Oct 7 23:45:15 Closing the Loop ♥ 1 I like the theme interpretation. Its simple, but could be a good educational game, especially for teaching kids how to interpret the circuit diagrams you have on the left. Would be good to have more levels, and also some opportunity to make mistakes which the player could learn from (Like putting LED in the wrong way or something). Nice one :)
Oct 8 00:00:33 15m 18s Mouse Wheel ♥ 0 Fun game, completed it (definitely didn't find it easy as one of the other comments said, it was a satisfying challenge!) I liked the graphics and concept. The puzzles were well thought out too! Sound would have been nice but i'm sure you already knew that :P And unfortunately gave me a bit of motion sickeness from all of the spinning!
Oct 8 00:24:11 23m 38s Crows of Wraeth ♥ 0 I like the art style, and liked the element system too! It added a bit of panic to the combat :P. I do think having an extra row (at least) of surrounding tiles would be useful to help the player keep their bearings, and also sometimes enemies got hidden a bit behind the scenery and I echo the aiming and control concerns of other comments - not being able to move without turning made it a little tricky to maneuver, especially with the dimetric map making arrows not align with the screen. I liked the obvious sounds of enemies approaching - it gave a good atmosphere and tension, even though they were simple (Also good use of pitch variation, simple trick to add variety but it works!) On another note, is it actually possible to kill the big guys?
Oct 15 22:22:51 189h 58m OROBOROS ♥ 0 How can we ignore javascript? I liked the humour of the story, and the game had a good mood with the scrolling text and subtle background particles. I think the puzzles could do with a bit of polish, on several of the levels I completed them without really knowing how. Nice concept though - almost the opposite of that old nokia 'snake' game - nice entry! :)
Oct 15 22:35:35 12m 44s Samsara Safari ♥ 0 Haha, level transitions were trippy! I liked the sound effects made by mouth. Also the graphics style brought back some nostalgia, I liked it. The controls felt a little jerky, but were responsive which is the most important thing. The mechanics of the different characters were different enough to keep the same levels interesting. I encountered a few minor bugs like boxes catching on things, but nothing game breaking because I was able to just move and push them again. Also I think the game might 'feel' a bit better if some of the hitboxes were adjusted, like make spike hitbox smaller. I enjoyed it and completed it - Right on!
Oct 15 22:51:10 15m 35s Transit ♥ 1 I liked the concept, and the gameplay was fun and I enjoyed it. I like the simplistic graphics and the simple charm like the particles and carriage inflating when full are great at making the game feel polished. I have a few comments for areas that I reckon might be worth focussing on if you want to take it post-jam. Please don't take these comments as me disliking it, its a great jam entry! - It does seem like there is a bug when you get to three passengers that the game loses track of where they are supposed to go and you can never drop them off. I had to restart the game a few times so if this was a feature it would be good to make it more obvious. - The map in the bottom right is very difficult to see (at least on a 1080p screen). It would be good if it (Or at least the station letters) were bigger so that you could more easily find your footing in the level. - It would be nice if the current path around the map was lit up. It feels like this was the intention but maybe there wasn't time? It would be great for feedback! - Ofc sound is always nice, but ofc we always cut it when we run out of time ;) Nice game! :)
Oct 15 23:08:30 17m 20s How to kill your grandparents ♥ 1 I think I may have developed carpal tunnel syndrome from the clicking :P Would be nice to have autofire! I liked the progression though, and the music was good. For a compo game its well put together! It seems like there is no end to this? Let me know if i'm mistaken, I got to the point where I could quickly eliminate myself from existence and it was very rewarding after the struggle at the beginning! I think a bigger map and maybe some cover, or different grampa-attacks would be great to add some variety. Nice compo entry! :D
Oct 15 23:58:51 50m 21s Olivia ♥ 2 Very nice entry for your first jam, congrats! I liked the concept, well thought through and good interpretation of the theme. It was interesting to work through the levels and come to the solution. Graphically the game was nice, and the leaves falling were a nice touch. Some more feedback or 'juice' would be good, like when hitting the walls or the reactions of buttons. Also the music is simple, but pleasing - perfect for the background and I appreciate how it changed slightly between levels. Great entry!
Oct 18 20:23:34 68h 24m Fire Exit ♥ 1 I enjoyed it, the puzzles are good and it took me several attempts to complete the second level, and the solution was satisfying. The third level looked fun but having to restart the entire game when a single person dies is waay too much in my opinion. I think it would be an acceptible post-jam fix to change that to only restart the level, and let me know if you do! If you want some feedback for individual areas that could do with some polish - The text was quite difficult to read on the help screen - Being able to pick up boxes/springs after you put them down would make it easier to recover from mistakes - The levels were quite sensitive to slightly mispositioning the springs, which was a little frustrating. I found the 'fun' came from figuring out the order and general position, not pixel perfect! I was always a fan of lemmings, so this brought back some memories! The characters were cute. And of course I liked the core concept and enjoyed the game. I'm not sure what the link to the theme was but thats a minor category imo anyway. Overall great game.
Oct 18 21:46:57 1h 23m Loopy's run ♥ 2 Nice game. I like the idea of pushing yourself closer to the edge to get more points - reminds me of the mechanic in 'superflight' and I think it works well here too. The speed of the player was just right, and fun to control. Couple of minor issues: - My mouse failed to lock to the game, so my cursor kept hitting the edge of my screen and I wasn't able to further turn the camera. - I also noticed that the frame rate got a bit jittery when the balls were adding up, think they might have to have some kind of timeout :P - High scores seemed a bit bugged, sometimes it appeared as a very large negative number on the leaderboard, think it might have been when I clicked the submit button twice. All in all though, great game and fun to play - I enjoyed it, Nice job! :) Edit: Also just saw that this was your first game and first jam, extra nice job it plays very well, congrats!
