| Oct 8 03:02:17 | Barterin' Buckaroo | ♥ 4 | I loved the hell out of the style and presentation of this game. The character designs reminded me a lot of Professor Layton games, and I enjoyed the equivalently laid-back nature of it. The trading did seem a tad like guesswork at times. I would know exactly what item I would need to give a shopkeeper to get my sheriff stuff, but I would kind of have to fumble around trading random things until I was able to obtain that key item. That certainly doesn't mean I enjoyed it thoroughly though! Awesome game. :) | |
| Oct 8 03:47:58 | 45m 41s | Solar System Clicker - Browser game | ♥ 1 | A neat idea! I think some in-game direction/feedback would make a world of difference. I wasn't quite sure how to control the game itself, but the mass of orbiting particles was certainly a neat effect. Super cool you made this with your kids. :) Must have been a fun weekend! |
| Oct 8 03:55:52 | 7m 54s | Rubber Duck Genesis | ♥ 1 | Unf, I loved the visual effects here. That intro sequence definitely set my expectations high. I wish there was more to do in the game but as a cohesive whole, this is definitely very polished. |
| Oct 8 04:17:46 | 21m 54s | Floralux | ♥ 0 | This is a cute idea and a neat art style! :) I like the concept of trying to find the water sources and replenishing your health, though I died on my first couple of attempts because I just kind of assumed that the guy who was watering me was also replenishing my health, even though that wasn't the case. The sunlight accumulation probably could have been a little faster, I found myself waiting for long periods of time, with my mouse on a water source not doing much else, but I stuck around because despite all of that, it was fun getting the plant to grow and see what it would turn into next. :) Well done! |
| Oct 8 04:35:03 | 17m 17s | Life. I guess. | ♥ 0 | > Clicks "Higher Education", watches money bar plummet Ouch, too close to home... Dig the mood and the art style of this. I was a little disappointed that the choices I made got me the same ending as just hitting "Accept None" for everything, but I'll bet the time crunch got in the way of that. ;) I really vibe with the overall message though. This was a very soothing entry. |
| Oct 8 04:41:23 | 6m 20s | SHPLAT | ♥ 1 | Love the take on this one. The art style and concept are both rock solid. I wish my character had more control while it was in the air, would have cut down on a lot of frustration. But it didn't bug me enough to enjoy the game itself. Really creative entry! |
| Oct 8 04:47:28 | 6m 05s | Soundscapes | ♥ 2 | Aaaaaaahhhhh, I love this! Really unique concept and excellent presentation with minimal assets. This was a strangely soothing experience. :) |
| Oct 8 04:55:56 | 8m 28s | A world of Black and White | ♥ 1 | Praise the EGG! This was cute. :) I enjoyed looking for all of the little scenes spread throughout the world. Wish the shooting sound effect was a little softer, but overall I had a lot of fun with this one! |
| Oct 8 05:00:48 | 4m 52s | Bricklayer! | ♥ 1 | I can't seem to move the paddle at all. :( Instructions say "Arrow Keys" but they aren't working for me...I tried mashing every other key on the keyboard to no avail... I like the idea of this one though, so I'm definitely bookmarking to come back to later. :) |
| Oct 8 05:10:44 | 9m 56s | Full Moon | ♥ 3 | Hol' up...That alien alligator thing looks familiar... *Looks up previous LD game* Oh snap, dat cinematic universe! 😮 This game was genuinely hilarious. It made me laugh out loud multiple times, particularly when I discovered the meaning behind the name of the game. Absolute perfection. |
| Oct 9 19:20:28 | 38h 09m | Zen Master | ♥ 1 | *Fist bump for also having a game about a monk meditating* I like this concept a lot. It's simple, but it's a nice little tool to help focus on breathing. :) I can't even say for how long I played, because I spaced out several times and just mindlessly hit Space to the rhythm (which is like, the ideal meditative state), so nice job capturing that feeling! |
| Oct 9 23:44:07 | 4h 23m | Dream Avatar | ♥ 1 | This is wonderfully surreal! I loved the way I slowly had to figure out the perfect traits to be a cat. It was a nice little puzzle that felt rewarding to figure out! :) I wish I could have seen a list of the "clues" I had unlocked. If such a list did exist, I wasn't able to find it. :( Still I love the personality of this one, nice job! |
| Oct 10 00:14:35 | 30m 28s | Stake | ♥ 1 | Dope Snake clone 👌 The theme on this one really got a chuckle out of me. xD |
| Oct 10 00:28:05 | 13m 30s | Not My Hoarder | ♥ 3 | That is one adorable raccoon. :) I really love the aesthetic and music of this one. The absurdity of all of the things that could arrive in the mail was really fun to unpack and discover! I did find myself sometimes stuck when two large object were next to each other, effectively preventing me from pushing them towards wanting customers. Other than that, though, I had a lot of fun trying to manage the space and discovering new things in the mail. Also thumbs up to the cutscenes 👍 The surprise at the end especially got a chuckle out of me. Nice work! |
| Oct 10 00:43:37 | 15m 32s | ground zero | ♥ 2 | Always look forward to these games, easily some of my favorite looking stuff to come out of LDs. :) I like this one quite a bit! I would actually get a little anxious whenever I would venture too far away from my tent. I wish there was a way to purposefully search for specific scrap, though. Digging through random scrap piles in hopes of finding what you're looking for is realistic and fits thematically, but it takes away any kind of strategy or player choice, which means the gameplay can't really evolve. Still, I really really liked this entry. The tone and mood were top-notch, and as always, the visuals were 👌 👌 👌 |
| Oct 12 05:17:50 | 52h 34m | SpaceShift | ♥ 0 | I really like the potential of this! :) I definitely think the game is more suited to your intentional level design, as I kind of enjoyed this as a puzzle game moreso than a 3D platformer. Figuring out how to get past obstacles by either dashing around or underneath them almost gave me a 3D Celeste kind of vibe! I do think that the dash effects were a *bit* too pronounced to the point where it made it difficult for me to judge exactly just how far I'd dash when I hit the button. But otherwise, the game looked fantastic! And the adaptive music was top notch 👌 Nice job! |
