Apr 26 06:27:06 More Bass! ♥ 3 game feels real good to play. for the first minute i felt like a scott pilgrim character. being surrounded and then hitting the entire room with a right click feels Great. game gets pretty stale fast, but i think it's really expandable and has a great concept to back it up. i can see there being different types of enemies, dialogue sequences, boss battles, more instruments, more songs, a bigger map... the possibilities are near endless!
Apr 26 06:48:02 20m 56s Sky Miner ♥ 1 i like the details in the story that you included, like the meteors falling, the Sky Miner Inc. building. the game feels close to complete! as for the gameplay it's very straightforward and easy to get into. however it all feels a bit pointless. i think your introduction of new gems/mineables the deeper the player goes helps a bit in this aspect. i can see this game being expanded to fit shops, a storyline, enemies, etc -- anything that alludes to there being an endgame. maybe something related to the falling meteors? anyway, this was kind of a critical review, but i think you did great job!!
Apr 26 07:49:46 1h 01m Down the Dwarvern Hole ♥ 2 an incredible experience. favorite Zingers: "this thing looks like it was made in 48 hours!" "i'm not dying, i'm just... resting." some of the puzzles are actually a lot more challenging than i anticipated. or it might just be that i'm bad at puzzle games. anyway, impressive entry.
Apr 26 08:21:00 31m 14s Deep Sleep - The Sandman ♥ 1 pretty cute game :) it was very satisfying to be able to sit in the center and sing a lullaby when i got the chance to. after a while, it gets a little bit boring having to stay in the same place the whole time. i think if there were a time limit, more powerful enemies, or a sleepwalking Ron Piche, it would be pretty interesting. anyway, love the atmosphere -- great job!
Apr 26 09:02:44 41m 44s memories.io - A Living Painting ♥ 2 it took me a while to realize that the point of the game was to attach as many things to yourself as possible... i think. in the first few rounds, i didn't see the timer bar on top, so i had trouble understanding why the game was ending -- i wonder if that's a bug. love the sounds and music in this, they add so much. as well as the moody text you get on the death screen. great game!!
Apr 26 09:22:37 19m 53s Voice Warm-up ♥ 1 after a couple tries i have finally gotten a "not bad" from the audience :D the voice acting is very satisfying to listen to. short and sweet, the game reminds me of warioware on the wii.
Apr 26 09:55:35 32m 58s into the past ♥ 2 deceptively cute... so dark in a really interesting way. great take on the theme. hope the main character finds some peace <3
Apr 26 10:10:33 14m 58s Lava Runner ♥ 2 very tense. the slow lava and the slow digging makes it even more so. i think if the atmosphere were darker it would've been an at-the-edge-of-my-seat experience. i wish the number of crystals you had to collect was something like 10 instead of 30, because it took a long time to run away and collect at the same time. overall good job :)
Apr 26 10:34:58 24m 25s Deeper or deeper ♥ 1 Oh wow, this gets more and more confusing as you go. (In a good way.) Really fun take on the theme. Would make a pretty good time waster mobile game :)
Apr 26 15:35:13 5h 00m Mr Games Fall ♥ 1 hahaha i love this one so much. falling guy's got a great name too. like James Bond's hopeless cousin.
Apr 26 16:12:31 37m 18s Deeper Tales ♥ 0 the base for a potentially super fun game :) there's a cute main character and the digging combined with platforming elements works surprisingly well. sort of reminds me of shovel knight. enemies were a bit confusing because i wasn't sure if they were going to harm me at first. (also, there's a bug where you can walk off the left side of the map in the beginning) overall, the concept seems pretty ambitious but it was a nice jam game!
Apr 26 16:29:12 16m 41s Chthonic Brilliance ♥ 3 for a game jam game, it's impressively polished! although (and this is a super tiny thing) i wish you had also drawn a custom cursor as well. i think that would've completed the aesthetic. this game jam is making me realize how bad i am at puzzlers 😅 but from the levels i've been able to beat, there's a nice variety of new mechanics and challenge. great job!!
Apr 26 16:54:51 25m 39s Debt Collector ♥ 2 WOW this is super fun. my fingers are so done after just two rounds of rapid clicking though. but the leaderboards is a great feature -- how do people get in the millions??? love the music, the animated pixel art, the sound effects, the unique take on the theme. great job!!
Apr 27 02:22:10 9h 27m The Crystal Cavern ♥ 1 very nice game :) i do wish there was some music though, that would really complete it!
Apr 27 07:56:33 5h 34m Bun-ker Buster ♥ 2 i played till the end, i couldn't seem to hear any sound? i'd love to hear the music for this game. the art is cute but the game is surprisingly challenging. i don't think i can save everybody!! i think the screenshake is a bit much and i wish i had more control over the main character. the camera jumping ahead in the direction i'm digging is a nice detail though. great job!!
Apr 27 08:10:51 14m 18s Carriere ♥ 2 seconding what rose said -- it would be nice to have a way to mark bombs. design wise, i think in cases like this it can be a bit hard to tell which blocks are on the second layer and which are on the third: Screen Shot 2021-04-27 at 5.06.53 PM.png also, minesweeper makes it so that the first tile the player clicks is guaranteed to not be a bomb. there were some rounds in carriere where i hit a mine in the beginning, losing immediately. i think implementing a function like in minesweeper would improve the experience. i'd love to see this expanded into a more complete game with sound effects and such. really fun game. great job!!
