| Aug 12 23:48:29 | Kessler Syndrome | ♥ 2 | Neat game! The music is simple and not overwhelming. The game also has a bit more depth than you might think at first. | |
| Aug 13 03:05:58 | 3h 17m | Bon☆Guys | ♥ 2 | I like the art quite a bit, and it seems like a cute game. I grew two Bon-Guys in the original pots, but when the person came to buy them I didn't know how to sell them. Not sure if it's just un-intuitive, bugged, or not implemented at all. Aside from that I imagine that with the addition of some background music, and simple sound effects the game would be quite charming! |
| Aug 13 06:22:06 | 3h 16m | A Way Out | ♥ 1 | Simple music that isn't obnoxious, nice art, fits the theme, and has decent gameplay. Great job for your first published game! |
| Aug 14 03:43:39 | 21h 21m | Colony | ♥ 1 | Cute game! It's a shame that the character can move (which is much smoother with a joystick) and jump using a gamepad, but that he's unable to shoot since I assume the game only checks for the Keycode.Q where as the others check against GetAxis("horizontal") and GetButtonDown("Jump"). |
| Aug 14 03:46:39 | 3m 00s | Return to Garbage World | ♥ 1 | Neat game! Quite difficuly for me since I'v never played a game like Kerbal Space Program before. Reading through this page made it clear what I needed to do, but besides altitude and gas I would have been pretty confused with the general mechanics I think. Like others have stated, I think that orientation to the planet is probably the largest hurdle. |
| Aug 14 04:56:25 | 1h 09m | Aeromancer | ♥ 1 | Awesome game, quite impressive for such a short time frame. Aside from wishing I could use my controller, since using keyboard for a platformer feels uncomfortable to me, I don't really have any complaints. Blocking out the mechanics to change your approach to a level is a pretty interesting take on the theme. Here are my times for each level. - level 1: 40 seconds - level 2: 69 seconds - level 3: 59 seconds - level 4: 43 seconds - level 5: 35 seconds - level 6: 68 seconds |
| Aug 15 01:32:25 | 20h 36m | Le Parking | ♥ 0 | Neat game! Controls definitely make it quite challenging to be expedient. Trying to get in and out of the cars can be a bit challenging as well. I enjoyed the music, and the simple graphics certainly work with this type of game. |
| Aug 15 01:45:40 | 13m 15s | Graveyard Gary | ♥ 0 | Nice game. Feels very arcade-y with the graphics and the gameplay loop it has. Nice that there are a variety of things to take of, and that the graveyard degrades over time while you're attempting to take care of the new tasks. |
| Aug 15 02:30:02 | 44m 22s | Ultimate Question - 42 | ♥ 2 | Fun game! Definitely difficult (at least for me haha) Love the graphics! The ambient noise seems to occasionally cut out, and then will restart once you've retried again. (Maybe there is just blank noise in the audio and it happened to sync up with me restarting) I like the tension between trying to aim your destination and not spending so much time that you get swallowed up by the universe. |
| Aug 15 03:10:58 | 40m 56s | Snake Reduction | ♥ 1 | Mechanics work. You followed the theme. Graphics are simple and nice, the fade in with new walls is a nice touch. It would be nice to add in a bit of background music, and sound effects. Nice job for your first submission! |
| Aug 15 03:16:47 | 5m 49s | Running out of space and into your spaceship | ♥ 1 | Neat game! The mechanics are clear and introduced in a manner that doesn't overwhelm the player. It's too bad that failure results in a complete reset of the game, as opposed to setting checkpoints between sections (for example as you hit the section that teaches you about lasers). |
| Aug 15 05:10:59 | 1h 54m | VCR STAR | ♥ 2 | Great game! The video clips are very humorous. The mechanics for the recording and what-not are quite interesting. Took a minute to figure out how everything ties together before linking scenes together. Before you explained how the goals are tracked it was unclear how they worked. For example, the first scene was the snake massacre and I thought only one part (where the viking character kills the snakes and save lion-man) was needed to meet that goal. Overall a very neat idea, and a good implementation of the theme. |
| Aug 15 05:25:47 | 14m 48s | Final Voyage | ♥ 1 | Cool game! At least one of the text display boxes has text that overflows past the graphical container, which obviously isn't great. Otherwise graphics are nice! The building selection bug that you described on erebuswolf's stream is definitely frustrating. The voice acting is a nice touch, and the music/sounds are nice and simple. The UI is a bit inconsistent, for example the size and graphics between the characters, and buildings. The minimap is also a nice touch. Good job overall! |
| Aug 15 05:47:00 | 21m 13s | Djabo | ♥ 2 | Nice game! I really like the graphics, though the vertical movement (mostly downward) animation is a little awkward looking. The darkness infesting new areas has a wonderfully creepy sound and animation. The drop in to the area is a great way to feel like you're instantly put into the action. The tutorial is pretty good at teaching the mechanics. One part of the tutorial that seems misplaced is being told not to be overwhelmed after the enemies have already begun to expand. The charging area seems like it might take a bit too long, and possibly like forced cushioning. It's a great start, but it's a bit sad that by the time you're taught the mechanics, the game is already over. Great job on your jam entry, hope any of this was useful! |
