LD35 — Shapeshift

SAMSARA by Huskitch 2016-04-19T17:22:00

The gameplay was very unique. Adapting a shield to stop the incoming shape was really cool.

I didn't see a way to lose the game. It seems like it would just stop sending shapes after a little time passed. Also, the rate at which the shapes came seemed to speed up a little too quickly for me.

At times the correct shield would fail to block a shape. Sometimes shapes would go right through an already active shield of the correct type too.

Crisp controls and great visuals. Overall very well done.

Arnold Stallion's Pump or Die by arzi 2016-05-01T05:05:00

Love the Double Dragon style of animation and gameplay.

The Quest for the Lindworm by ZYXer 2016-04-21T01:41:00

So far one of my favorite games of LD35! I found myself wanting to play it just to see what kinds of upgrades I could get from different monsters. It really appealed to the treasure seeker in me. Additionally, the art is fantastic and to see that you made this procedurally really blows my mind.

Captain Shape by tiffi 2016-04-25T18:25:00

I really liked the multi touch input. It created an interesting challenge dynamic.

Photagogue by ChuiGum 2016-04-21T01:35:00

I will tell you what....this game is HARD. I am not good at the traditional control scheme for PC platformers so it was that much more difficult for me. I did notice that sometimes the dinos would one shot me from full health. Other than that I really enjoyed the game. Great job!

Turbo Transform by Robber 2016-04-19T19:15:00

Awesome game, simply awesome. Everything is so polished I am finding it difficult to say anything other than awesome.

The Shapes of the Druid by BluShine 2016-04-26T03:05:00

Very interesting game.

Boyd, P.I. by TTFTCUTS 2016-04-19T14:35:00

The game is in the Android secrion, but I can't seem to get it to run. In browser it stays on the "getting things ready" screen forever. And I don't see an app I could use to install ut. Either it shouldn't be in the Android section or my device is incompatible. Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Will play at home on my comp later and provide you with some ratings then. Cheers!

Shape Rave by MintArcade 2016-04-19T18:30:00

I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are awesome and it reminded me of oldschool tempest! Great!

Alien Shape Shifters by legendpaul 2016-04-19T14:28:00

Great idea but I wasn't able to complete any levels. Playing on a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Whenever I pressed the movement button on a single alien they would pop up to the top left and then fall. Water filling seemed inconsistent as well. One play the water only filled to the bottom, another time it filled to the middle, and once the water filled to the top of the level. I was unable to get to the ship successfully. Finally, the scoreboard did not fit on my screen, it extended out to the right and made it unreadable.

UPSHIFT by Jessica Hayley 2016-04-21T18:44:00

Great game! Timing the key presses to the max size of the shapes makes it work well, the audio seems just a micro bit off to me.

Monster Jumper by panicq 2016-04-21T01:30:00

I really enjoyed playing this game. It was a bit difficult for me but overall I found myself wanting to keep playing just to try and get further. Great graphics, amazing sense of humor, and an interesting and unique take on the theme.

Werewolf Escape by BSODDevTeam 2016-04-19T18:17:00

Great artwork but I had issues with colliders. It felt like the colliders for the player were too large and caused me to get hit by things that were not physically touching me. Additionally the controls seemed a bit tough to use due to the acceleration of the player. Besides the story there didn't seem to be much regarding the theme. Other than those small issues great job!

Mushroom Muncher by Kuality Games 2016-04-21T01:39:00

Awesome graphics. I love the little bits of detail that went into this game. I found the controls to be crisp and responsive and the gameplay to be very entertaining. I really enjoyed watching that multiplier skyrocket when I was having a good run. Amazing job!

Andari Prime by Fabraz 2016-04-19T17:51:00

Great game! I beat it on my second play-through (the first time I broke the game by jumping off a roof, changing to a turtle, grabbing onto a wall, which placed me inside of a building whilst being incapable of movement).

After you get used to the camera controls the game is pretty awesome. My only complaint was that I would want my camera inverted (I won't hold that against you). Overall awesome!

Shifty Witch by jordgubben 2016-04-28T17:06:00

Tried it on Edge25 HTML13 (Current Version) and the only problem was that the arrow keys did not respond. I could shift and fire but not move.

JaJa's Bizarre Transformer by reckhou 2016-04-20T23:22:00

Great game! I really liked the music and the fun style of the game! The old CRT style visual was amazing as well! Good thing I had infinite lives, or it would have been nearly impossible for me! Awesome!

Super Morphius by RoboNebula 2016-04-19T19:06:00

Extremely difficult but fun! I wanted to keep trying but I got too frustrated with myself. Awesome graphics, awesome music, great gameplay! I really mean it is difficult, like, contra level difficult. I wish I could have beat it.

