| Oct 7 14:07:18 | Night Critter | ♥ 2 | Wow this was difficult, but very fun! Here's a recording of myself playing the game to provide more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ediGEZmMLpE Cheers! | |
| Oct 7 14:31:39 | 24m 21s | Make Your Board & Climb In It | ♥ 1 | Wow, what a game! I absolutely love the idea of making the player build their own hazards, and my ONLY complaint is that the game over screen doesn't give the player a view of all their towers next to each other to screenshot and share. In lieu of a screenshot of all my towers next to each other, here's a video of me building all of them and failing to climb them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiN3-wwEMjo |
| Oct 7 14:53:02 | 21m 23s | My Keyboard is Full of Ants! | ♥ 4 | Amazing. The intermissions where you read the letters you write are the icing on the cake. I don't play too many word games, but this is absolutely one of my favorites. Here's a recording of my run. Great game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGwz1HOuWIM |
| Oct 7 15:24:16 | 31m 14s | David vs Goliath: What the government doesn't want you to know | ♥ 1 | As always, top points for humor! President Michael Jordan Edit: I meant to continue that previous sentence, but I'm pretty sure you already read my comment. Oh well. President Michael Jordan was a hilarious bit, and the classification of all people below 6 feet as "tiny creatures" is one of the the hardest I've ever laughed at someone's take on the theme. The cutscenes are great, and I love the way the story incorporates the theme. The controls are super tight, and due to my gaming skills I never took a single hit of damage. I suppose I Should've stopped showing off as a means to confirm that taking damage is possible, and perhaps I missed out on content by not dying. I recorded myself playing for maximum feedbackage! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=binrBvaixZA |
| Oct 7 15:54:50 | 30m 34s | Vox Regis | ♥ 3 | I really enjoy "My subjects are so far below me that I consider them tiny creatures" as the take on the theme. The ego of the king is a wonderful narrative device, and then combined with the nonsensical voice lines as you speak to your people "Carpe Diem!" "Ludum Dare!" makes the king appear incompetent, in all the right ways. I spent five years pitting factions against each other. By no means did I actually solve the problems, ha! Let's talk about the graphics, because woah- the city design is great. I love the subtle parallax as you move the cursor. It emphasizes the distance (metaphorically) between you and your subjects. It's a juicy detail. We were talking in the discord call about how cool it would be to have a "speech counter" at the end of the game, and after playing, it would be really neat to compare that number with other players, or try for a "minimum speeches" run. In my run, I don't think any factions made it above 20 members, but with a fewest speeches run, I could imagine it getting much more strategic, and cutting it way closer. All around, a wonderful game! Great work. |
| Oct 8 17:01:01 | 25h 06m | Pixies!! | ♥ 1 | As someone who skipped reading the important parts of the EULA, I wasn't entirely sure what this was, and that's my fault entirely. I recorded myself playing this and I'm sharing the video, though it might be infuriating to watch? I don't know. I was able to figure out what most of the settings do though! I assumed there was a puzzle element to this, trying to "unlock" cake baking and limit break. Perhaps there actually is a way to do that. I don't know. In any case, I feel like I didn't do this justice by ignoring the text and jumping right in. I'm sorry to hear that you had a rough weekend and that this wasn't what you had hoped to make. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBIEE1aCeZU |
| Oct 8 17:45:20 | 44m 19s | Tiny Checkers | ♥ 2 | One of the best games I've seen for the compo. Your games are always really creative!!! I liked it so much I had to play it a second time. There's so much variety in pieces. Honestly, the final shop before the last level should be a "super-shop" with one of every piece available. There's so many that I'm sure I still haven't seen all of them after 2 runs. I love everything about this game. Here's my recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCYCvAQ89Do |
| Oct 8 19:54:45 | 2h 09m | Gull and Ray | ♥ 2 | The art is delightful. I love the character designs, and the water shader is nice to look at. I like the note taking aspect, and I've been thinking about making a mystery game myself. I think if the game requires notes like this, you should have some sort of built in place for the player to take notes in-engine. I like how nobody tells you what to do for the stork eggs. You need to just intuitively determine that one for yourself. I assumed the game would take place under the sea, so reading "different energy in the air" made me pause. Just ignore me being dumb in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va54OshTgDM |
| Oct 10 18:58:17 | 47h 03m | Tiny Turf Tussle | ♥ 6 | Fantastic entry. I had a lot of fun "abusing" some of the upgrades. I imagine my strategy was not developer intended, ha! The art is delightful! I love the variety in towers you have. In lieu of just explaining my cheesy strategy, here's a recording of myself playing the game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7StY8RnDZs |
