Dec 8 10:44:55 Curse of the eastern god ♥ 1 That's a well executed narrative game ! As it's been said the effort on storytelling and writting is worthy and sets a great mood. Even if gameplay is not so challenging this really pushed me to persevere the *hard* part to reach the end. I loved the humor as well in texts and in-game. Good job on chiptune music, quite diversified and sounding real good. Visuals are simple but efficients, I especially liked the different NPC and player's sprites. I've read in comments that... there is a 9999999$ key ? :) I didn't have the patience to end it twice finding secrets but I tried some while playing it and I was wondering, so that's a great thing :) Good job ! Cheers !
Dec 8 11:49:02 1h 04m Slithering Dark ♥ 0 Really cool and original concept game and oppressing feel here :) I think you somemhow reach your goal on setting a tension in the gameplay. I especially loved the way the AI reacts and displays its state, combined by the anxiogene feeling that the dark fog brings. It often ended in panic, one character being followed by the monster and getting trapped, or discovering another monster that could see NPC, making tension grow. The way monster could see you once they are discovered, or that the group won't follow you if they do not see you, is a simple and clever way to make the gameplay strong. I did not found it so hard to get through the end and was able to save 5 out of 14 characters on the second time i could end it, but I think I'll try to reach a better score later :) I loved the minimal art style and animation, letting place for imagination (hmm naked people!) and allowing to focalize on the gameplay. The saved humans count keeps the game the *arcade* style, it still has your usual original gamefeel touch in that way :) By the way, as it's been said here, the gameplay sticks to the theme naturally so this is a great and smart thing. It would probably have been real great if you had time to add some moody music along, but the absence of it sticks with the claustrophobic feel and I guess you did a good choice focalizing on gameplay rather than spending precious time on music :) I also love the cool way you have to integrate tutorials to the game. Maybe adding some text message reflecting the score at the end would push the player to try harder? Great job once again! Cheers!
Dec 9 19:58:56 32h 09m Save & sacrifice ♥ 0 Great! The gameplay mecanics and background fits to the theme nicely, and brings the quite unique occasion to kick demons and monks' asses while flying around butt-naked, wearing only an armor and helmet. That's pretty neat indeed. Visuals are great as usual, and I loved all the funny details in animations and tutorial messages. The game is short but the last level is quite hard so challenge is here and keeps you kicking butts to make it through the end :) in few words awesome as usual! Cheers!
Dec 10 00:11:35 4h 12m Sven ♥ 1 Great game design ! I loved this comic strip narration, coming along with expressive animations. The minimalist and 2 bit style makes it feel even more like a storyboard or a raw comic. The blood animation and sacrifice part feeling make my sociopath side wish I could have sacrified more NPC XD The spaceship part is quite surprising, I couldn't beat the boss, I've understood I should kill it slowly but I don't have patience and keep blastbeating fire key at some point... Good job ! Cheers!
Dec 17 18:53:31 186h 41m Cat-Astrophe ♥ 2 Great game with a great amount of content :) the main mechanic fits the theme perfectly and brings some cool and smart level design. After half an hour I had to quit without being able to beat it XD Maybe later ... very addicting and challenging. The audio is amazingly well polished, with cool acting and funny quotes with the witches. Graphics are great too, with great art and lightings. Sometimes I died so many times the start of the level was a real graveyard, forcing me to rush and die even more XD Also there is a magic cat. Great job, one of the best LD43 games I've played so far. Congrats! Cheers!
Dec 28 11:22:49 256h 29m Path to Redemption ♥ 1 Nice first person platformer experiment! it sometimes felt like Quake 3 / Defrag (but slower:). This was kinda hard yet doable, but I doubted I could make it through the end sometimes, but the crounch+jump combination saved me I guess, especially with the turning ring part (quite hard at first). I liked the atmosphere, brought by the music, blood red tones and being suspended above emptiness. Coming along with the difficulty, this games kept some tension without being frentic. It is slow paced, yet I played it nervous, holding my breath before jumping into the void many times XD. I also kinda loved the emprisoned guy that adds a touch of weirdness and being able to select parts to explore in no particular order at first. A few random sfx in the vein of the music could have been welcome as the games leaves you alone once the music stopped for some reason. Anyway, good job :) Cheers!
