always looking for ways to procrastinate!

Manifold Complex by Thorneto 2017-12-05T22:18:11Z

Really great atmosphere compounded by a menacing soundtrack and disorienting level design. Cool graphics. By far the best game of the jam I've played so far.

The controls are a little slow, even with the upgrade, but I'm really nitpicking here - great entry!

Robot Runaway by Benjamin Bos 2017-12-13T14:43:22Z

Thanks for sharing!

The robot is super cute! Hard luck on not finishing, but I am very glad you posted this up anyway - I look forward to seeing your (hopefully) completed entry next time!

:)

Don't Kill The Zombies! by Lestat 2017-12-05T20:39:25Z

Very well implemented - especially in the time you used! It looked great and everything worked really well. I loved the simple but effective aesthetic and the static filter. Sadly more zombies didn't really mean more challenge due to the AI, but I'm sure given more time it could be crafted into something really fun!

10/10 for zombie sounds!

Late Night Chef by DosWosh 2017-12-07T19:46:13Z

Looks good, and one I might come back to later!

I got a little frustrated trying to get the orders right as it wasn't always clear what the customer wanted. It made it quite hard to progress in the game, which was a shame because it looks like a great idea. My other niggle is that I don't see how it really covers the theme of the jam, but maybe I didn't progress far enough!

Good graphics, nice atmosphere. Dare I say it, good jumpscare! Solid job.

Run Guys by arron-fowler 2017-12-13T18:03:49Z

I really enjoyed this! As with a couple of games on here, I really wish I had it on my phone 'cause it'd be great to play while waiting for the bus etc.

The game had a few nice touches. The character generator integrated with the main menu worked really nicely, and the stats at the end like longest friendship was really nice (I'll never forget you Georgia D;). The whole game had a very bizarre atmosphere from compounded by the weird comments the characters make.

It really goes to show that sweating the small details can make a huge difference. Well done!

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-07T19:23:55Z

Polished game with solid sound and visuals. My only grip is that it was difficult to tell if you'd hit someone sometimes so didn't feel quite satisfying enough when you did! It's a nice idea though and could really be built upon.

I also like how pissed off the cat looks. >:(

Dead Weight by Marc Jones 2017-12-13T18:58:27Z

@moski,

Thanks for your review! With regards to your feedback, we debated about the reverse a couple of times so it's interesting to hear your comments on this!

You now have a new twitter follower at least! ;)

Crazy Snake by mgsx 2017-12-13T17:54:44Z

Snake! The classic game for this theme, but a nice original take.

The presentation is very high quality overall. I did have to turn the music off though as the loop was a little too repetitive, but I'm really nitpicking.

Bonus points for good level design. Each level neatly introduced a new concept and the last level gives you a chance to put all your knowledge together - very nice!

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-05T22:39:27Z

Looks absolutely fantastic!

The game play itself gets old fast, but in a weird way it made me want to go to the arcade and wack some moles!

Great job!

Too Many Cracks by Pablocg 2017-12-13T14:38:03Z

The music and sound are solid and the visuals are awesome. It also the process of fixing the cracks itself is very satisfying.

That said, there isn't much of a game here, it seems to be just walking around and pressing X, which is fine for a few levels, but gets a bit stale. If there were any new things after level 10 then I apologise, but I couldn't see any reason to continue (sorry!!!).

One question though, were you meant to see the particle effects before each level to give you a clue to where the cracks were or was this a bug?

Despite my (hopefully constructive!) criticisms, it is a solid peice of work - great job!!!

Poetry Slammer by peanutboyz 2017-12-04T23:44:39Z

Fun little game!

I really liked the aesthetic of the characters and the voice acting was nice and clear. Shame there wasn't more of a challenge to the puzzle and I wasn't sure how the game fit the theme. Still, a creative and weird idea that I appreciate very much.

Very bad poetry! ;)