| Oct 12 05:31:51 | 14m 01s | Spooky: The one who lost everything | ♥ 4 | This is a very clever little game. :) Impressive puzzle/environment design given the limited mechanics. I also really like the cute little art style as well. As an entire experience, this is very well crafted! Some suggestions if you decide to take this further: 1. The controls seem a bit too floaty for my tastes. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except in the instances when I'm weaving in between fire statues and trying to time it just right. It's hard to keep my player character in the center of the obstacles without overshooting too much. 2. I think some of the fire statue segments require too much perfection. Like, if I didn't exit a painting at just the right time, there was no way I would make it to the next one in time. I think for a more general audience, it wouldn't hurt to put a "safe buffer" of time to allow for some mistakes or imperfect play. It would make it easier for less skilled players and even less stressful for players who are capable of hitting those narrow time windows. Other than that, I really liked this one! A lot of personality, especially for a LD game! |
| Oct 16 03:42:38 | 94h 10m | D*ck Hunt | ♥ 1 | A pretty novel concept! It took me a while to figure out that the red square moving around was actually my character. I think the randomness of the character moving takes away a lot of strategy and engagement, but I always appreciate games that experiment with control like this. I love the art and UI design of this one. Overall a very unique experience, certainly a one-of-a-kind game! :) |
| Oct 16 03:47:28 | 4m 50s | Empty Stomach, Empty Toilet | ♥ 1 | The personality of this one made me laugh! I especially like how the character move sssssooooooo slllloooooowwww until you get your first taste of food. Awesome conveyance there, even with such simple visuals! The gameplay itself is fairly straightforward and simple, but it's certainly a fun experience! |
| Oct 16 03:53:51 | 6m 23s | Who cares if it's buggy, just ship it! | ♥ 2 | A+ for the name. This is a nice little low-stakes game. Once I was able to understand that the main appeal was the visuals and writing moreso than the challenge, I was all on board! This one has a lot of personality, and I really appreciate that. :) |
| Oct 16 04:05:35 | 11m 44s | VII | ♥ 3 | Like the puzzle design in this one! The concept is pretty unique, and there are just enough curveballs in each level to make them unique and interesting. I do kind of wish the tiled movement was conveyed a little better though. On multiple occasions I felt like I was going to move to the space below some spikes, but I walked right on top of them. :( Overall though, a very solid entry! I'll actually be applying to the MEAE program at Utah this year, so it's cool to see this kind of quality stuff! 👍 |
| Oct 16 04:13:30 | 7m 55s | Meager Genesis | ♥ 1 | Presentation is top-notch here 👌 I love the way that the track slowly adds instruments the more orbs you collect. I did feel that the hitbox on my character was sslllliiiiightly too small, but that might just be a personal preference. Also, I wasn't quite sure if the bubbles served any purpose? I wasn't able to do anything to interact with them... |
| Oct 17 04:27:39 | 24h 14m | Ahoy! | ♥ 2 | Wowee this game runs buttery smooth on WebGL despite being a 3D game, nicely done! I love the slow ramp-up of this game, and the slow learning about the way all of the mechanics interact. The way hazards destroy parts of your raft and how cannonballs can be blocked by other fixtures you have set up...it all felt very natural. All in all this is a super well-polished game, nice job! |
| Oct 17 04:40:21 | 12m 42s | Dreamiverse | ♥ 1 | This was a wonderful little entry. :) Relaxing atmosphere, novel concept, and adorable art style. I'm just gonna get a liiiiiiiiiittle bit nit-picky though, because I'd love to see this fleshed out into a full concept. 1. The idea to spray paint the walls and the floor to reveal the level is really novel. However, because the spray only goes out in front of you, you find yourself looking at the floor while you're moving most of the time, which feels a little awkward and unnatural, especially in a game about looking at things. 2. The bloom is maybe a *tad* too overdone. It's especially blinding in small rooms and occasionally disoriented me as I walked around. 3. Dying/respawning was also jarring. It happened immediately with no sound, and often in a room with complete blackness, so it was especially difficult to get my bearings when it happened. Thankfully, it didn't happen *too* often. That's all I have for now! Despite focusing a lot on nitpicks, I want to emphasize that I really really enjoyed this one! I'm usually a bit harsher on games I really like, because I'd love to see them succeed in the future. :) Congrats on the awesome entry! |
| Oct 17 05:02:17 | 21m 56s | Untitled Goop Game | ♥ 1 | I like this one a lot. :) The mechanics are elegant and the presentation is simple and cute. If this game got just a little more polish, I can see it being a really cool retail release. Some of my nitpicks: 1. I saw this game as a bit more of a puzzler than an action game. As such, I was often frustrated when I knew the answer to the puzzle, but struggled to execute the solution. I think some of the situations require a bit *too* much precision from the player, which often led to a lot of unfavorable moments. 2. In my opinion the death sound effect was a *little* too harsh, especially how all of the other sounds are fairly soft and restrained. 3. I wasn't really sure how far my little goopy bits would fire when I unstuck them, it seemed to vary quite a bit, which made some sections feel a bit like trial and error. Other than those super small things though, I really really like what you have here! The presentation and complexity are impressive, especially given the short time constraints! |
