LD45 — Start with nothing

Light Bots by Inventivum Games 2019-10-07T09:20:27Z

Cool game, I liked the black and white style but it did make it hard to figure out where you could go (Since there were some objects in the foreground). Could maybe add some color to the game elements, like pipes, robots, boxes, etc. I also think the platforming was a little too quick, made it hard to time the jumps correctly. I also didn't realize I could double jump for a while.

Tactical Bodybuilding by SuperTibbles 2019-10-07T14:05:13Z

Love the idea, getting body parts onto the body was a bit finicky.

Better than nothing by Fictions 2019-10-07T09:28:39Z

Like the enemies and animations, could see it becoming more fun with more varied enemy types, maybe you could even unlock side rooms.

Buzzsaw Cat by DPS2004 2019-10-07T12:31:12Z

With the red cat level I thought going onto the target reset the level, so I was trying to lead the cat onto the target (because I thought that might be the goal). Definitely over thought it, could have used some feedback to show that the cat was losing health. Fun stuff though!

Buzzsaw Cat by DPS2004 2019-10-07T15:16:09Z

@dps2004 Ahh, probably would have noticed if I'd had my headphones on! (Some visual feedback would have been good too, like a health bar as you said)

David & Goliaths by FizzpowMike1 2019-10-07T09:59:00Z

Fun stuff, like the control scheme. An alternate control scheme could be just click to release the rock in the tangent direction (Though that'd probably make it too easy). Since I couldn't tell when the rock was going to go back into my arsenal, sometimes I would be trying to throw the diamond and end up throwing the rock instead because it spawned in front.

Nada by croben 2019-10-07T13:41:33Z

Cool game, love the vector graphics mixed with texture. Would be nice to have some idea of where the flowers are coming from beforehand -- as it is, a lot of the time I find myself getting hit by flowers that just spawned offscreen. Being helpless to fit the honeycomb is kind of a pain, it'd be nice if at least the player knew beforehand where it was going to appear so they could plan around that (For example, if the comb appears on the top, hang around the bottom of the screen to avoid getting flowers on your top).

Filibuster by scott.redrup 2019-10-07T09:53:06Z

Fun little typing game. The fact that you don't type spaces or punctuation makes it quite hard since you have to fight your muscle memory. I feel like skipping the whole word when you mess up one letter was a bit harsh, could have just gone to the next letter.

Shape Void by Jummit 2019-10-07T12:53:44Z

Took a bit to grasp the controls. Would have really helped if it had said on the instructions that once you press enter it turns into a platformer game.

The random movement of the objects was kind of tedious for me (Would have definitely preferred a click and drag kind of placement) but interesting concept!

God Complex by Fupi 2019-10-07T14:00:40Z

Had some fun with it! Bought a black hole and then didn't actually destroy everything, so gave up after that. Not much to critique other than sometimes things not merging because there's an additional item touching, but I'm not sure how you'd fix that.

Global Warming Is Coming by Odeyalko 2019-10-07T12:44:28Z

Found the axe fairly quickly, but it took me a bit to 1. Find the raft and 2. Realize that you have to hold down E to build. Love how the water rises up gradually, could have used a notification of some kind to let the player know that the water is about to rise.' Nice work, especially for a first game!

PrintScript by walaber 2019-10-07T09:47:19Z

Really cool, just didn't have the patience after making my own game! Having the manual and the printer on the same screen would make things a lot less tedious (Like how I've always got the unity reference on my other monitor!)

FUD by zenpj 2019-10-07T10:03:45Z

Nice work! Liked the visuals and the way you represented "health" though it would have been nice to know that I had three lives initially.

No Room to Move by Thoof 2019-10-07T12:11:01Z

@lumos Totally agree on the difficulty aspects, particularly on the leap of faith bit. Probably should have shown a dotted outline or something before the platform actually spawns in so the player knows what they're getting into. As far as forcing players back to level one, I was mostly hoping that the random level configurations would lessen the frustration (Since you're not playing the same level 1).

@human-writes-code Thanks, agree on the leap of faith bit!

@jakobthequizguy Thanks for playing. Didn't end up tweaking the difficulty quite as much as I probably should have -- at the moment it just adds the cannons faster :)

@baturinsky The levels are endless, so I needed to force a restart somewhere. Just one life might have been too harsh, though!

@wie Thanks for playing! The visual style was mostly a spur of the moment thing, somewhat inspired by the game "Downwell" (Though nowhere near as polished!)
