LD39 — Running out of Power

Sip Sip Universe by sugarbyte 2017-08-09T14:05:59Z

Nice idea, nice mood.

First, I want to report that some web browsers might have trouble loading a bunch of your sprites. Using Firefox I could not see fruits or my spaceship, which was kinda confusing. After switching to Chrome, I could see the entire game. Any of you that don't seem to see fruits on a planet, try to change browsers !

I can see the connection to the theme via the fact that you need fruit to power the spaceship. Graphics and sounds are coherent with the mood. All in all, good job for making this in so little time.

One last thing, the hint page is hard to read whenever you are on a planet with a gray or blue background, it may be a good idea to make a black or colored frame to ensure the text is readable.

Paper Plane Simulator 2007 by PolyWolf 2017-08-11T20:44:40Z

Good concept, I liked the physics. It's maybe a bit simple, but you can easily add features if you want, like upgrades or vertical / horizontal goals. I managed 207 tapping space once, it's actually really challenging to try and maintain momentum this way, but really satisfying.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Team leader by gamedevbynight 2017-12-07T16:17:27Z

I really enjoyed the game and the ramp up in features as the weeks go by. In the end, I liked the choice you have to do between micromanaging the team or just go at it with events until the cash dries out.

I found the "7" to look a little too much like a "3" and it made me do some mistakes in my playthrough. I liked the music, even though I really thought it could have been in a space opera type game.

All in all, good job!

Peregrine by ARuculaDoMal 2017-12-07T15:32:40Z

Nice little game! I liked the difficulty mechanic and managed to clear the level with 3 bags. (and a score of 2131) I also liked the cute and clear graphics. As for the platforming, Once you realize that most items are platforms, it makes the game a little too reliant on the double jump.

The behavior when you get hit is a little too harsh, but either getting knocked back or a longer invulnerability window could work. I feel the music does not match with the mood, I'd try a slower tempo, but I'm no specialist !

All in all, I really liked the game and mugging random passerbys :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Oath of Balance by pickens-inc 2018-12-27T23:33:28Z

Nice concept, but clearly a bit easy.

To make the game a little more challenging, you could remove the shield or remove the possibility to attack and hold the shield at the same time. Some kind of stamina that would deplete when blocking could also work. The jump, while not necessary, was too rigid in my opinion.

Still, nice graphics and controls, altar mechanics were not obvious at first, but easy to find out randomly.

Monastico: LD43 entry by gafblizzard 2018-12-19T18:21:58Z

Nice idea, but you have to improve on player interaction and maybe more possibilities, as currently the game has too much forced moves.

I think having dynamic tiles to change the board from one playthrough to another would be a nice addition, or having the possibility of changing tiles at the first season change, but not later to avoid changing tiles with sacrifices.

Bonuses with score thresholds might be a good idea for more strategic depth. (ex : a +1 holy becomes a +2 or +3 if you have at least 5 learning, or you get 5 bonus points if you have at least 4 in each stat)

Yet another idea : hidden score objectives like "get 5 holy for bonus points" or "have 1HP at the end of the game for bonus points"

Blood Cult Sim by WilloXs 2018-12-21T19:28:46Z

Nice concept, but I felt like the little control I had over the cultists behaviour was not enough, and even on easy I ended up losing all my little robed fellows to the city. I found that even on "Stay Away", they tend to go there anyway and get caught.

The game itself is pretty clear after a little bit of gameplay, it just needs more options IMO.

Sacrificial City by Glassar 2018-12-05T19:57:43Z

Nice game, good take on the theme.

I lost my first playthrough due to food shortage, but second game I managed to go "infinite" due to being able to win against the city consistently and refilling military pretty quickly.

My only gripe with the resource management side of the game is that once a temple has been built, stone seems hardly useful anymore, but other than that, I had fun balancing my economy.

Lambastard by Potku 2018-12-22T13:47:05Z

Overall, a solid entry, I like the "Holy S**t" moments I found myself into while trying to run around not dying. Nice mood! I found it a bit hard, but it sure adds to the feeling of certain doom.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep the Fire Alive by stmatn 2020-05-04T19:58:06Z

Nice entry. The darkness kinda snuck up on me on my first playthrough, as I really underestimated its growth, but it makes you learn from your mistakes. I'm gonna repeat what others said, I'm not sure how to use the lift to move around or when it's possible or not to build conveyor belts. Still, as a survival city builder, it's consistent and reminded me of the creeper world series.

Bestseller by Roboimuri 2020-04-27T12:53:10Z

Simple and efficient. As an aspiring writer myself, I wished it was that easy to produce best-sellers, but at the same time, that coffee sure looks dangerous!

The Deepest Level by Monado 2020-05-04T19:08:52Z

Good jam entry, I liked the graphics and the overall mood, the fact that you get a limited amount of life that can't be replenished seems consistent with the theme and mood. Controls were okay, even though fall speed could have been a bit faster. Enemies were kinda easy to deal with, even when surrounded, but there was an odd difficulty due to not being able to move the character during the invulnerability after taking damage, which can be quite damaging when touched by a projectile from the ceiling enemies. Maybe add some knockback? In conclusion, I liked your entry, good job!