Apr 27 09:01:52 51m 01s [HTML5] Bodenhorizont ♥ 3 super unique take on the theme, i love it!! after playing it i finally understand what the first line of the description means. i like that i discover more of the game the more i play. however i'm still not quite sure what the big flowers do. other than that, great job :)
Apr 27 14:33:50 5h 31m Am I only dreaming? ♥ 1 i really loved this game. like CorbenG, i also thought of Limbo, and the visual aesthetic combined with the music really sold the mood. the story was simple but effective for such a short game. there's some tuning you could do concerning the camera and physics. it's rough around the edges, but personally that actually didn't feel like it took much away from the experience -- except for when the music was too loud to hear the dialogue. i wished there was an option for subtitles or volume control. <3
Apr 27 15:11:43 37m 53s Depot Drop ♥ 2 i absolutely adore the soundtrack. that kick drum was such a good choice and brings so much mellow upbeat energy to this game. the art is very cute and atmospheric too. i died at the boss and then i got stuck at the second level because the dog wasn't getting hit :( i found the fixed shooting distance very difficult to aim with. other than that, i like how everything came together. great job :) (ps: u should include the humor category in ur ratings!)
Apr 27 15:45:15 33m 32s Watch Out Below ♥ 1 one of the most fun games i've played so far. and brutally hard. but in a good way, because i find that every time i play again i get a little further on. the screenshake is a nice touch. i'd love it if there were checkpoints or safe-zones where i could stop to take a breather. my highest score is 39!
Apr 28 01:49:48 10h 04m Ocelot Safari ♥ 1 super cool controls! there's a steeper difficulty curve to it than other controls, but the more i got used to it, the more i found myself appreciating how i could move in ways that would take several more moves to do in a more conventional top down control scheme. though, even after a couple nights i found it difficult to make much way into the forest. i wish the nights were shorter! overall, really cute snappy game!!
Apr 28 10:07:49 8h 18m SUBTERRA ♥ 1 very fun and expandable, and SUPER polished. great job! however my game keeps freezing and i don't know why. i think it happens when i try to start the engine again right after i draw a path for a miner.
Apr 28 11:43:04 1h 35m self reflection ♥ 1 love the way you turned self reflection into a game mechanic. the story and the puzzle design stands out. how many levels are there?? like FDK, i got stuck at the pools... i'd love to know if u ever upload a walkthrough!
Apr 28 13:46:25 2h 03m TESTS ♥ 1 feels like i'm back in elementary school playing the impossible quiz lol. love the concept of this weird ass confidential-but-open(?) file system. super frustrating having to redo everything again, but for some reason, i felt compelled to see it through. i think that's because it's not that difficult and there's a clear end in sight. great job :)
Apr 29 15:29:16 25h 42m Deepest Sword ♥ 0 love 'getting over it', so i thought i'd be good at this game. nope. seeing those sub 4 minute speedruns on itch had me competitive, i've done like six or seven runs of the game now, but it's so hard to break sub seven. anyway, i found that what sets it apart from 'getting over it' is how the weight of the sword plays into the physics. 'getting over it' is light and loose, but in this game as the sword got heavier, it got harder to swing around and i found myself pressing harder down on my keys in the hopes that it would somehow put more force into the sword. i think that's the sign of a great mechanic lol -- it reminds me of one of my favorite flash games, 'girp' (also made by bennett foddy lol). if i had to criticise this game, i'd say to make the dragon hole bigger -- in the beginning i thought i just had to swing the sword down to impale the dragon, which was confusing when it didn't work, and the most annoying part of speedrunning was trying to get the sword in the dang hole. but honestly, maybe that's just a feature that makes the speedrunning scene more dramatic. (also, on safari, the sword's thud sfx sounds like an annoying bass-heavy click. it was almost enough to make me quit before i thought to switch to chrome.) i wasn't planning on writing feedback for an entry already overflowing with feedback, but i had so much fun playing this game, great job guys :)
Apr 29 15:54:41 25m 25s Jackhammer Uncle ♥ 1 i....... feel like i'm in a fever dream..... which makes a lot of sense, reading your post sucks that you had to opt out of audio. i would've given it a good rating with how it completes the eerie atmosphere, along with the sound of the... blobs (?) dying and the jarring way the music cuts out when you die. IT'S JUST LIKE REAL LIFE. jk but can you tell i had a lot of fun experiencing this game anyway, i second a lot of feedback above: the controls being hard to work with (although if u honed in on this, u could make a rage game that's entirely about hard-to-master controls), the jackhammer dude being cool. additionally: i felt like u should've been able to kill the enemies with the pointy end of the drill. also, gameplay felt a bit pointless. why not give the dude a cool present at the end. like a brand new jackhammer. despite all that, nice job on the jam :)
May 17 12:17:10 428h 22m Fish for Meaning ♥ 1 this was really cute and the movement is nice. i like the meditative atmosphere that comes with the messages in bottles. i think it'd be perfect with some polishing, like more music and sound, as well as stuff like not spawning with acceleration and spawning far away from sharks. great game!
