| Oct 4 19:23:44 | Cascading Clockwork | ♥ 1 | Extremely cool! Reminds me of some flash games from back in t'day :) I very much enjoyed the mostly-two-tone style with the music -- very atmospheric. The honey pots are a nice bonus challenge mechanic. Some of them were quite frustrating to get but that's part of the challenge! The fact you made this with pure CSS and HTML is absolutely bonkers incredible, very impressive! | |
| Oct 4 19:53:38 | 29m 54s | Hyperlooper | ♥ 1 | This was addictive! And a really good use of metroidvania mechanics. I liked the level design -- I found each time I was exploring it guided me to see what I needed next, but didn't quite let me reach it without a bit more practice, which was very rewarding. The new abilities were all interesting and blended together well, and when I managed to reach the end it felt hard-earned (in a good, punishing metroidvania way :) ) I also enjoyed the camera-in-camera touch for the buttons, which was very swish. I think I sequence-broke, however: I got the first three power ups then went straight to the end. I believe this is known as a "pro gamer move". My only gripes would be: - Sometimes the hint box would cover areas of the level I wanted to see clearly, so making them fade after a short time (or hide) would've been nice - I found the click mechanic a bit awkward / uncomfortable to use in general whilst also platforming -- adding a bit more of a grace / buffer zone around the targets would have been nice (i.e. I don't think the accuracy required is very fun) All in all really well made. Would love to play (and speedrun) more of this! |
| Oct 4 20:30:58 | 37m 20s | Schrodinger's Afterlife | ♥ 3 | Really nice idea! I enjoyed the switching mechanic, and being able to hold tab to switch is a really nice touch. The level design was very good -- generally I found that I was learning the mechanics naturally as the game progressed. The difficulty jump for the last level was perhaps a little steep, but it was a satisfying one to solve. I'd definitely enjoy playing more levels of this with more puzzles and mechanics! The platforming also generally felt nice and solid, and I enjoyed the music switcheroos. p.s. I went to hell :( |
| Oct 5 20:56:34 | 24h 25m | Beat Survivor | ♥ 2 | Very cool idea and polished implementation! The core mechanic was fun, and all the little details you've added (the background, small audio ear candy) really come together to make this solid. The upgrade mechanics help to give it some long-term strategy too. I found that once I got mobbed I died pretty much instantly, and sometimes I got hit when I wasn't expecting it -- I think the difficulty curve is maybe a little steep w.r.t the power ups (which don't seem to help that much after a while), but all in all this was great fun to play! I admit that constantly clicking on the beat would probably get tiresome after a while -- I'd be interested to play a version that varied up the rhythm a bit :) Great job! |
| Oct 6 20:23:54 | 23h 27m | Shattering Star | ♥ 3 | Nice idea! I like the idea of teleporting between three timelines as a puzzle mechanic. The ship had a nice spooky atmosphere. It'd be nice to extend the puzzles a bit beyond what there is so far -- most of them involve picking up a thing and putting it somewhere, obviously that's quite a bit more work 😅 Nice work! |
| Oct 6 20:39:16 | 15m 22s | Robo-soaker | ♥ 2 | Wow, I really like the graphics! Nice style, a lot of care went into it :) The game was fun and I enjoyed running from the terrifying leg monsters. I found the perspective a little weird, which made it hard to aim, but otherwise it was fun :) |
| Oct 6 20:52:22 | 13m 06s | NIMBOSTRATUS | ♥ 0 | Wow, the graphic style is _really_ cool, I love it! I really enjoyed the ambience -- the sounds, the clouds are really cool. The mechanics of the game were nice, but it felt like the difficulty ramped up a bit too much with no let-up. I enjoyed the bullet-hell-with-eyes, but it gets a bit tiring when it's literally non-stop, so adding in waves or a similar mechanic would help with that IMO 😅 Overall this was really cool and memorable, nice work! |
| Oct 6 21:05:37 | 13m 15s | Chicken Golem! | ♥ 3 | Nice mechanic! A very nice old school platform game. I enjoyed how the mechanic changes each level to keep it interesting. Bawk! |
| Oct 6 21:20:15 | 14m 38s | A day of the priest | ♥ 1 | Funny game! Poor sheep :( I liked the world you built -- it's a shame I didn't get to explore it very much, would've been nice to have a few more alters! |
