That's a really interesting concept for story-telling / a game. I also like your art-style, despite being so minimalistic it absolutely has charm. The end felt a bit "too on the nose" though.

I loved your art! Each one made me long for more, to see what you could do with bringing about a whole world. My main concern with the game is the following: The main player interaction with the game, the dialogue choices, don't feel like they matter as you are reading them. This is something that I think is really hard to do, and even games like Fallout have faced criticism over it, so great job in such a short time. Can't wait to see your next game.
Nice work on the character that you made! I kind of did a facepalm at the end there, the kind of joke that I hate but love at the same time haha! Nicely done for a solo game!
Interesting way to tell a story. I like the way you did the day and night cycle. The visual style is cool and the sound is nice, it creates a good atmosphere.
Very interesting choice of graphics, but I liked it. As a story telling format, I think it was really nice. It really gave me the feeling of being in the middle of some ancient paradigm or proverb. Given the simple controls and uninteresting gameplay mechanics, I think the length is just about right as well.
I like it as a small self-contained thing, but I don't think it has much potential to be much more than that, and it may not be much of a game. I could see this being somewhat of a format for small short stories, sort of like an interactive webcomic format. It's interesting for sure.
Very interesting concept, visual art and mood! Too bad the gameplay is very minimalistic! Anyway, good job! :)
I love how whole game was basically an elaborate setup for unexpected theme drop followed by application quitting. Great comedic timing:D
Really interesting take on a walking simulator. Love the minimalism. Please keep working on this!
I liked road concept. Its very interesting i guess :)
I really enjoyed the mix of blocky 3D and impressionistic line art. However I wish there was more of a "game" to it -- multiple characters, branching choices that make a difference, forks in the road (literally or figuratively). It would help to have some replay value. That said I hope you make it into a full game or use the style as the basis for another game.
It was interesting in the sense that you're immersed into the story, but it could use some polish.
Walking in steps like that is kind of annoying, it would be best if you could just keep the Up arrow key pressed to move forward.
As others have said, the "choices" don't seem to make any difference other than some dialog changes.
Objects are "loaded" one "turn" before they come into the foreground, but they are already visible, so they just pop into existance and stay still at the background while other things move until you take the next step. I think you did that to avoid hanging on loading of objects, but maybe they should appear invisible and only become visible when they start moving.
Those things aside, good job on the night/day cicle and congratulations for participating! :)
I Played this on Livestream a bit ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwY1-PtcDqs
Not enough things going on, I understand the appeal of Walking Simulators, but walking in this was a chore, and there just wasn't enough going on to really "Get" it.
Nice little experience. The graphical style is pretty interesting with all the outlines. I really like the effects for the day/night cycle. The sound effects all work pretty well. The dialogue options are a neat concept but I feel they could've been expanded a bit. Perhaps if you had more diverse options, or the questions you had to answer were more meaningful? Regardless, I enjoyed it for what it was.
Not sure if thats a bug, but I couldnt keep walking by holding the up key, I had to tap it? And tapping it repeatedly seemed to do something to the sound.
It looks neat, I like the visuals of the outlines. Its unfortunate that the "joke" of the game is kind of ruined by knowing the theme of the jam! As soon as I saw the same guy show up again, I knew this was gonna be it, ha.
It might be a cool starting point for a bigger kind of game that sticks to the same visual idea. Maybe you encounter different people, maybe some walk with you, and the environment changes as you travel between different kinds of places, maybe generated from random images and color schemes. Thats the kind of game I imagined I was playing at the start! I mean, obviously, the point of this game here
Played the game on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/139989925 (starts at 1:26:13)
found it a little boring
I like the setting, and the premise of the game. The visuals were some parts very nice, even though the sharp contrast to the single-color road was a bit jarring. I think the story could have been developed to be a bit more engaging. Another minor functionality which I would have enjoyed a lot would be to be able to continously press arrow when walking rather than tapping-waiting-tapping... Overall, I think it shows promise, and would be nice to see where your games end up in the future. Good luck :)
The outlined graphics were interesting and well done, and made for a very nice aesthetic while keeping the focus on the road. The suspenseful drone in the background really helped highlight the mood. Nice job!
Liked the cardboard cutout-like props, felt like I was in a stage play on a very long stage ;) Nice take on theme as well. Not much going on but that was the point I believe. Transitions were nicely done too.
A really interesting concept. I loved your art style, the lines for the scenery and the character. It's nice to see people trying something outside the norm. The only part of the game that I didn't like was the ending, it was a little too abrupt and didn't really send the game off nicely. It was a nice relaxing experience though.
This is a great little engine for a visual novel! Inspiring! Can't wait to see if you go further with this! After about the third time meeting the other Traveler, I was like- duh. Perfect payoff.
Really liked the fealing in this game and the concept was cool. The graphics had its charm even if minimal.
Really love the unique art style I haven't seen anything like that before. I liked taking the peaceful walk forward and running into the NPC. I was worried it was going to drag on too long but right when I was feeling like I got the sense for the game it wrapped itself up which was nice. Great job!
Very interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P7M7EgUphM
Realllyyyyyy cool idea. The day/night cycle is surprisingly detailed and makes the repetitive walking feel interesting and strangely productive. Especially the night sky with stars. I wish you could walk freely though instead of in set chunks, but I understand why you did it that way.
