LD52 — Harvest

The Orchid's Edge by Cornflowerblue 2023-01-10T17:29:56Z

Needless to say that the visuals are stunning. Gameplay feels tight and the SFX and music really set an amazing mood.

Perhaps my only gripe is that the jump can feel a bit clunky at times, but it's truly a minor issue in an otherwise excellent entry!

Very very fun game! The visuals and the music work really well together, but what stands out for me is the combo implementation! At the end it gets a bit too hectic to track but in the midstages nailing the end of a word and beggining another parallelly feels so good.

I saw some words in other languages besides english, so I'm curious how the game is generating its internal dictionary to spawn words.

Anyway, I managed to snag the 6th place, let's see how long it lasts!

This is a very cool concept. The music was very nice and I was kind of bummed out to the game locking me out after a while. Once you understand the matches between plants you can do it perfectly, but it was enjoyable to figure it out. Good job

The visuals are very special! It's a very interesting and charming project. That worm though...

Drake's Fortune by chompdev 2023-01-11T20:41:39Z

Really nice physics! Despite the minimal and clean graphics the game actually makes you feel big and powerful as you should while destroying buildings.

Biggest gripe for me was tracking my own cursor. Particles were very nice, a little camera shake could also improve the feeling of destroying buildings a lot!

Amazing job

Really fun SFX design. The dragging and shooting of meteors also feels very tight, and the camera shake when they crash is amazing. Really solid entry.

The music and the whole feel of the game feels very nice! I feel like the powerups could give you some more visual feedback as to what's going on. I had to really pay attention and reread the description to understand what they did.

King of Veggies by pinchazumos 2023-01-11T15:24:12Z

This was so incredibly fun! The art style and the SFX are also amazing, but the gameplay and getting bonuses felt so good. It took a while for me to fully grasp what the combinations of cards were doing but once it clicked I was blown away by the possibilities. Just got 117, gonna try again now that I understand what I have to do!

Edit: Managed to hit 188 but RNG killed me giving me 7s and 8s. Still, amazing game!

Christmas Hustle by john-wuller 2023-01-10T13:25:41Z

I really enjoyed this one! Loved the loop and the surprisingly deep lore of Elbonia.

Aside from the character's movement and some confusing UX pieces (e.g. missing prices for tree/coal/cane seeds, day duration, reward amount), the game actually feels very nice when you get the hang of it.

It is not time to harvest by Wolfraam1974 2023-01-10T12:07:28Z

Really nice mood and music. The palette was very well chosen and the visuals are very tight.

Gameplay-wise, I felt like the game was a bit frustrating. Obstacles are pretty hidden and there are no danger cues to let the player know they have to react, which turns it into a memorizing exercise. Collision boxes should be smaller in my opinion, to ease up on the frustration.

Jumping could've used a bit more gravity as it felt a bit floaty, maybe this was intended since the character is like a ghost?

Really enjoyed it! With a bit of tweaks this could be a very nice platformer!

Rot Waits for No One by giuti 2023-01-10T09:07:12Z

@mcechinatto Thanks so much!

@naomiajacobs Thank you! That was the mashup we were going for. Yeah, the game is very much intended for mouse, must be pretty tough on a trackpad

@kapuetze Thanks for your review! Yep, the process in place right now may feel a bit odd in later stages as we had to cut some progression features that would've optimized and the systems in place

Vermin Attack by stevepixelface 2023-01-10T11:50:59Z

Simple but super polished! Progression also scales in a really nice way. Hitting two moles at the same time feels super satisfying. Amazing job