| Oct 6 21:23:23 | 3m 08s | Sailing through life | ♥ 1 | Really nice simple design, good job! I enjoyed swishing the boat around :) The music was nice (is there a bit of microtonal in there?) although it got a bit repetitive after a while -- I'd suggest building a few calmer bits into the song to pad it out :) |
| Oct 6 21:33:18 | 9m 55s | 10 Steps to Elysium - Sword Practice | ♥ 1 | Nice mechanic! Really reminds me of the Logo tortoise, if you've ever seen that :) The graphics and sound were really well made too. Would like to play a game like this expanded with puzzles / challenges! |
| Oct 6 21:44:09 | 10m 51s | A Little Bit Of Everything | ♥ 1 | This was good fun! I was thinking of making something WarioWare-esque but was too afraid to, so good job on making it within the timeframe! |
| Oct 6 21:49:23 | 5m 14s | Tiny Jukebox | ♥ 1 | Wow! Really nicely polished and complete game, good work! I thought the music was really well-made in particular. |
| Oct 8 18:44:59 | 44h 55m | [WebGL/HTML5] Music Demon | ♥ 3 | I really got into playing this! I enjoyed the level design and puzzles -- took me a little while to figure out some of the double-jump tricks but was satisfying when I got them. I really liked the little in-game tutorial at the start too, a very nice touch. Having the audio change between modes was really cool too. Nice work :) |
| Oct 8 18:51:39 | 6m 40s | Time Invaders | ♥ 1 | Wow, extremely impressive! I had a nose through the code, very old-school :D The game was very solid and enjoyable, and I liked the core mechanic -- my only small suggestion would be a visual indicator of which world (of 4) you were currently on, just to make the switching feel a bit more real (it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on). Great work! |
| Oct 8 18:57:43 | 6m 04s | Long Shot | ♥ 1 | Very solid little game! Enjoyed playing this -- the style somewhat reminded me of "Action Fighter" which I used to play on the Sega Master System :) For some reason the game got a bit slower as I was playing -- both the movement and the audio slowed down, to the point where it was a bit _too_ easy to play. Not sure why -- FWIW I was running it on itch.io and I'm using Firefox. Overall great work! |
| Oct 8 19:11:46 | 14m 03s | Running Time | ♥ 2 | Wow, the CRT style is really cool! Although the graphics are ultimately simple they work really well (especially the rewind mechanic), and I enjoyed the music too. The short, snappy levels and steady introduction of mechanics were really good too. I also got stuck with the flying-upwards-forever bug on one of the later levels alas. But really nice work! |
| Oct 13 22:07:55 | 122h 56m | For Greater Good | ♥ 1 | Interesting game! The art work is very solid and professional, nice work! It was fun to try to optimise my route through the level -- it took me a few rounds to figure out what was actually going on, but once I got it I enjoyed it :) |
| Oct 14 15:30:26 | 17h 22m | Match it Fast | ♥ 3 | Oh wow! This is one of my favourite games I've played this jam. Really good idea and solidly built! My only criticism is that the music loop is a bit short and gets annoying after a while, but otherwise this was a blast. Excellent work! :) |
| Oct 21 15:44:23 | 168h 13m | Super Robo-Hockey! | ♥ 1 | Interesting idea! I enjoyed this -- I definitely found that I ended up dying to my own ball more than anything else, and it took me a while to realise that it was hurting me. I think the game would be a bit more enjoyable if the ball didn't hurt you -- at least at first, to ease the player into the game bit. I enjoyed the variety of enemies, it was nice to restart the game and get a different challenge each time! Nice work :) |
| Oct 21 15:54:15 | 9m 52s | The Many Short-Lived Adventures of a Box | ♥ 2 | Ah, I really enjoyed this! Really good level design, especially how you teased the endpoint / later stage early on to give the player an indication of the goal / directions to go in. The music was really jammin' too. My only suggestions would be: * Adding a small cooldown between resets, to give the player a second to get ready for the next round. A bit of an audio / visual countdown would help with this too. * Removing the auto-jump when holding space -- I think this sometimes ate my double-jumps, which was a bit frustrating. All in all really enjoyed this! I've also played a similar (but different) metroidvania here, which you might enjoy :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/hyperlooper Great work! |
