| Aug 1 19:16:08 | Watervapor | ♥ 0 | Cool game! I played it in Chrome on OS X and it worked flawlessly. I agree with a previous reviewer that the purpose of the power-ups were pretty vague, but the mechanics were fun and it's a pretty fun concept! | |
| Aug 1 19:24:09 | 8m 01s | Ducks in a Row | ♥ 1 | This is pretty clever! I'd love to see a version with more levels -- it could be a really fun way to pass time on the bus. Great job :) |
| Aug 1 19:32:40 | 8m 31s | Quest | ♥ 0 | The tutorials are perfect -- they reveal just enough about the game without taking away the puzzle-solving aspect. I'd love to see some more levels. Really great entry! |
| Aug 1 19:39:42 | 7m 02s | Geralt's secret powersource | ♥ 1 | Wow, the graphics are really good -- I'm impressed with how much you got done in just a couple of days! Fun gameplay, and some in-game humor. Solid entry! |
| Aug 1 19:49:59 | 10m 17s | Elemental Conflict | ♥ 2 | Turn-based games can be tough to get right in such a short time, especially if you want to include a number of different abilities. I think you've done a great job with this entry! My only gripes were with the length of each battle (too long), and some confusing feedback -- it wasn't clear how damage against me was tallied, and I never seemed near death. |
| Aug 2 02:21:56 | 6h 31m | PowerBot | ♥ 2 | This is great! Really nice level design, good graphics, and some fun mechanics. My only gripe is with the controls -- jump is really floaty and difficult to control, and left ctrl key is hard to hit (maybe try using the R key?). I really enjoyed this one though. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 02:30:39 | 8m 43s | Uninterruptible Power | ♥ 0 | Well great job showing your team mates that you don't need them -- this turned out really well, considering your change in plans! I like the level variation, and it's challenging but fair. The camera is the only thing that hurts it for me -- it's hard to judge your jumps when the platforms disappear off screen. Really glad you pulled this off though. You should be proud! |
| Aug 2 02:41:26 | 10m 47s | Despot 3900 | ♥ 2 | A really creative take on the theme, and great execution! I love the green and pink -- reminds me of old games like Oregon Trail, but it's definitely it's own thing. I got myself into a loop of taxing the nobles, imprisoning a noble, giving money to the peasants, imprisoning another noble, ad infinitum. I died with 100% popularity and 0% loyalty, but I never suffered a coup so that's nice :P I could see you taking this further -- adding some random events that throw a bit of chaos into the mix, and a few more factions to make your decisions a bit more interesting. I'm glad I played this one! |
| Aug 2 02:48:24 | 6m 58s | Somewhat Slightly Dazed | ♥ 0 | I can definitely see this becoming a fun puzzle game. You've got great graphics, good controls, and a neat concept. Unfortunately, just like @aafoncebox I wasn't able to get to the bottom-left block or push any blocks around. I'm not sure if the push feature wasn't implemented, or if I'm just doing it wrong. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 03:03:20 | 14m 56s | HoverBots | ♥ 1 | I'm on a Mac, but I set up a VM to run Windows so I could play and rate some more games. Sadly my little machine just isn't up to the task of running this one... just wanted to pop in and say thanks for your review. Keep making games, and have fun! |
| Aug 2 03:10:06 | 6m 46s | daemon | ♥ 2 | The artwork is fantastic, and I could definitely see myself getting better after each death. A bit of dark souls influence? The controls are tight -- jumping and moving felt good. Would be nice if the energy bar were visible while you were moving, and if the first level took some time to ease you in a bit more. Nice job overall! |
| Aug 2 03:17:05 | 6m 59s | Turn Out | ♥ 1 | Sweet! I love a good puzzle game, and this one was really different. I could probably keep playing this one for a while -- thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 03:28:13 | 11m 08s | Trump Clicker | ♥ 1 | Haha, ok this is silly but it's pretty fun! I loved building a little self-sustaining controversy machine, and your controversy currency system is brilliant. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 03:35:32 | 7m 19s | Electro-Brains | ♥ 1 | WebGL worked for me. It was a little choppy, but that may be because I'm running in a VM. Fun game -- I got overwhelmed pretty quickly, but given a few more playthroughs I can definitely see myself getting better. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 03:40:20 | 4m 48s | Breaker Breaker! | ♥ 2 | Great entry! I love the oldschool GameBoy artwork -- especially the explosion when you crash looks really well polished. Took me a second to get the hang of it, but once I did the controls felt tight and the I had a ton of fun. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 19:32:22 | 15h 52m | Tank Empty | ♥ 1 | Those other drivers are jerks! This was a ton of fun though -- great job for just 6 hours! I managed to make it 22km. Would be even better if the challenge increased over time, but a solid entry nonetheless. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 19:41:04 | 8m 42s | Mothership | ♥ 0 | Really creative idea! I wasn't able to get very far, but I really enjoyed the squad management aspect. Felt like an RTS/castle defense mashup. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 19:44:49 | 3m 45s | Magnetic Power | ♥ 1 | It's too bad you weren't able to finish this one -- there's some real promise here. The 1-to-1 player-enemy movement style reminds me of Crypto of the Necrodancer, and I'm curious about where it would have gone if you'd had more time. I hope you're up for trying again next time :) |
