very nice game!

i have a feature request though:
if you pile up enough bodies the spikes stop killing you, this would only work on noob mode anyway since otherwise you could never pile enough bodies up.

pic related, i might just suck at walljumping but this seems impossible:

You can walljump and come back on the same wall if you hold the key in direction to the wall. Like that you can climb higher on the left wall, then reach the left wall. Anyway I know the character moves in a frustrating way, it's just that I've played so much it seems easy to me, I apologize for my shitty level design.

code_glitch 2011-12-19 11:44

Doesn't work in wine aaah!

In all seriousness, it does look amazing and I'm still going to either a) try building form source or b) find a windows machine....

More from me later....

robotic 2011-12-19 12:30

Sorry this is made with Game Maker, I guess it's only windows compatible, but I'll try to build with the latest version, it might be mac compatible, but i dunno about wine. (I really gotta learn a programmation language)

robotic 2011-12-20 12:19

You can use the mouse to teleport yourself if you find a level too hard.

mikesoylu 2011-12-21 12:16

Awesome game! One of my favorites from this comp.

iforce2d 2011-12-25 10:13

Wow, that is a really solid game. If you can do this in 48 hours and you're not earning a living from making games, you should be!!
It was too hard for me to get very far though.

stargoat 2011-12-27 11:27

I got a bunch of errors when this launched... :| running windows 7 64 bit, if that helps.

screamrawr 2011-12-29 20:16

Pretty awesome. I found the wall jumping to be a little too difficult though. Great game! Play and rate mine!

hazard 2011-12-29 20:40

The graphics and amount & complexity of the levels are amazing. One of the best and most complete entries in this competition i have seen so far (and i have played 100+ games already). What really breaks a lot of the fun for me is that the movement speed is WAY too fast for the complexity of the jumping puzzels. A 2x resolution mode would have also been nice, because everythig is very tiny on screen with larger resolutions.

benjamin-soule 2011-12-30 00:14

Wow that's a very complete entry. I spent 40 minutes playing your game, and I dont even like platformers. The game is difficult but infinites lives and spawn points balance it very well. Remind me a bit the gameplay rythm of vvvvvv. The intro is hilarious, I wish I could translate my french like you :)

pierrec 2011-12-31 11:37

I got this on Seven : ERROR in
action number 1
of Create Event
for object obj_intro:

File is not opened for reading.

This is superb, probably the best one I've played in this compo. I think it should have been called "Super Vegetable Boy". :) The graphics and puzzles are all great, and it plays very smoothly. Loved the captions on the body parts. I beat it on noob mode and it wasn't even a chore. My only complaints are small ones:
- Long walljumping is difficult in this game, because you have to hit the keys in exactly the right order. Some room for slop here would have made it a lot more pleasant. Almost all of my deaths were failed walljumps.
- One of the nice things about Super Meat Boy is that the levels are deterministic and you always respawn in the same state (i.e. with the same angle for swinging blades and same timers for lasers, etc.). That means you can practice the timing and jumps. I think you could have done the same here; the respawn points always seem to be safe from blades and lasers and stuff.
- I like the seed mechanic and its limitations, but I felt like I only used them in the obvious spots and there were always more than I needed. I would have liked some opportunities for clever seeding, or some reward for fewest seeds used, or something. You never used the mechanic of having to shoot a seed to grow through a wall early in the level, ahead of getting to a corridor that's too narrow to seed from within! I was expecting that...
- There appears to be a bug where if you shoot a seed into the ceiling at an extreme angle, it grows horizontally. Might be true for other surfaces too.
- The game is pretty tiny, though the graphics are excellent. I would have liked a 2x pixel mode!
- Should have thumping techno soundtrack!

Congrats, I think this is a contender. :)

THIS. IS. ADDICTIVE. Three difficulty levels each with their own 'clear' markers... tons of levels... the unique leaf growing mechanic... the checkpoints... the OH MY GAWD HILARITY. This is an amazing entry. CONGRATULATIONS!

wally2069 2012-01-01 18:27

The character seems to move just a bit too fast and requires some getting used too. Otherwise great job.

deepnight 2012-01-02 12:44

Very good game :) Probably too hardcore for me but everything works perfectly! Nice art too.

sirius_black9999 2012-01-03 03:09

the abdomen is insane... one checkpoint? seriously? and a few changes i'd like:
less insanely high movement speed, and the fact that seeds actually reset after dying(perhaps up to last checkpoint), because you can get yourself locked as of right now

kevinzuhn 2012-01-05 07:57

This definitely feels like a complete game. I thought the body parts thing was very motivating in getting me to finish all of the levels, though I was disappointed that each room wasn't themed or shaped like its relative part. Many of the rooms kind of blended together as I played. They could have been more distinct by focusing on specific obstacles (a room of nothing but lasers, a room of only spinning blades, etc.) Those rooms that were distinct, such as the room of spikes where you have to use seeds to collect more seeds, were the most memorable!

This game is a lot of fun and it's very satisfying to work through!

matthias_zarzecki 2012-01-05 19:17

Impressive. Most impressive indeed.

adhesion 2012-01-10 01:06

This is really fun but auuuuughhh it is begging for controller support, the twitchiness is brutal on a keyboard. And it really really needs fullscreen support.

Also is it just me or is the walljumping not very responsive?

LumdumDareisCool 2012-01-11 16:55

Salut !

robotic 2012-01-11 19:23

Jcrois que t'as parfaitement résumé mon mélange :p
