Apr 19 20:37:02 The ultimate Cup Of Coffee - Summoning The Barista ♥ 1 It took me way too long to figure out that a pentagram has its own order and is not a circle! I guess I should have had coffee *before* trying this :) A nice puzzle! The one thing I kept bumping into is that I kept pressing escape to get back to the map screen, and that's not how it works...
Apr 19 21:05:05 28m 03s Help of the Cthulhu ♥ 2 As atmospheric as we've gotten used to from you! I didn't really believe you when you said I wouldn't need to restart any levels, and indeed I had to restart all of them several times :) But I got through to the end! Very well done! The Music, artstyle, and gameplay work together perfectly!
Apr 19 21:38:48 33m 43s To do magic, please dance ♥ 4 Very nice music and graphics! Thanks to the mashing technique I could get to the end! (although my fingers were getting exhausted...) Playing regularly I got four button presses in before getting hopelessly lost. Maybe that's why I don't usually play rhythm games :)
Apr 19 22:00:44 21m 56s Treant Wars ♥ 0 A very playable, good looking and good sounding game! I think I'm too tired right now to think of the right strategy so I didn't manage to defeat level 3, but I'll try to have another go tomorrow! It took me a while to understand what I needed to do, but I suspect that's also on me.
Apr 19 22:10:15 9m 31s Cutie Oh! ♥ 1 A nice game. I haven't managed to lose yet though :) (still going to try a few times!) There are a few details that could be improved, but the game looks cute, sounds good and plays well, so who cares? :)
Apr 20 00:47:16 2h 37m A Clash of Horns ♥ 2 A lot of fun! I ended up playing for an hour or so. I'll admit that after a while I did lower the music volume, but I still think music, sound and graphics are excellent! I wonder if there's a shuffling issue though, at one point I ended up getting mostly summons and weakens, with the occasional shield and stun. Based on my opponent also basically playing only those, I assume they had the same issue, and it look a *long* time to end that encounter, with me having 75 mana at the end because I didn't have anything useful to spend it on.
Apr 23 17:02:45 88h 15m Sumémon: Number Nimrods ♥ 1 An excellent concept! I went to timeless mode fairly early on because I wasn't in a frantic mood, so thanks for giving that option :) After a while I got in a situation where I could always combine down to 1 or 2 and then use that to get to anything I needed, which while a bit tedious does work. Not in timed mode though I suspect! I wonder if instead of one number repeating if you're doing an operation when you have few numbers left getting a random one instead would provide variety?
Apr 23 17:11:58 9m 13s Fire Festival ♥ 1 How did I not notice that I hadn't looked at this one yet?... As usual I didn't get very far, but it's still always fun to get the commanderstitch experience!
Apr 23 17:54:47 42m 49s Summoning the Gienie ♥ 1 I had to replay this several times to read more of the item descriptions, so well done! :) Rubbing was a bit tricky at first, but luckily I have one of those fancy dpi-adjustable mice and slowing it down made it very doable. A very nice take on the theme!
Apr 24 10:49:20 16h 54m Djinn's Call ♥ 0 This is very fun! Most of the levels need some thinking but they're definitely doable, Where I got stuck was at this one: stuck.png I can't really figure out what to do here. I *think* I understand the mechanics involved, but that's about it. Very impressive for a compo game! I'd expect two or three levels, especially given the sound and graphics work as well, so having this many levels is excellent!
Apr 24 18:15:51 7h 26m Dark World ♥ 0 I tried playing on linux, but "libsteam_api.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". I tried copying that from a random steam game but no luck (different errors, so it probably needs more than that) :(
Apr 24 18:33:10 17m 19s Tonidachi ♥ 1 I lasted two days! I suspect part of it is that I really don't have a lot of experience playing this type of game (I'm too old to have had a tamagotchi!) I think I agree with what many people have said, the art is excellent and the bits of music are nice (although there could be more), and a "skip time until you can do something" button would be nice. I fully understand that that's not there, you *want* a non-jam version to be slow real-time-ish, but for rating jam games it's not ideal :) Very nice overall though!
Apr 24 21:05:57 2h 32m If Only ♥ 1 This is an excellent game! It feels a bit like sokoban, but with some clever twists and theme adaptations. I didn't manage to solve all levels (I'm also not good at harder sokoban levels. this isn't your fault :) ) Having nine levels finished in a game jam is pretty good too! The graphics and sound work very well together and give a very suitable atmosphere, which is hard for a puzzle game. Well done!
Apr 25 16:33:23 19h 27m Arcane Anagrams ♥ 1 This is fun! I played a few games and spent an enjoyable 20 minutes or so. It's not the most complex game, but as it happens that was exactly what I was looking for :) The music and sound really do enhance the experience, and they don't get annoying! I like the look of the runes, but I'll admit that while I did get better at reading them, I still had to *really* focus to recognise the letters. I'm not sure that's ideal. I think I'd have liked using the keyboard for submit and cancel, but I can also imagine forcing mouse for that to be intentional, not sure. Overall a very solid game!
Apr 25 17:16:07 42m 44s Color Jumble ♥ 1 I always like seeing puzzle games! I think I agree with most of the suggestions people have made, but to be honest, I suspect you know about those already :) Making a game in a new engine is a challenge, and debugging stupid stuff *always* takes more time than you expect or can spare, so getting this going is in itself an achievement, and I had fun playing it, so well done! (yes, of course I was a bit disappointed when it ended. Such is the game jam experience...)
Apr 26 19:10:45 25h 54m The Acolyte's Handbook ♥ 1 A nice little game! 17 hours isn't a lot, and getting something *finished* in that time is excellent! Sound and graphics work very well together to set the mood. Of course, with more time, there could be some extra things in it, such as have something "fun" happen when you get the magic words or candle order wrong ("fun" to be defined :) ). The one tiny thing I noticed that would improve UX is that the book could "rotate", i.e. when you're at the last page and you click right it could go back to the first. I'm sure you've thought of those things already of course, and refinements not being there if you basically had one day is not surprising. Good job!
Apr 26 19:30:15 19m 30s Flower Run ♥ 1 This was a fun game to play for a bit, smiling all the way through! The "Flower!" sound every time you summon a flower is great :) I usually manage to get past 7 (unless I'm really careless) but over 10 feels hard! I think that's a good balance, I'm not sure I'd enjoy it if every run took half an hour. One slight issue for me is that it immediately makes the fan of my graphics card go crazy, I imagine fps isn't limited? (playing on linux).
May 2 14:04:07 138h 33m Cat and Box ♥ 1 I made it through, including stage 16! Very nice :) Sokoban-with-a-twist is always great. The level progression wasn't very even, I'm not sure if that was intended or not, but level difficulty went up and down a lot. Not necessarily a bad thing, it's nice to have a breather every now and then :) And getting sixteen levels done in an LD game is impressive! It took me a bit to get used to the controls, Arrows are fine, but enter for menu and z and v for "do" and "cancel" are a bit odd. No big deal though! Overall I always enjoy the pico-8 aesthetic, and you made the most of that, well done!
May 3 10:00:41 19h 56m Out of Chalk ♥ 2 Very nice! I always like puzzle games, but even then this one is special. Great use of music to set the mood. I'm not sure the "bigger room" idea really works later on, I feel the challenge shouldn't be to remember what's out of sight? It also feels like the later levels are less clear, as in on level 9 I think my circle is perfectly adequate, but the game doesn't accept it and I'm not sure why, so there's not a lot I can do to fix it. Still, it's a jam game, so that sort of thing is normal and to be expected :) Overall, great game!