| Aug 2 19:57:39 | 12m 50s | Supernode | ♥ 0 | Wow, I could see myself killing a fair amount of time on the bus with this game. Really simple concept, but it goes deep. My only gripe is that I'd like to be able to speed up the game timer at will so I don't have to sit there waiting for another node to show up. That might break the zen-like mood you seem to be going for though. Solid entry. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 2 20:02:45 | 5m 06s | Character Building | ♥ 2 | Haha, ok this one's just a little depressing -- no matter what I do I'm always wrong! Fun idea, would be interesting if previous decisions could effect future decisions, or even effect the kinds of decisions you have to make later on down the line. Nice job. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 03:14:40 | 7h 11m | Temple of Illumination | ♥ 2 | Easily one of the better entries I've played so far. The music is great, and the sheer number of levels you managed to get in there is impressive! My only gripe is with the controls, which took me a while to get used to and never felt very intuitive. Great idea, great execution -- looking forward to seeing what you put together for #40. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 03:24:54 | 10m 14s | Runnerbot LD39Entry | ♥ 1 | Heads up -- I'm afraid I'm getting the following error when I try to load the WebGL version. I'm on a Mac with Chrome and Safari, if it helps. "An error occured running the Unity content on this page. See your browser JavaScript console for more info. The error was: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: UnityProgress" I went ahead and downloaded the OS X version though, and that runs just fine! Great job with this one -- the graphics are really well done, and you managed to fit a lot into the game and make everything feel super-intuitive. Would be great if there were some sound, but it's a solid entry regardless. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 03:35:39 | 10m 45s | Achluophobia | ♥ 1 | Turning the monsters into toys is a really fun idea! I was trying to use the arrow keys at first, so it took me a minute to figure out how to use the flashlight, but once I did it was smooth sailing. I think you could take this further pretty easily -- adding some verticality to the level design, giving the player a win condition, and spawning enemies in a more predictable way would do a lot for this game. Overall I really enjoyed it though. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 03:46:12 | 10m 33s | Solar Defence | ♥ 1 | Cool game! I liked the opposing goals of staying near the light source and defending targets that are hidden from it. Simple, effective mechanics. My only gripe was with the jump, which felt too slow for a game that demands immediacy. Good entry. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 03:54:02 | 7m 50s | PoweRL | ♥ 1 | I agree that the pixel art you're working on now is better-looking, but the vector graphics aren't terrible. It's really obvious what everything is/does, and didn't take much to pick this one up. It took waaay more effort to put it down -- I really enjoyed this one! Those rabbits are jerks though :P |
| Aug 3 04:19:37 | 25m 35s | Escape! | ♥ 1 | Difficult, but hell that's what you want out of a puzzle game! I like the simple mechanics -- makes it easy to pick up and play. I didn't like only being able to shoot up or down though... felt needlessly limiting. Overall, solid entry. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 04:27:43 | 8m 06s | TRIAL OF THE 3 SUNS | ♥ 0 | I love the unique mechanic! This felt like Super Meat Boy meets DDR, and I'd love it even more if there were music to go along with the keypress prompts. The platforming is alright, though the jump mechanic could use some tightening up. Really great entry though -- thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 04:43:00 | 15m 17s | Power Struggle | ♥ 1 | Wow, that gets hard in a hurry. The first wave was manageable, but the second wave overwhelmed me pretty quickly! I love a good shmup though, and you put together some nice graphics and music. Good entry -- thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 3 19:23:21 | 14h 40m | M. O. P. S. | ♥ 2 | The graphics and music are great, and I like the idea! I was able to keep my energy production going pretty well, but I never quite figured out what the end game was. I'm guessing you ran out of time to get everything you wanted in there -- weapons, etc... but I had fun playing around with it. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 4 02:52:29 | 7h 29m | Gargoyle's Curse | ♥ 1 | I love the Pico 8 -- glad to see it pop up in this compo! The graphics are perfect for this style of game. The controls felt tight and responsive, and I loved all the sound effects. Overall this is a fantastic entry. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 4 03:04:49 | 12m 20s | Starship | ♥ 1 | Nice little retro throwback -- the sound and graphics are perfect for the style of game you were going for. Intergalactic postal service is a fun idea, and I didn't have any trouble getting missions from planets and delivering them to others. I'm afraid I never did figure out how shields and phasers worked though, and mostly just avoided enemies as much as possible. I could see you building this one up a bit more -- maybe adding some random events each time you reach a planet, and throwing in some bonuses for successful combat. Solid entry -- thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 4 19:18:13 | 16h 13m | Artax | ♥ 2 | Wow, it's hard to believe you managed to to so much in a long weekend. The pixel art is great, the gameplay is intuitive but with plenty of opportunity for complex puzzle-solving, and the mechanics are tight and responsive. It feels good to play, and I'd love to play more. Thanks for sharing! |
| Aug 4 19:28:17 | 10m 04s | Advanced Infiltration Management System | ♥ 0 | Nice, simple first-person shooter. It ran smoothly, and despite the simple graphics I actually really liked the visual style -- it reminded me of some of the first-generation playstation games. I had trouble figuring out how to regain energy, and while I managed to do it a few times I'm still not sure I understand it. I found the slowdown when the server is near death pretty annoying... I wanted to move fast to try to fix things, but it felt more like the game was already over. Overall this is a solid compo entry. Thanks for sharing! |
