LD44 — Your life is currency

Spinny by internetpaulicy 2019-05-17T05:14:37Z

Obviously unfinished, but the concept was quite fun despite it not really matching the theme in any way. Even though most aspects of the game were minimalist, being able to have a reasonable amount of fun with the concept makes me want to see a more fleshed out version of this game come out sometime in the future.

People Are Just A Resource by Onizik 2019-05-17T05:16:26Z

The art is serviceable and the game music is satisfying (though maybe a little overdramatic for a resource management game :P). The mechanics are very basic, though, and there is very little in the way of strategy once you have a readily increasing amount of resources in all three columns. Being able to move the screen around is basically pointless. My biggest gripe may be that the numbers listed for cost/income don't accurately reflect what you're spending/gaining, and it caused me to lose quite a few times. There were quite a few grammatical and spelling errors, but I found them more amusing than detracting from the experience. My favorite part is how there are three different endings depending on which resource you max out. It's a very small change in between each victory, but a great touch regardless. Great use of the theme as well.

Sword guy by Ty Victorson 2019-05-17T05:17:23Z

The simple, but minimal art style is charming, even if it is a bit underdeveloped. Unfortunately, the combat and enemy AI is super mindless and requires nothing more than button mashing to succeed. I feel like if there was more nuance to it, it could have been a great survival game where you have to manage your life due to the currency system. The game's physics are so funky that I ended up being sent out-of-bounds before being forced to quit.

Swim by Ness 2019-05-17T05:18:57Z

This game is so bizarre that I don't really know what is going on. Given the unexplained controls, I thought that I was playing the game wrong at first, but I think that a lot of it is just unfinished. I can only figure out how to go up/down and forward/backward (not left or right) when I'm in the ocean, so I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do or interact with. It was neat to be able to explore what could have been a huge environment, but the confusion and general feeling of it being way unfinished made it more of an oddity than a good experience.

LD45 — Start with nothing

NakedMan Adventure by Brandon He 2019-10-12T02:27:05Z

THIS GAME IS AWESOME. The dialogue, while (probably) unintentionally written the way it was, was absolutely hilarious. The premise was creative, the graphics were fitting, and the gameplay was quite enjoyable. I would say my only issue with the game is that the right-click to move felt very awkward (I didn't realize that it moves you to the last position you clicked; I thought it would go to wherever I was holding it down at). Other than that, great work!! I look forward to your future games.

Nothing In A Bar by veer 2019-10-12T00:37:30Z

Funny game. The graphics were maybe a bit rough around the edges, and the grammar left a bit to be desired, but in a way I think that added to the overall charm of the environment. Games with branching dialogue paths are something I am always fond of, so it was fun discovering all of the different endings that were available. Not sure if I got all of them, but I probably didn't miss much. :stuck_out_tongue: Nice work!

Blind Side by chriskok 2019-10-13T09:22:23Z

Definitely among the most creative uses of the theme I have seen so far. Using an external program to detect the actions of my eyes is exciting, and I was happy to see that it functioned with the game properly. Well, for the most part. I think the game's fatal flaw is that it would detect my involuntary blinks as me closing my eyes, which would result in a constant fading in/out of the game screen. Once I learned that I wouldn't be able to play the game in this way, I had to close the program and just use the R button to toggle. I played through the first ten levels, and I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I been able to use the utilize original gimmick properly. It is otherwise just a subpar puzzle game, but I do realize that the eye capturing technology was the main point of showcase here. With that said, I feel that some of the mechanics could be improved upon to reflect the intent of the game. The obstacles that you can see despite you not having interacted with them before would probably benefit from a mechanical redesign of sorts, because it doesn't feel as if it fits with the purpose of the game. Perhaps some more varied and intuitive audio cues could be implemented? Speaking of which, the audio balancing did seem a bit off. The sound effects were particularly loud.

In spite of all of that though, I am very impressed by your ability to come up with such a creative game idea that focuses around a disability. Major points for innovation and theming, and I think if the game mechanics were fleshed out a bit more, it could work well with the eye detection. The issue I had with blinking was definitely the biggest problem I had though, so I think if that was fixed it would already be a huge improvement. Great work, and I do hope you expand on this more!

Curious Cube by Kiwilifter 2019-10-12T01:41:52Z

Very simple (and very short) indeed. :open_mouth: Not really much to comment on, but everything seemed to work as it should. I think I lucked into finding the first upgrade lol.

EGGS! by jaaskeh 2019-10-08T01:04:56Z

Pretty fun game! I feel that the game is a bit too hard for its own good -- I nearly finished level 3 a couple of times after spending a lot of time in each level -- but I am always a sucker for platformers with grappling hook mechanics. Something tells me this was made with one of the other themes in mind, the egg one, I think? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Nice work.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Trump Crisis Simulator 2020 by Lyje 2020-04-30T00:04:22Z

Funny game! I think the novelty is what carried it for me. I tried a few times to strike the right balance with my answers, but I always seemed to come short. Do you need to answer them in a specific order, or find a balance between each day's activity? On the downside, I think the commentary/humor was a bit too on-the-nose for me to get too much mileage out of it, and so I quickly got bored once I wasn't able to make it far. But overall, nice work; it's good for a laugh.

Aisle of Hell by Eddie Braun 2020-04-30T00:18:28Z

The graphics were pretty funny and the music was nice. The gameplay is really simple though; I found it really easy. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I managed to get a customer to push me out of bounds, and it still took me a few minutes for enough customers to die for me to lose the game, haha.

Kingdom heart by kilves 2020-04-30T00:59:16Z

Pretty simple, and it didn't seem like there was too much strategy. It works as a very rudimentary tower defense game, but there isn't much to say beyond that.

keepItGoing by justin322 2020-04-30T00:40:08Z

It felt pretty strange, somewhat artsy. The way that the gameplay worked in tandem with the visuals and music was curious; I was excited to see what would happen, but the game closed. I guess that was supposed to happen? Not sure what to make of it all.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Minions by Tom Cumpsty 2021-05-09T06:31:24Z

I'm not hip enough to have involved myself in blockchain/NFT stuff, so this is all a bit confusing to me. I played the single player, but didn't understand what I was doing, so it felt like I was just flicking around endlessly. Wish I could have tried the multiplayer, but it seems beyond my comprehension. The shapes have funny eyes though, so that's cool.

Deep Drill Miner by supersand24 2021-05-09T23:42:15Z

Enjoyable game, even in spite of how simple it is. I am always a sucker for this kind of progression where you slowly make your way further into an unknown while getting upgrades. A few points of concern: I noticed that, when I gave diamonds to the truck, the game crashed. It is also pretty easy to softlock yourself if you do not dig in a way that allows you to hook your way back up, which can be frustrating if you make just one error in judgement when determining where to dig next. I could not tell how the upgrade system worked; I was able to upgrade both my drill and fuel tank twice after exchanging just one or two loads of minerals, but it did not cost any money, and I couldn't seem to upgrade my drill or fuel tank any further after that.

I tried my best to find an optimal strategy to get as far down as I could and see if there was an end, but I ended up losing all of my fuel at depth 651. :disappointed: There comes a point where it is too tedious and fuel inefficient to continue digging downwards and climbing back up, so I am very interested in hearing if there is an end at a certain depth, or if there are any features that I missed.

Nice work overall. This could be a fun project to see be expanded.