Dec 28 11:40:14 17m 25s FTD : Fixin' to Die ♥ 3 Wow what an impressive job here! I felt from the start like this game would rule, and I was not disapointed. Everything is amazingly polished and well designed. The game's visual is awesome, with super neat pixel art and animations; every doctor's move is well animated and verysatisfying to watch. The UI is simple and well designed, fitting perfectly to the game. I loved the blood effusions and splats, tiny details on the dying soldiers body, the palette choice overall... Then, there is this amazing work on sounds and music, with awesome humorous acting voices. Very professional, very funny, and very coherent with the game. I was astonished by visuals, but I was kinda prepared to this by gifs and screenshots of the game before I played it. The sfx/music/acting were the real good surprise, regarding artsy things. The gameplay is kinda fast paced, I liked it as it kept me busy and was somehow incremental through the levels/days. It felt sometimes quite hard but it seems to be somehow balanced to keep you addicted, I'm not really sure if I could beat levels because I improved or because the game was becoming more nice with me to avoid ragequits XD anyway that is somehow well balanced to keep you playing and busy, and that's a great thing. What else to say? I sometimes ended killing everyone just becase the game was starting to get me mad, and couldn't beat level 4 but I may give a try to the postjam version :) Awesome! Great job and congrats! Cheers
Dec 28 11:57:06 16m 52s Bunnycula ♥ 1 Good job and great funny mood, I was a bit lost at first but once I understood controls, I throwed carrots and grabbed the bunnies easily. I loved the cool particle and simple "programer's art", this is simple yet good looking and feeling alive. The light effects were cool too, it felt like it was part of the gameplay but could maybe have been more. Reading your (hilarious) game's description, with all these sacrifices we have to do, that is very understandable :) that fits to the theme and gamejam cult spirit XD I empathize for the wife, may she know she is not the only one... Cheers!
Dec 28 12:07:13 10m 07s No Step Back ♥ 0 Wow, that is really hard! The game's design and gameplay is simple and this would have potential especially for a mobile game, yet I really couldn't manage to get through the middle of the map :/ That was a little bit frustrating. The gameplays sticks to the theme but I felt it could be easier with the addition of checkpoints or separate small and easier levels; maybe selecting soldiers to move or being able to block some could be an interesting thing to balance the game ? Good job! Cheers!
Dec 28 16:23:50 4h 16m Jesus Take the Wheel ♥ 1 Awesome work! I loved pretty much every aspect of the game: the visuals are looking good and well polished,it sets a mood that reminded me Monthy Pyton, coming along with great humor. I especially loved the stories that are related to people killed in the run, that seemed infinite and could watch this laughting for almost as long as I played. I also loved the amazing job done on music, with variations on the same theme. It sounds good even looping in background while doing something else, watching the screen scroll down revealing all the corpses and short stories. I could reach 37 MI, then Jesus had no more power so it was everything in freestyle, killing pedestrians from everywhere for awhile ; a real carnage! It takes some time to get used to control and understand how to deal with drivers getting out of control. I loved the different mechanics related to the type of cars and found the 3xbikes very smart and fun to manage. To go further what can I say ? some random ideas : a multiplayer mode, some unlocks and goals, some more crazy obstacles ands ways to die and it could result in a very hyping and addictive game :) Very polished and addictive entry, very professional! Congrats! :) Cheers!
Dec 29 09:07:30 16h 43m Model Trains Inc ♥ 1 Very nice and polished game! This is quite hard to manage but it brings some interesting runs once getting used to the gameplay mecanics. I loved the relaxing aspect of watching trains on their path but each time I was chilling down, there was something unsplanned that was going wrong. I tried both levels several times but I think they are kinda too hard for me to chill, but it's a good thing as these 2 levels puts the lights on different challenges of the game, even if this is not really explicit at first sight: the game, even if kinda slow paced, confronts you directly to the gameplay after the level selection and I had forgotten the second level at first (so I discovered it after coming back to the game.) I was really amazed by the cute visual design and details such as ending scenes, great job. This is very bright and sets a really good and positive mood. The lights, models and colors are really looking nice together. I also loved to find back the *mouthcrafted* sfx and voice acting you often use in LD games, it is always bringing a smile to my face. GREAT! Cheers!
Dec 29 09:21:03 13m 33s Meta Magic ♥ 1 This one is quite hard :) I could not beat 47 seconds, so each game is quite intense :) it may be a little too hard for me, but the concept is good and fits the theme. Maybe 1 HP could deliver more mana, as the sacrifice mecanism is only exploited for a very small amount of time until death ? It took some time to feel confortable with controls; the mix of aiming and moving with mouse cursor and shooting with keyboard was kinda weird at first;I wished I could stop the player from moving with a mouse button or something, as I could not avoid moving toward enemies while aiming to them. I had fun trying different spells but some are quite harder to use with these controls, and a over using is quite punitive in the gameplay. Also, it was a nice idea to affect the game's visuals with the use of sacrifice, but I had no idea of times I was getting hurt. Cool music and SFX too. Good job! Cheers!
Dec 29 09:28:55 7m 52s Colors of Your World ♥ 1 Nice classic platformer, I really loved the visuals (and colors :') and the overall mood of visuals. The incremental power up systems brings some cool level design and allows to introduce the story and link with the theme, so that's a cool thing. I especially loved the player's animations and effects. It was a bit short but well balanced with no frustrating part. The music sounds really nice too. Good job! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:05:49 1h 36m King Combat ♥ 0 The game concept sounds interesting but I keep having error 24 and 110 that freeze the game so I cannot really tell as my adventures ends up really short each time because of this :/ Aside from that I liked tiny SFX and funny cool quotes above characters; I wish I had patience to restart until I win but this error is frustrating. Good thing you have a debug console ;) Cheers!