| Aug 15 09:03:53 | 3h 16m | Garbage Gods | ♥ 2 | The art is great. Fits the theme. The readme alleviates a bit of the confusion as to what buildings do, but even so it would be nice to have labels for the buildings to associate with the names in the readme. Unfortunate that it's completely silent. |
| Aug 15 09:11:57 | 8m 04s | MoonSpell | ♥ 1 | Cool game! Made it to level 8 I think. The music and art are quite nice. The movement seems pretty responsive, and the game-play is enjoyable. The game fits the theme. The levels get progressively more difficult. It's really unfortunate that losing on a level sends you all the back to the start, that is definitely something I dislike about the game. It also might be nice to have a little longer delay before the level becomes intractable to be able to plan your path out a little, especially with how fast the circle closes as you progress. |
| Aug 15 09:22:31 | 10m 34s | SWORD1 | ♥ 1 | Great game! Great music, art and general idea, certainly fits the theme. It seems like certain levels that are placed further into the game are actually easier than some earlier on. For example, the enemies with the double ended weapons didn't cause me any trouble, while the speed of the archers arrows can make some of the initial levels more difficult. The slippery movement could probably be tuned down a bit more. The introduction of bombs is cool, though it might be nice if they exploded sooner, or on impact against an enemy. Nice that you have level selection implemented from the start (something that most level based jam games tend to miss). Overall a good job, I look forward to seeing what you come up for the next jam! |
| Aug 15 09:37:27 | 14m 56s | Inventorious | ♥ 0 | Neat game! Fits the theme. Simple music and graphics. Puzzles are quite interesting, progressively more difficult and introduce ideas that change the way you think about how to solve them. Would have been crazy if the thank you for playing level was indeed solveable. Great job! |
| Aug 16 21:42:43 | 36h 05m | Honest Dan's Clutteral Damage | ♥ 1 | Interesting game. Bug (I assume): Pausing the game during the beginning dialogue of a day, and then un-pausing causes the timer to resume and allows the player to move but not interact with objects until the dialogue has completed. The graphics are very nice, the main thing I noticed is that while most UI items have a border around them, the panels on the left and right side don't have any border and just transition right into the main game screen. It also seemed a bit strange to have both a pickup/drop button as well as an interact button; perhaps that would be needed when the game gets much more cluttered, but I found myself wasting time trying to open the container screens by pressing the pickup/drop button and since the time during each day is limited that was frustrating. The music was nice, some sound effects would help towards cohesiveness as well. It would also be nice to see which 'tile' you're aiming at, as sometimes I would actually be aiming above the character while thinking that I was aiming at a side container do to the character facing that direction. Hope this was useful, and nice job! |
| Aug 16 22:04:48 | 22m 05s | Data Runner (LD42-Jammer Edition) | ♥ 1 | Cool game, while you don't have much space to begin with, you don't seem to run out of space. The visuals and audio are pretty nice. The mouse aiming seems to snap to angles as opposed to being smooth while aiming the mouse which feels really bad in terms of game-play (If it's unintended, I was playing the full-screen version of the game in case it's not consistent between versions). I tried to use the keys as well and the behavior on them seemed even more bizarre. Overall nice job on the entry! |
| Aug 16 22:25:38 | 20m 50s | Closing In | ♥ 0 | Got to a bit over 4k. Seems like many of the rings get cut off by the walls quite early. It also seems like the hit detection on the rings isn't always accurate. The sounds are pretty decent, and graphics feel arcade-y. It would be nice if there were segments that you had to make it through before they close, and then have to do the same for the following segments perhaps endlessly. Currently the game ends very quickly which hurts this type of gameplay IMO. I hope any of this helps, good job on your entry! |
| Aug 18 00:35:18 | 26h 09m | Legacy | ♥ 1 | Nice art and mood. I think the bug alex ran into was caused by collecting those two items at the same time that are next to each other. I had the same issue, but simply opening and closing the inventory made it go away for me (I see you made an edit saying it's fixed, so I assume the fix hasn't been uploaded, or there is still an issue). The jump feels pretty good overall. It's a bit cumbersome scrolling to the end of the item list to check if you should keep it or not when you don't have enough space to hold everything. Perhaps start on the new item rather than the first entry, or show the new item next to the item you're choosing to replace. It might be nice if the outline for the thorns and other damaging entities was red or something that looks a bit more dangerous, because while I understood they needed to be avoided, I could see others being confused by the fact that the outline and the colors of the switched/gates are very similar and thus think the switches and gates can hurt you as well. The movement and jump were fine, but the teleportation and cancellation buttons were a bit awkward to press. Forcing the player through an invisible wall at the beginning is a good indicator that there are secrets throughout the level to search for. Good job overall! |