Oct 19 20:14:54 22h 27m Loop Pool ♥ 1 My high score was 60.. I think I may be as bad at circular pool as I am at regular pool :P But the game was fun, nice compo entry. Music set the mood well, game was interesting concept and challenging. You definitely had to plan out your attack and try to keep yourself out of difficult situations, which was fun - definitely noticed myself improving on my second go. Couple of minor issues I ran into were that if you started your turn touching a ball, it wouldn't register it as a tap if you hit it, so you would get a penalty for hitting nothing/yellow. Also if a ball is touching the edge and you hit it directly, it wouldn't bounce off like in real pool, so you could get yourself into an impossible-to-resolve potting of the yellow. I enjoyed it, nice entry and good work - especially for compo restrictions!
Oct 19 20:32:33 17m 39s World Without End ♥ 0 I do really like the idea, your level was well designed and the game was fast paced enough to make it work. In conjunction, the sound was good and there was a huge selection of weapons, which all felt good. The movement and camera control both felt pretty good too, although with more time I think it could have been polished some more. I can see how you ran out of time with so much content! But its a shame because adding some damage taking to the enemies and even just throwing an extra deadly one on the final level would have really pulled it together. Good job on what you made though, its definitely fun!
Oct 20 19:18:57 22h 46m Cattle Ropin' ♥ 0 Nice one, I think the time was about right because I definitely noticed myself improving by the end and managed to catch 20 cows. Also I liked the way they sped up as the game went on to keep things interesting. That little swoosh sound and flying shadow was satisfying, so nicely executed. Its a short minigame, but pulled off well and with good relevance to the theme, nicely done! :)
Oct 20 19:32:57 14m 00s Gold Mine And Infamy ♥ 1 I had a lot of fun playing this, although wasn't able to get anywhere near as high a score as some of the other comments! I thought everything was very smooth and satisfying to play, although agree some kind of autofire would be nice as it was a bit hard on the clicking finger :p But I liked the graphics, the sounds were simple but fit well and gave good feedback, and the mechanic was fun. I appreciate how complete the game is, it feels polished and well made - nice one!
Oct 21 23:46:06 28h 13m Neon Embrace ♥ 1 Nice one! I got a bit hooked and played until I unlocked every song. I like the way the different tracks appear as you get more points, it helped to ramp up the pressure and was rewarding. I do agree with the difficulty comments though, especially at the beginning, maybe the difficulty could ramp up with the song too? I managed to highscore 16, but only by rebinding the spacebar to a mouse button - would be good if that was default. Some minor issues: - Ideally click to jump (or multiple options), its more responsive and saves switching between kb+m when restarting - The scrolling through the shop was extremely slow for me. - It would be nice if there was some kind of display of your total points on the death screen, so you knew when to go to the shop. Also did the player visual change the hitbox at all? I found the UFO much easier to play than the first or third ones. But other than that, the graphics were simple but beautiful, music was great and a lot of it! And the polish you put into the animations really paid off, the level transitions looked really nice. Nice entry!
Oct 22 18:19:21 18h 33m QLOOP ♥ 2 Interesting concept, and created some nice emergent gameplay with the enemies, like directing them into each other or in front of a rock. I also enjoyed tweaking the loop, although found that the best technique was to load up on move actions with a single attack and single shield, because this allowed flexibility. I also agree with the other commenters that it would be nice if this was turn based, as im sure it would allow for some nice tactical thinking rather than always trying to react quickly. Also some animation or similar to help you visually see which way things are moving would be nice. Nice entry! Side note: If you didn't make the music during the Jam, I think you are supposed to remove the music rating option from the game.
Oct 22 18:41:18 21m 57s Rogot Slide [Prototype] ♥ 2 Wow you made a lot in the time! Both in terms of levels and in terms of the number of different 'tiles'. Also I appreciate the fully functional UI and menu system - I know they are time consuming to make! Managed to complete 3 stars on every level and it was nicely rewarding. Also despite your 'We decided to leave it as a prototype' comment, it feels like a full Jam game and quite complete, nothing major missing. The gameplay is quite simple, but agree that it could be a nice mobile game. If i had one comment, i think it would be nice to auto stop rotating when you run out of a charge, so you don't accidentally use too many. I found on the final level I accidentally went too far a couple of times. Also a full replay system for every level?!?! Impressive! Nice entry!
Oct 22 19:17:36 36m 18s Last Train Home ♥ 1 Hilarious game, well put together and surprisingly difficult! I think after a few beers I might not even be able to complete it... I think lunging everywhere seems to be the best tactic, but not sure about how my fellow passengers on this surprisingly wide tube train felt about that :P
Oct 23 23:13:08 27h 55m Electron the Electrical Engineer ♥ 1 Wow level 24 was hard, took me many tries, but very engaging - completed it! Fantastic job getting this all done in the jam! The graphics were really good looking, nice and bright and appreciated the details like clouds in the background. The animations when jumping gave the game a really polished feel too. Its a shame there's no sound but the game is packed full of content. I appreciated that there were so many levels as well, nice variety of mechanics and I thought the difficulty scaled well. Great entry! The fact that you managed this in the compo restrictions is even more impressive!