Dec 29 11:16:16 10m 27s Unnecessary Evil ♥ 2 Awesome puzzle game, I really enjoyed the story telling and characters, and discovering that I had to take a new look at the game to reach it's real end: great take on the sacrifice part, with gameplay elements that are actually not needed to end the game but seems at first the easiest (and most unecessary evil) option. I loved how I had to take a closer look at the characters abilities to solve the game, instead of just feeling they have one and just go through the end sacrifying them one by one. I loved how the sprites feel alive with some code behind it and their design overall, added to their different quotes according to the situation. For once the mix with 3d backgrounds looks quite nice to me;sounds and music were were coming along nicely with the game. Very smart and well executed! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:20:13 3m 57s Sacriphylagus ♥ 1 Minimalist game but challenging, I scored 6000 after some tries :) I liked the different mechanics that forces the player to balance between carrots/rabbits/hooks etc and stuff even if the effects are not truly visible at first :) This could be a sweet little game with a few more *juice* and polish! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:24:43 4m 30s Tombstones and Tribulations ♥ 0 Nice concept but a bit slow, I did not have the patience to reach the 2nd floor as I had some bloncking bugs (tombs disappearing between stages) or bad moves (...spikes :) Great job on atmospheric sound, it sets a cool dark atmosphere. Good idea anyway! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:34:59 10m 16s Re:Call ♥ 1 Nice puzzle game, with a smart gameplay related to the theme :) I kinda loved the minimalist and neon aspect of it, and the small puzzle. It wasn't as hard as I expected and this provided a good and non frustrating learning curve. That was great to learn and mix new skills to solve the puzzle. I had to restart few times as I did not notice the smoke ability, nor understood the throw mechanic at first so I was getting stuck... But in another hand i loved how you introduced the moves and controls in the tutorial with red points on the controller, I should have paid more attention at first :) That was kinda easy but very enjoyable. Great job especially for a compo! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:40:45 5m 46s Pyme's Genocide ♥ 2 Super cute experiment, the visuals are amazingly cute and good looking with all these colors and polish. The SFX and music are very well executed too. I couldn't really understand what I was supposed to do as I felt somehow stuck after a few platforms, and always felt into the void, but I enjoyed wandering around and throwing all these cuteness at random. Maybe a little more explanations and guidance on the player's goal would be welcome :) Good job! Cheers!
Dec 29 11:56:57 16m 12s hiJack ♥ 0 Great concept, yet very hard to master. I'm always kinda stuck after possessing the big-reflecting-shots ship. I wish the game would be a little much easier as I see that there is still new ships to control after my blocking point but I do not have the patience to beat it :) Very good job on the visual neon aspect of it, minimalist yet animated and smooth. Even if it is taken from another project congrats as this is looking good and well takin form together. Some ideas thrown at random to make it less frustrating: give full health when possessing, giving a small invincible time when possessing (spawning into with enemies ship or bullets colliding is so frustrating...), a bigger shooting rates with upgraded ships... Also, I had several issues with slowdowns and controls playing HTML version, and I had really much fun with the desktop version. Very nicely exectued and addictive arcade game overall! Cheers!
Dec 29 20:42:49 8h 45m Lastcrifices ♥ 0 Nice horrizontal scroller, feel like a "avoid'em'up" game XD I liked to be a missile, that makes sense with the theme. I also liked the famous game characters quotes, but it hides a little bit the screen :) I had to restart a few times to beat all levels in a row but that was fun, even if the end was a bit hard and sometimes random 🆙 some idea:maybe some bonus to have some satellites around the missile, some shield ? Good job! cheers
Dec 30 13:20:19 16h 37m Penance ♥ 1 Cool game ! I'm glad I could beat it, it required several hartd tries XD I tested both versions and I appreciated the work done since the first release, but I think the tutorial text could still be displayed longer. The game is quite furnished and has some interesting features, and I had to give a few tries to different strategies before I could understand the best choice and finally slay everyone. My major plan was to rush for 300 blood credits and instant buy the machine gun. This is quite easy and offers plenty of monsters to massacre XD It became much more easy so maybe to balance : delete bullets once off the screen? add some cooldown when over using it? the sword could have a small knockback on ennemies to make it much powerful, to make fights more dynamics I liked discovering weapons and buyers, different map areas and aspect of the game. The main difficulty at first was time and distance to the time seller (or being a bit lost or unable to remember and recognize him). The ennemies weapons shoots a bit fast, maybe it could be a bit much nice to slow them down and warn the player he has been hurt. The final boss felt a bit weak once I had the machinegun, maybe it would need more HP =) Nice one ! Cheers !