| Oct 10 19:45:49 | 47m 32s | Tiny Galaxies | ♥ 3 | This game is delightful, but ohh- I've got some gripes. Okay, so first of all, the difficulty. I feel like I reached a point of "unsustainability" with every run I had, where I mentally gave up due to the density of objects on screen. I started trying to track "hippos gained per hits taken" but once the screen is so flooded with objects, there's no possible way to collect *anything* without taking hits. Second, I love the upgrades. I love love love the upgrades, and the system in which you collect them. But you *need* to tell me what I just picked up every time I get one. The message that tells you what the upgrade is needs to stay on screen longer too. There's a large handful of creature types, each with their own perks, and I am not going to be able to remember all of them when I'm just starting out. If you say it just once, and never again, I'm doomed to forget it. Picking them up in the future could be beneficial, but if I don't know what I get out of it, why would I go out of my way for it? Speaking of, many of the upgrades are ill-explained. Claw Durability? What does that do? How much does each squid increase the invulnerability? If you have stats like this, you cannot keep them hidden from the player. You even have an achievement for reaching certain thresholds with these stats, but if they aren't visible to the player, how could one know if they are close to an achievement? Additionally, with the difficulty of the game, I have no idea how possible some of those achievements even are. By the way, having achievements like this is awesome. I seriously applaud this game. And a leaderboard?! wow! It's very impressive! But there's such a strong juxtaposition from the incredible achievements / leaderboard systems to the lack of information while playing the game. In my final run, which I think scored 2nd on the leaderboard, I completely ignored squids, rabbits, and crabs because I don't think those helped me at all. Perhaps they do, but with the information I was given, it felt advantageous to ignore them. And god dang it, those frogs can appear on screen and hit you within times way faster than one could react, and that just feels bad. I don't know if the solution is to zoom the screen out, or have some sort of "radar" to indicates where off screen enemies are, but there needs to be something done about enemies that can zip on screen, smack you, and then zip off screen within a moment's notice. All of this to say, I had a lot of fun, and it's the little things that make me want more from this. It's a darn near perfect jam game. I recorded myself playing the game to deliver maximum feedback. I seriously hope this video helps out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix5C0ZdzIvc |
| Oct 12 14:33:19 | 42h 47m | Veil of the Forgotten | ♥ 1 | I love the character design! The forest is also beautiful. I recorded myself playing the game, and I bring it up in the video, but there's a section with a "blind jump" where the player is required to move downwards, but the floor they need to land on is off screen. My biggest piece of feedback is to always make sure the player can see where they are trying to move the character in a platforming game. And here's the recording! Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0GQkmIlJy0 |
| Oct 12 14:46:52 | 13m 33s | Germinator | ♥ 1 | This was really enjoyable! My biggest piece of feedback is that the rocking background was a bit... sea-sick-inducing. It was a bit nauseating to have the background rocking back and forth slowly, but other than that, the game was a lot of fun. I recorded myself playing to provided extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHDgQP-rWAU |
| Oct 12 15:04:22 | 17m 30s | Pied Piper's Payback | ♥ 3 | Absolutely hilarious. In my first run I must've achieved the world record or something, because I was well beyond double the score requirement to reach the highest tier. Anyway, I recorded myself playing to deliver maximum feedback. Great game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZUW142HNFQ |
| Oct 12 15:21:57 | 17m 35s | Don't Wake me Up | ♥ 2 | The setting is really creepy, and wonderfully made! I love the PS1 style aliasing. I recorded myself playing to game, so I can provide as much feedback as possible. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ex73upO3XM |
| Oct 12 15:27:33 | 5m 36s | Mightosis | ♥ 1 | A very nice and short puzzle! I recorded myself playing if you want to watch me solve it in realtime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ayZmMHAXmI |
| Oct 12 15:43:29 | 15m 56s | ETHERNET | ♥ 1 | Wow, I love the artwork! I never really figured out exactly how the game works. I know I need to catch the bug in the web and eat the bug, but the controls were a bit odd, and I wasn't sure if I was doing it right, even when I won the levels. I recorded myself playing so you can watch my confusion. Very cool game though. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkGhfXy7tAg |
| Oct 12 16:04:20 | 20m 51s | Walk the Planck | ♥ 3 | Holy cow! Where do I even begin for this comment. The pun in the title is delightful. The artwork is cutesy, the background is the perfect amount of "detailed but not distracting" and the bounciness of the particles is just perfect. The narrator does an amazing job explaining both what's going on, while rooting for you along the way. It's so wholesome!!! I recorded myself playing to provide extra feedback. I don't know if there's anything in need of improvement though. 5 starts all across the board. This game is amazing. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phWnzjp9iHE |
| Oct 12 19:49:55 | 3h 45m | Reverse Pacman | ♥ 1 | Ha! A really funny take on the theme. I like how the dots move at the exact same speed as pacman, so you need to strategically take a different route rather than just follow him. Sometimes the pacman AI is tragically bad at avoiding the ghosts, but perhaps it's a skill issue on my behalf by not feeding pacman all the dots faster. Cool game! |
| Oct 25 19:45:04 | 311h 55m | Cheese It! | ♥ 2 | I can't believe so few people are sharing their high scores in this comment section! Time: 4:28 Cheese: 3177 oz KO: 25 Delightful game! I recorded myself playing to share as much feedback as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6VEaixhkpk |
| Oct 25 19:47:19 | 2m 15s | Tracks. | ♥ 1 | I'm glad to see you finished it in time for LD Extra! |