Paranormal Investigator by kwmx 2016-04-21T01:38:00

All in all I like this game. It was really difficult at first because there were so many things in the level that I had to try and memorize but I did eventually notice something out of place and caught the monster!

Funkenstein's Monster by Bored 2016-04-28T16:55:00

Good controls and nice level design. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out the controls while playing the LD version. I got run, jump, and sprint, but I wasn't sure what to do with the game.

Crystal Cry by John Ceceri III 2016-04-19T16:04:00

Very interesting! Do you have plans to put a health system in at all?

Disarranged by Sheepolution 2016-04-19T19:49:00

Best game I have played thus far. Amazing! Thank you for this!

LMAO. Love.

Shape Game Without Great Name by matiz982 2016-04-19T18:38:00

That music though! I am a fan of the old-school sound FX. Great job. I loved the triple shot ability. Awesome!

TerraShift by Leon Möhring 2016-04-19T20:22:00

Very well done. I actually played through twice because I found myself very entertained. Amazing graphics and a good take on the shapeshifting theme.

VampShift: The Bloodening by abaines 2016-05-01T05:36:00

So difficult.

Claws shape by in3orn 2016-04-19T15:39:00

Hey I really enjoyed playing your game. I thought that the concept was interesting and the way that you set up the puzzles was actually very intriguing. I did have one small problem while playing though. At one point in the game the button clicking sounds just stopped. I also noticed that my character in the character selection screen was not gaining any experience even though I completed all but the last level. Finally I think that this game would be perfect for casual mobile play if there was a bit more player feedback. At first I thought that I was just losing Health randomly before I realize that the enemy was hurting me. And at the very beginning of the game I found myself confused as to how to use the mana system. It might seem naïve but I actually thought I was supposed to create the initial pattern that you showed a picture of not match a pattern to one of the predefined ones on the left or right. Great job though!

Morph_rulette by MalyTimi 2016-04-19T16:15:00

From an art standpoint the game is really great. But from a gameplay standpoint the game is 100% random. It's impossible to consistently play the game if you have to depend on the randomness of the world on top of the randomness of a character. I actually beat the game by just staying one character until the end. From my experience every time I tried to change characters I typically ended up dying in two or three clicks.

Memento Mori by ZeroFaction 2016-04-19T16:52:00

@adsiscott, we struggled with the idea of a respawn system, but we decided to stick with the literal interpretation of life and how you only have one.

Memento Mori by ZeroFaction 2016-04-19T16:56:00

@AceyT You should be able to move the character left and right as you desire using the arrow keys or A and D. Different phases of life have different speeds and jumps which probably lends to the confusion of the controls. If there is interest I would be willing to do a postmortem and playthrough video explaining our design ideas and thoughts in each section. Let me know if that is something you would like.

Memento Mori by ZeroFaction 2016-04-28T16:43:00

@GrooveMan what exactly about the controls did you find fiddly? We are interested in any details you could provide so that we can make future games feel better. Thanks!

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-21T01:32:00

I really enjoyed the art in this game. I wasn't a big fan of dying so early on with just melee attacks but once I got a ranged weapon it was ON. That being said, I actually think with a bit of balancing this could go from being very good to great! I really had fun playing it!

Bloodbearer by emielboven 2016-04-19T17:59:00

Really well done. I really liked the art and the crispness of the controls. I didn't see how it fit the theme but overall great game. Right clicking in the game made it crash for me, but I did make it to the imaginary victory screen! Yay!

Apeshifter Munk by monkeybit29 2016-04-19T18:54:00

Whoa! This game is amazing for being done in 48 hours! I really enjoyed playing it and the puzzles you set up were elegant and entertaining! Thank YOU!

ShipShifters! by gamesplusjames 2016-04-19T19:34:00

VERY WELL DONE! This is amazing how polished this game is with how little time you had to create it. Unfortunately, I got to the boss, and I could not kill him. Not for lack of skill. When the boss was at about 10% health, he would no longer take damage of any kind. Additionally, I could only see his guns at the end of the screen, he was not actually visible on the screen. That may have something to do with it. Other than that, amazing game! Great!

Shapeshift Wizard by foepje12 2016-04-19T18:04:00

Unfortunately I couldn't play the game. There is no Data Folder with the executable. DM me if you get it fixed so I can play and rate! Thanks!

THEY CANNOT DIE by Mango Malarkey 2016-04-21T01:33:00

I really like the idea of combining a TD with a twin stick shooter. The concept is something you should definitely expand upon. I think with a bit of polish and some solid level design (I was able to get on a pole where the enemies couldn't get to me) this would be a great game.

Chromeshift by diesel 2016-04-21T17:23:00

The slight delay in turning the cube kept making me lose. But that is user error it would seem. Great game!

You've got balls by The M 2016-04-21T16:52:00

Seriously lacks any frames of reference. Hard to tell how far / fast you are moving. Other than that great job!
